Chapter 1530: Chapter 1530: You Can Take It as a Warning!
Outside the venue was a beautiful lawn, already filled with long dining tables for the meal after the auction. Waiters in tailcoats were busily preparing, carrying trays back and forth.
To the left of the lawn, a man holding a cocktail glass elegantly clinked glasses with the person opposite him, saying with a smile brimming with meaning, "Is that so? I’m very grateful that Mr. Tony and his wife could come this time, and thank you for your invitation. If I have the chance next month, I will definitely visit the Manor. I hope then both Madam and President will have the time."
"Oh, of course," the middle-aged man with blond hair and blue eyes immediately replied, his wife, also blonde and blue-eyed, dressed properly and smiling suitably, stood beside him, watching the two men exchange pleasantries and playing the role of the perfect wife with impeccable manners.
Just then, Oscar saw Baron Lawrence approaching him. His smile faltered, and he turned back to the couple, saying, "Excuse me, a friend of mine has arrived. I’ll go and say hello. The matter of the Manor is settled then, and please enjoy the charity auction today at your leisure."
The middle-aged man seemed to like him a lot and wasn’t upset at all that he was leaving mid-conversation, laughing and saying, "OK, don’t mind us, go ahead with your business."
"Then excuse me," Oscar raised his glass, took a sip of the wine in the high-stemmed glass, and walked away apologetically.
Baron Lawrence arrived just in time. He casually took a glass of Red Wine from a Waiter and handed it over, "Young Master Lawrence, here, have a glass. Lafite from ’82, tastes pretty good. I remember Skye saying you like Red Wine."
Baron Lawrence’s eyes, cold as obsidian, took the glass from him, sipped it, and said with unclear intent, "She seems to tell you everything."
As if Oscar hadn’t detected the underlying message in his words, he smiled slightly and said, "Not bad, Skye is a very independent person. Unless she wants to tell me something, I wouldn’t know it if she preferred to keep it to herself."
Baron Lawrence looked sharply at him, as if trying to read something from his face.
Oscar remained suitably smiling and continued, "Actually, I’ve always wanted to have a meal with you. After all, you are Skye’s most beloved younger brother. She often tells me about your childhood, and I’ve always wanted to meet you. Unfortunately, the last time we had the opportunity, you had to leave due to a sudden matter, and we couldn’t have our meal. I wonder if Young Master Lawrence has time today, could we have a meal together after the auction?"
"I’m afraid I don’t have the time," Baron Lawrence gave no quarter.
Oscar’s smile paused, and he quickly said, "Is that so, that is really too bad."
Though his words expressed regret, his eyes showed none at all.
Baron Lawrence was not one to beat around the bush. He had no interest in continuing this roundabout conversation and stopped the man who was about to walk away, saying, "Don’t covet things that don’t belong to you, or the consequences won’t be as simple as you think!"
Oscar was taken aback by the suddenness of his words, stunned for a moment, but quickly grasped the meaning behind Baron Lawrence’s words.
It appeared that Baron Lawrence had already noticed something.
Indeed, the men of the Lawrence Family were not so simple.
After a moment’s shock, he regained his composure, pretending not to understand or perhaps implying something, he said, "Is this a threat?"
"You can take it as a warning!" Baron Lawrence was ruthless!
