Chapter 206: Chapter 159: This guy is even crazier than Susan!
Through the overgrown wasteland, the sight of an abandoned entry-level flower bed came into view.
The decay of the Ancient Castle wasn’t just superficial; the interior was in even greater disrepair.
If it weren’t for the few paths that had been trampled down, Brian would have almost thought the place had been abandoned for years.
He activated his enhanced sense of smell, with an array of scents flooding his nostrils.
Brian’s brow furrowed slightly as he quickened his pace.
He passed through the deserted flower bed area.
A temporary camp appeared in Brian’s field of view.
The camp was filled with wooden cabins and camping tents that looked like something a group of vagrants might use. In the open space, three men and a woman gathered together in a circle, engaged in hand-to-hand combat—sometimes grappling tightly together, their movements appearing more skillful than fierce.
Around them, several obvious surveillance cameras could be spotted.
Beyond the camp, one could see an entrance to the Ancient Castle complete with a drawbridge.
Brian’s keen eyesight allowed him to notice some modern furniture on the castle terrace and fruits and food laid out on a table, there was even a glass of wine that had been left.
This meant that people were living inside the Ancient Castle, and it had been renovated, not as desolate as the exterior suggested.
However, these places were also under extensive surveillance.
Thinking too much was useless.
Brian headed straight for the rudimentary camp ahead.
..
The four people engrossed in their fight in the middle of the camp paid no heed to Brian, the outsider who had silently entered their Domain.
Just then,
the red-haired man fighting the woman found his neck entwined by her slender thighs.
Carrying the body of the woman seated on his head, face down on the ground, he hurriedly raised his hand in surrender, "The scent is too strong, Melita. How long has it been since you last bathed? It’s like a biochemical attack; it’s not fair!"
Slap~
The woman sitting atop the man’s head, furiously embarrassed, slapped him. She was about to say something when her gaze suddenly sharpened, looking towards the entrance, and she said warily, "This is a private Domain, who are you?"
The man beneath the woman quickly stood up, and after seeing a man with glasses, a pretty boy, he exhaled in relief and shrugged, "A handsome guy has come; you should be mindful of your image, Melita."
The other two men grappling also stopped their movements and turned to look at Brian, who had intruded.
Brian regarded the dirty foursome and shrugged, "My name’s Brian, from the NW Action Department in Los Angeles. I’ve been temporarily added to your training. Is there a kind soul here who can tell me the situation and the rules?"
Upon hearing this, all four fell silent.
As if the organization was a taboo subject.
Still, the red-haired man initially being wrestled spoke up, "NW Action Department? Do you have a woman named Susan there?"
"Yes," Brian replied as he found a wooden stump to sit on and adjusted his glasses, "Susan is my team leader. She’s the one who recommended me here. But that’s not important. I’m in a hurry, can you tell me the rules here?"
"This is important," the red-haired man looked pitifully at Brian:
"The rules here are barbaric. Aside from not using firearms, not taking lives, and not causing organ or limb mutilation, there are no rules.
The strong can freely choose missions and living quarters.
The weak, like us, can only endure the elements outside, taking on some garbage and time-consuming missions.
Susan had offended quite a number of people.
That means those people might look for trouble with you at any moment."
"You talk too much, Derek!"
A strong man cut off the red-haired man’s words.
Before Derek could respond, Melita, the short-haired woman straddling him, kicked him first, "York, be polite to Derek, or I’ll use a dagger to cut off your pathetic little worm!"
"Dogs!"
York, the strong man, spat on the ground fearlessly and strode towards Brian with a ferocious smile, "Though I don’t know why that madwoman would choose to send you here, but..."
Before the man could finish talking, a stick as thick as a baby’s arm, whistling through the air, fiercely struck York’s mouth.
As splinters burst forth, his cheek distorted visibly, and with several teeth forsaking their home, he fell in the opposite direction of the swinging stick, silent as he descended into baby-like sleep.
Brian casually tossed aside the remaining half of the stick and gave the motionless York a kick.
Seeing that he was deeply asleep.
He looked nonchalantly at the red-haired man who had been educating him, "Your name is Derek, right? I guess helping him sleep like this doesn’t break any rules?"
Derek licked his lips as he looked at the well-proportioned Brian, "No rules broken. As long as you’re strong enough, even beating everyone else down is fine, as long as they don’t choose to leave, you can beat and torture them as you wish. But this might lead to you being beaten up in return; even Susan only got aggressive with some people who harassed her."
"Harassed?"
Brian lifted his head and adjusted his glasses, "Buddy, are you saying someone harassed Susan?"
Derek realized he had spoken out of turn.
To answer was to court trouble for himself; the individuals in question would certainly target him afterward.
Not to answer, seeing this pretty boy smilingly take down the not-so-weak York, meant he might not hesitate to rough him up too.
While he was conflicted, it was Melita, still astride him, who interjected, "It’s quite normal, Susan is pretty, and her figure is so hot, plus the rules here are somewhat primitive and cruel. If Susan hadn’t directly demonstrated her harsh gun skills, stating whoever made a move would be killed as soon as they left this place, it’s uncertain if she could’ve left unscathed."
