Chapter 812: Chapter 812: Sacrifice (Seeking Monthly Pass)

But the white-robed figure’s joy did not last very long.

In an extremely short period of time, he saw the young man insert the knight’s sword, still in its scabbard, into the ground and slowly open his palm to reveal a translucent eyeball that seemed to be made of both flesh and gemstone.

The eyeball floated up from the young man’s hand, its gaze turning, and in an instant it ’saw’ him.

Dazzling orange light gathered at the pupil of the eyeball, forming an inverted triangle with tightly shut eyelids.

Under the gaze of that eye, the surging power that filled his body, which felt like it came from the Eternal Radiance’s grace and seemed boundless, began to fade away rapidly as if it was being erased by an invisible eraser.

He couldn’t tell if it was an instant or a long period of time, but by the time he reached the young man, the power within him had already been completely neutralized.

Then what he saw was the young man calmly drawing the knight’s sword from the ground and slowly thrusting it forward.

The young man’s movements appeared slow, slow enough for him to see every detail, yet seemingly fast, so fast that he had no time to dodge.

Puh—

The sharp tip of the sword pierced through his belly, not a vital spot, but the moment it was punctured by the blade, he felt as though he lost control of his body: the surging strength went haywire and destroyed his physical form.

His blood, spraying in the dim light, spattered on a waxen plastic lamp.

His pure white robe was stained a bright red.

To Lena, what transpired was He Ao opening his palm to reveal an object shaped like an eyeball, then drawing the knight’s sword with the other hand.

In the next second, the white-robed figure was impaled by He Ao’s knight’s sword as if he had moved into it himself.

By the time Lena fully reacted,

He Ao had already pulled out the knight’s sword and returned it to the scabbard.

Just like nothing had happened at all, calm, composed, and natural.

At that moment, Lena suddenly realized that she had misunderstood He Ao’s ’weakness’.

Even a grievously wounded tiger resting on the ground is not something that roadside wild dogs can afford to annoy.

She gathered her thoughts and called back her dagger.

But He Ao’s actions in dealing with the white-robed man were so fast that the group surrounding them hadn’t even had time to react and continued their assault.

With no worries behind her, Lena’s figure broke into the crowd, with swift movements, she quickly dispatched these attackers.

"These people seem to come from a local gang interspersed with a few priests from the Eternal Secret Teachings; their strength isn’t great, the core members must be inside the door."

As the last white-robed figure, who appeared to be a priest, fell, Lena sheathed her dagger, looked back at He Ao, and shared her deduction,

"It seems that the members of the Eternal Secret Teachings who are here to hunt us and those from this church are not the same group. The ones in the church seem less concerned with the hunt; they’re more focused on the matters of ’Ascending to the Kingdom of God’."

"Uh-huh."

He Ao nodded lightly.

At this time, he had already pulled out the knight’s sword, along with the scabbard, from the ground and walked up to the thin iron door.

In his spiritual vision, the door was covered in a multitude of distorted patterns and even some scattered bits of light.

This appeared to be a ’seal’ made with the power of the Eternal Radiance’s grace, meant for someone with a special method to gain entry to the chamber.

"This church seems not so ’simple’."

Lena also came over; she tried to push the door but could not open it.

A church that could offer a ’spot’ to Ascend to the Kingdom of God and could reinforce its door with extraordinary power, despite its modest look, must hold a significant status.

At this moment, she increasingly realized that He Ao was not afraid of the pursuers from the Eternal Secret Teachings in this area; he most likely had noticed something peculiar about this church and had come specifically for it.

"I can try to force it open."

Lena lifted the black dagger in her hand.

The defense of this door might not yet be at the level that only a B-level could break through.

But, for the two of them who were seriously injured, forcing this door open would still take some effort.

"No need."

He Ao shook his head.

He lifted his gaze, glanced around, then turned and headed straight along the wall made of rusty iron sheets.

Finally, he stopped in front of one of the church’s rare concrete walls, which served as a pillar, under Lena’s somewhat puzzled and bewildered gaze.

This wall was only just over a meter wide and looked very thick.

He Ao placed his hand on the wall and, standing before it, he could faintly hear the faint sound of mechanical conversation coming from behind the wall.

Then he took a half-step back and lifted his foot.

······

Bright lights shone in the narrow room.

Compared to the rudimentary church hall, this ’small room’ on the side of the church was much more exquisite.

