Chapter 87: Chapter 87: Lying in the Coffin Suits You Well (Please Favorite, Follow, and Vote for the Monthly Ticket)

Kang—

This was the sound of metal clashing against metal.

The sharp longsword collided with the alloy arm, emitting a crisp ring.

The two combatants separated as soon as they touched; He Ao staggered back seven steps, his heel shattering the ceramic tiles on the ground, sinking into the earth.

Najia stepped back three steps, his sleeve shredded in the collision, revealing the undeniably alloy-forged arm beneath.

At that moment, a sword mark approximately 0.5 centimeters deep was visible on the thick alloy armor of that arm.

Neither had used their full strength; it was just a short, probing exchange.

"Old classmate, you’ve given me a surprise,"

Najia laughed heartily, tearing off his clothes to reveal his alloy figure.

"Old classmate, you also gave me a ’surprise.’"

He Ao knew that Najia’s combat talent was lacking; he thought Najia had obtained a ’Talent Sequence,’ but he hadn’t expected him to have transformed into a completely Mechanically Modified Person.

"So, should I call you ’Mech Cultist’?"

He Ao, with the tip of his sword touching the ground, said with a laugh.

"I’m not that kind of low-end stuff," Najia laughed, "This body is a mechanized body specially crafted for me by the Rockville Consortium."

He clenched his fist, locking eyes with He Ao, "Old classmate, do you know what I’ve learned from you?"

"What have you learned?"

He Ao scrutinized his alloy body, searching for seams and connection points in the metal.

"The flesh and blood of humans ultimately have limits."

Najia leaped forward abruptly, a fist crashing down towards He Ao.

Super Memory, explode!

The sound of metal on metal came again as He Ao’s entire body was sent flying.

He hit the wall.

After taking the waiter’s secret medicine, his Super Memory seemed to have absorbed the ’waiter’s’ ability; when Super Memory was triggered, his physical fitness would get a boost from the ’waiter’s’ enhancement, increasing by 57 points.

Now, his physical fitness had elevated from 80 to 137, nearing rank D.

Even so, he was easily sent flying by Najia.

Although unharmed, the opponent’s strength was somewhat beyond his expectation; it likely had reached the upper echelon of rank D.

In terms of sheer power, far from Mu Xiu, but surpassing that of Selena.

He Ao retracted both legs, shutting off Super Memory.

"Old classmate," Najia pointed to Aaron, whose head was already gone, "Talent Sequence 18: Antique Merchant, can you guess what its power is?"

He scoffed, "It can identify the age of antiques and roughly ascertain their value—an E-rank Talent Sequence, an ability like trash, in the end, he could only rely on the physical fitness enhancement from the Talent Sequence to fight. And you, old classmate,"

He approached He Ao again, "The limit of Martial Arts, ’Iron Body,’ peak of F-rank, but what’s the outcome? A sneak attack with a hidden gun could leave you limping forever."

"All this Transcendent power, Talent Sequences, and Martial Arts," he stomped on the ground, scattering stones that obscured He Ao’s vision, "are garbage! Only machinery is eternal in this world!"

A massive figure burst through the dust, hammering down upon He Ao from above.

He Ao quickly detonated Super Memory, dodging to one side.

At the same time, several gun barrels suddenly extended from Najia’s body, the glittering laser cannons filling the space like a grid dividing the world.

He Ao hurriedly dodged behind a cabinet far from Najia, the intense laser cannon blasts penetrating most of the cabinets in front of him and stopping just before breaking through the last one.

He Ao narrowly evaded this barrage of laser cannon fire; he had even prepared to continue dodging backwards.

The surrounding area was now devoid of people. He Ao had just been listening intently to Najia’s boasting, not out of a genuine desire to understand the emotional journey of his old classmate, but to give the researchers an opportunity to escape.

The researchers weren’t fools; after Najia appeared, they had started running toward the passageway to the underground level three parking lot that He Ao had opened.

During the time Najia was blowing his own trumpet, they had all already fled into the parking lot, leaving the underground laboratory.

He Ao, watching Najia, whose body was covered in gun barrels, began constructing a combat model of Najia in his mind.

Najia’s mechanized body was strong and highly defensive, but the laser cannons it carried did not inflict much damage, certainly not as much as Selena’s.

The gap between Selena and Najia was like that between a high-agility mage and a high-strength warrior.

Copy World was not a game world with unlimited energy; the amount of energy an individual could carry was finite. Najia’s choice of great strength and defense necessarily meant a reduction in the power of long-range attacks.

Those area damage attacks Najia had used couldn’t have been made instantaneously, or else Najia would have just shot indiscriminately without end. They probably required some preparation time, and Najia’s energy core likely couldn’t support the release of so much energy all at once. It was more plausible that the attacks were facilitated by some kind of energy storage method.

This was He Ao’s first battle with a mechanized warrior, an armed mechanized body.

Fighting such a metal brute was indeed a bit troublesome.

He had underestimated Najia, and Najia had underestimated him.

"Old classmate, do you want to come out for a chat? Of all my old friends from those years, you’re the only one left alive."

Suddenly, a light noise came from a corner on the left, and Najia raised his hand and fired a laser cannon, piercing through the equipment cabinet from where the sound had come, "Let me send you on your way properly."

At that moment, a silver light suddenly shot out.

A cold smile appeared on Najia’s face as he raised his hand to aim a laser cannon to the right.

However, his shot missed its target.

The silver light of the longsword descended abruptly from the left and slashed at Najia’s waist, cutting through his armor and leaving a cut about five centimeters deep, through which exposed wires fizzed with electricity.

He Ao had anticipated his anticipation.

In war, deception is invaluable.

At that moment, the entire laboratory glowed with the sparks from damaged equipment.

Najia would destroy those things that Aaron had dared not, without any regard.

Najia moved his body slightly, and due to the injury at his waist, he experienced a slight delay.

"Old classmate, it seems that limping on one leg doesn’t affect you much."

"I just want to tell you," He Ao said, holding the sword and standing opposite Najia, "the flesh and blood of a human has no limits."

"Then I’ll give it a try!"

Najia leaped up, his speed now much faster than before, though it was unclear if he had been concealing his true power earlier or if he had overclocked his processing chip or energy core.

The sword light collided with the steel fist, and He Ao was sent flying once again.

In a contest of strength alone, he was actually not a match for Najia.

The two of them tangled in combat, with He Ao’s sword light gradually breaking through Najia’s armor, while Najia’s occasionally sneaky laser cannons caught him off guard.

His left shoulder bore burn marks, and his chest had a scar from which blood flowed down his torn clothes.

Unknowingly, the two had moved atop a huge transparent dome.

He Ao felt instinctively that something was not right and wanted to disengage, but the dome beneath his feet suddenly cracked. He lost his footing and fell toward the massive cage below that held the exotic beast.

"Old classmate, I’ll arrange a grand funeral for you."

Najia, with multiple damages on his body, stood at the edge of the opening and laughed heartily.

"Lying in a coffin suits you well."

He Ao’s sword tip fiercely pierced through the joint at Najia’s ankle, and with a forceful tug, Najia, standing at the edge, lost his balance and fell down together with He Ao.
