Chapter 754: Chapter 10 Heroes (Part 1)

Zou Hai closed the door behind him.

Alone, sitting cross-legged on the loft bed, Gu Shen fell into deep thought.

"Strange noises?"

He shook his head, didn’t think much of it, and immersed himself in cultivation.

...

...

The patrol sentinels of Gu Castle Fortress walked beneath the giant wall.

The night wind was grim.

When the two sentinels reached the area near the loft, a glimmer of light flashed around the corner.

"Mr. Deputy."

The two sentinels stood at attention and saluted.

"Hmm."

Having just left Gu Shen’s loft, Zou Hai nodded, and issued a soft command, "The area ahead is where Mr. Xiao Gu is resting tonight, you will focus your patrol here... If you notice anything unusual, notify me immediately."

"Unusual..."

Glancing at each other, the two patrolmen wore a knowing expression.

They understood all too well the implications of that word.

"He’s different from the guests from Central City," Zou Hai frowned, speaking solemnly, "He’s a distinguished guest brought by Angel Envoy Lord Aluel. If he’s injured at Gu Castle, and Her Majesty the Empress demands accountability... we’ll have to take responsibility!"

Both sentinels immediately straightened their backs, responding loudly, "Yes!"

Zou Hai massaged his brow, sighed softly, and gradually moved away.

He murmured, "I hope the lord doesn’t release that thing tonight..."

The two sentinels exchanged glances.

They continued their patrol, circling the loft while communicating with spiritual power.

"That Mr. Gu... is he really worth such attention?"

"The guy’s got guts, wearing a Third-tier Source Armor, daring to face the Source Energy Cannon..." the patrol sentinel said candidly, "Anyone who can do that isn’t a coward."

"Average at best, this doesn’t prove anything..."

The spiritual communication suddenly ended.

The two sentinels tensed up, stood at attention, and looked towards the "ghostly figure" that had appeared before them without notice... Zou Hai, who had just left, was standing before them once again.

"Mr. Deputy!"

The scene repeated itself.

The two men spoke respectfully... however, Zou Hai only glanced at them coldly and said nothing.

"Mr. Deputy, do you have any instructions?"

Facing the two sentinels who were standing at attention.

Zou Hai waved his hand, gesturing for them to leave quickly.

Having just designated the loft area as a key patrol point, and now telling them to leave... the two sentinels looked confused but obediently accepted the order, walking away from the loft.

A chilling spiritual pressure loomed over the two men’s heads the entire time.

It wasn’t until they moved away from the loft that it slowly dissipated.

"Shu..."

The silent sentinel, after looking around to confirm they were alone, turned his head with trepidation and asked, "Did you feel that, just now... the Deputy seemed a bit strange?"

...

...

"Bang."

A very soft knock on the door.

Gu Shen, who was meditating on the loft bed, slowly opened his eyes.

Out of habit.

Gu Shen subconsciously released a wisp of spirit.

However, the moment Chi Huo opened his eyes, the Golden Hoop burst into a scorching pattern, suppressing it firmly inside... since obtaining the favor from the Battle God Throne, Gu Shen had not used his spiritual power to probe his surroundings for a long time now.

But in truth, he had grown accustomed to it.

Without combat, even if he couldn’t use his spiritual power, it wouldn’t impact him too much.

Gu Shen furrowed his brow.

He remembered the warning Vice Officer Zou had given him before leaving.

"You might hear some strange noises outside the door, but please, whatever you do, do not open it."

"Chu Ling, what’s outside the door?"

Gu Shen asked softly.

"The Heavenly Eye of Gu Castle Fortress is protected by special authority; I can’t fully utilize it at the moment," Chu Ling gave a regretful response.

"Is that so..."

Gu Shen smiled.

He remained seated on the bed, motionless, ignoring the noise outside.

Then, a second knock sounded from outside the door.

"Bang bang..."

This time, the knocking was much gentler.

Accompanying it was a familiar, gentle voice.

"Gu Shen, it’s me, Zou Hai."

Gu Shen narrowed his eyes, stepped down from the bed, and peered through the peephole in the door, only to see a tall figure hidden in the darkness, the face that was revealed was as rough as a wild beast’s.

"Vice Officer Zou" had returned.

Gu Shen laughed softly.

He opened the door, didn’t look back, and went straight back to sitting on the bed, resuming his meditative pose.

And "Vice Officer Zou" just stood outside the door, watching calmly inside.

"What are you waiting for?"

Gu Shen closed his eyes and asked nonchalantly, "The door is open, aren’t you coming inside?"

The still and silent "Vice Officer Zou," after watching for several seconds, slowly entered the room.

The moment he entered.

A "click" was heard!

The door closed behind him.

Gu Shen still sat with his eyes closed, meditating.

He said with a light laugh, "No wonder Zou Hai told me to not open the door no matter what noises I hear... who would have thought, within Gu Castle Fortress, they are keeping such a unique ’Extraordinary Pet Beast’ that can even perform Hypnosis Technique on its own?"

"Growl..."

Zou Hai, draped in a cloak, emitted a low growl from his throat.

He reached out a large hand.

"Rip!"

He tore off the cloak and threw it towards Gu Shen, the distance between them less than ten meters. The moment he threw the cloak, "Zou Hai" suddenly moved, his body instantly dropped to the floor, his limbs kicking off the ground hard, causing the wooden floor of the loft to burst apart!