Seated on the soft sofa in the corner of the room, Klin’s gaze slowly swept over all the decorations within; this was his first time entering this room.

The large and delicate chandelier brought a warm glow to the room, and however, they did it, the room was exceptionally quiet, completely unaffected by the clamor from the outside world.

The White Robe Priests didn’t do anything to him directly but asked him to sit in the corner and wait for a while as they gathered together, busying themselves with an assortment of items.

"That old fellow is really lucky, getting to enter the Kingdom of God ahead of time."

One of the priests, who was fiddling with a candelabrum, said with a laugh.

"Is the Kingdom of God really that wonderful?"

Another priest took out a white candle from a cupboard.

"I heard it’s a thousand times better than what we can imagine," the priest with the candelabrum exclaimed, "It is said that some of the core upper echelons of the church have once been graced by the Divine Beings, entered the Kingdom of God, and have seen that beautiful world, staying in the Kingdom of God?"

"Can the living really enter the Kingdom of God?"

A priest holding an old light bulb expressed surprise.

"They say that as long as you contribute enough to the church, you can be ’called’ by the Eternal Radiance and enter the Kingdom of God in the flesh, enjoying the splendor there," the priest with the candelabrum smiled.

"Then the Holy See must live like that every day, right?"

The priest with the old light bulb fantasized.

"What are you all talking about?"

A cold voice cut into the conversation; it was a White Robe Priest who was taking something out of a box with his back to everyone.

He was holding a transparent glass sphere about thirty centimeters in diameter, and when he turned around, his gaze swept over the others coldly.

Instantly, the entire space grew quiet; no one dared to speak, each busy with their own tasks.

"Preacher, sir," after a little while, the priest holding the candle cautiously poked his head out, looking towards the White Robe Priest, "can we really, the living, enter the Eternal Divine Nation?"

The man in the white robe glanced at the Candle Priest and, after a brief pause, spoke slowly, "Of course."

Everyone’s movements halted instantaneously, as even Klin in the corner directed his gaze over.

"According to the information I received during the church meeting at the cathedral,"

the man in the white robe cradled a glass orb in his hands, "the summoning of the Eternal Divine Nation will soon further expand, and not just the church’s high ranks, but we too will have the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of God!"

"Really!?"

A gleam flashed in the eyes of the Candle Priest.

"Of course it’s true!"

The man in the white robe snorted coldly, "Would I deceive you? Work hard, the Church will not forget your achievements, and in time, these merits of yours will be your capital to enjoy the blessings in the Kingdom of God!"

"Yes, yes."

A priest brought a bucket of fresh blood from the corner, as everyone nodded vigorously, accelerating their movements.

In the center of the room, a vivid red glowing pattern quickly emerged.

The pattern consisted of six segments of varying lengths that connected at a single point, with the other ends radiating outward; the overall pattern resembled a radiant singularity.

The white-robed priests sequentially placed decayed torches, candles in candlesticks, liquid fuel lamps, used light bulbs, broken neon signs, and a skull clockwise at the end of each of the six segments.

Then the man in the white robe walked to the center of the Array, and slowly placed the glass orb just above the singular point at the very center.

The surrounding priests instantly pulled out six pendants flickering with a golden glow.

"Praise the Eternal Radiance!"

The shimmering golden light surged forth from the pendants in their palms.

In that instant, a vast radiance seemed to descend from the boundless expanse of time and space, and then flashed by.

The next second, an invisible brilliance suddenly lit up from the very center of the glass orb; and subsequently, the surrounding candles, torches, broken light bulbs, neon chunks, and fuel lamps illuminated without any apparent energy source, twinkling with dazzling brilliance.

Then the man in the white robe released his hand.

The seemingly heavy glass orb did not fall; rather, it floated up slowly like a hydrogen balloon, hovering about two meters above the central point of the Array.

At that moment, the man in the white robe stepped back out of the Array and looked towards Klin, who was sitting in the corner.

Two white-robed priests quickly walked over and lifted Klin to his feet.

The elderly man, with his hair now white, looked at the bright glows on the blood-red lines and watched as the lights and lamps naturally illuminated without fuel or electricity.

The scene before him was so bright yet filled with an unfathomable eeriness that was beyond comprehension.

"Mister, congratulations, you now have the opportunity to enter the Kingdom of God,"

the man in the white robe watched Klin, hanging a gentle smile on his face once more, "You are lucky, it’s an opportunity countless people can only dream of."

"Don’t try to deceive me anymore,"

Klin watched the scene, his body trembling slightly, but he continued to speak,

"Those purportedly ’chosen’ to enter the ’Kingdom of God’, whether willing or not, and even those ’chosen’ who have sold their possessions for your so-called Eternal Radiance leading to the ruin of their families and lives, none have returned alive. You merely loathe that I’ve hindered your extortion near the Storm Building and are looking for a reason to get rid of me!"

He paused, as if mustering up courage, and said vehemently,

"When I first cooperated with you, it was because you promised to bring a better life to the people near the Storm Building, but look what you have done!

"Under the guise of offering to the Divine Being, you’re more brutal and greedy than those gangs! Going on like this, you will surely be destroyed!"

"It seems, Mister, you have some misunderstandings about our work,"

Klin continued to shake his head with a smile, "The Kingdom of God is real, and we indeed want you to enjoy a wonderful life there. As for the ’extortion’ you mentioned, there’s no such thing as a free lunch in this world, and sometimes, indeed, they need to do something for the Kingdom of God."

"Did those people you deceived, who starved to death after losing their food, really enter your so-called Kingdom of God?"

The elderly man took a deep breath and asked coldly.

"There are always some unfortunate individuals in this world who die before Daybreak, already owning so little. Even without us, they would have perished,"

the man in the white robe paused, then said with a light chuckle, "At the very least, your contributions are enough, and you can enter the Kingdom of God."

"So they deserve to die?"

Upon hearing the words of the man in the white robe, the elderly man’s voice became somewhat suppressed, and he asked with a low growl,

"Are they unfortunate? Would they die if they did not have to spend their meager income to support you, and if you did not excessively take from them through deceit?

"You eat their food, take their offerings, leaving them unable to survive the cold winter, and yet you claim they were destined to die? So you believe you are doing a good deed?"

"You are agitated."

The white robe man said calmly.

"I just have to die here, and I’ll enter the Kingdom of God?"

The elderly man took a deep breath and sneered, "Just now you all said that you don’t know if living people can also enter the Kingdom of God. Since you say entering the Kingdom of God is an ’Enchantment,’ can I give up this ’Enchantment’?"

"You still have a significant misunderstanding of us,"

the man in the white robe shook his head, "Once you truly see the Kingdom of God, you will understand how wonderful it is. As for the flesh and blood, now that you have become a citizen of the Eternal Radiance, the flesh and blood of the old Universe is, in fact, no longer necessary."

With that, he did not wait for Klin to speak again, glanced at the White Robe Priests on both sides, "Take this respected elder to the corresponding position. Eternal Radiance will not abandon any believer who has made outstanding contributions."

The priests promptly dragged Klin to the only spot in the Array that was not glowing bright, where a skull lay.

Klin struggled fiercely, gazing at the man in the white robe, trying to say something more. At that moment, the light from the glass sphere floating above shone upon his body.

All the luminous objects on the Array flickered simultaneously.

Immediately, the two priests released their grip and stepped back.

At that instant, Klin seemed to suffer immense torture; he instantly hunched over, a pained expression of anger contorting his features. He tried to leave that spot, but his body did not move an inch.

Hunched over and clutching his chest in agony,

"You people...will not die well..."

"The pain is only temporary,"

the man in the white robe said placidly,

"Soon, you will go to the great Eternal Divine Nation where there is no hunger,

"Do not try to resist. No one can defy the will of the Eternal Radiance. Once the ceremony begins, it can never be stopped!

"Your Fate was already sealed. Resistance will only increase your suffering. Soon, it will all be over,"

he stood before the Array, raising his arms high, and shouted aloud,

"The Universe of All Beings is bound by sin..."

Boom—

A thunderous roar drowned out his voice.

Not far from him, an imposing wall instantly cracked all over and collapsed with a thunderous crash.

At that moment, all the Priests looked up in utter shock at the scene unfolding before them.

They had reinforced the door and all the flimsy metal sheets with Secret Techniques, but they had neglected the walls which appeared so sturdy.

Normal people think of opening doors; who would bother tearing down walls!

A young boy wearing a jacket, with a red scarf around his neck and brandishing a pure white Knight’s Sword, burst out from behind the crumbling wall through the dust and smoke, delivering a kick to the man in the white robe, sending him flying.
