Chapter 763: Chapter 763: Talent Sequence 127 (Super Long Chapter, Seeking Monthly Pass)
Yiluo’s father’s computer homepage was very simple, with only a few work software applications and a folder containing various game image packs.
He Ao first invisibly logged into those work software applications, then connected his bracelet to the computer to let Eve collect and organize the files and chat histories on the computer.
Soon, Eve categorized and organized the files on the computer.
After excluding some holographic films from the computer that were not suitable for public viewing, she went through all work-related files and chat histories and prepared a simple summary report.
These files and records indirectly revealed the development of Yiluo’s father’s company over the past few years, with a noticeable decline in commissions received in the last three years, leading to a gradual financial shortfall.
However, it was noteworthy that, according to the records in various work files, Yiluo’s disappearance marked the watershed moment in the company’s business situation.
Since Yiluo’s disappearance, the company had received fewer and fewer commissions.
First, some ’old clients’ who had been cooperating for a long time suddenly stopped their collaboration, and after a while, the number of new clients also dramatically decreased.
Until recently, some competing security companies began to maliciously bid against Yiluo’s father’s company, grasping customers away from the company even if the price was lower than the cost.
These changes were not progressive but occurred in a ’step-wise’ fashion.
It looked as if Yiluo’s father was constantly negotiating with a certain force, and these step-wise changes were the cards that the force was playing one by one to pressure Yiluo’s father.
He Ao recalled the ’old friend’ who had visited his father twice, who seemed intent on acquiring Yiluo’s father’s company.
From Yiluo’s memory, shortly after that ’old friend’ first visited ’Father’, Yiluo had his incident, and soon after his second visit, Yiluo’s family met with disaster.
It looked like the work of someone who would stop at nothing to acquire Yiluo’s father’s company.
However, if he truly just wanted to acquire Yiluo’s father’s company, he should have played these cards swiftly and in a short period, quickly undermining Yiluo’s father without giving Yiluo’s family a chance to recover, instead of dragging it out this long.
Therefore, the main conflict might not lie in the ownership of the company but on Yiluo’s father himself, from beginning to end, this ’old friend’ might have been trying to ’influence’ Yiluo’s father, making him do something, with company acquisition being just one step in the process.
If Yiluo’s father himself was more important than the company, then what the other party valued shouldn’t be the benefit but something exclusive to Yiluo’s father.
Perhaps it was a personal ability, or perhaps it was a group influence.
Maybe it was to prevent his family from worrying, or perhaps due to personal habit, Yiluo’s father did not leave any information related to the crisis on the home computer.
He Ao leaned back in his chair, contemplating the clues discovered so far.
In Yiluo’s memory, his father had never demonstrated any transcendent abilities; if Yiluo’s father wasn’t deliberately hiding his own abilities, then as an ordinary person, the most valuable thing he likely possessed was his influence within a certain community.
Where Yiluo’s father held influence, Yiluo didn’t know.
After all, he was only nine years old when he lay in the Nutrient Pod, and in his memory, his father was a very capable person, but he had no idea how capable exactly.
Perhaps his brother and mother knew, but they were unlikely to be able to convey that information to He Ao now.
Nevertheless, since Yiluo’s father was in the security business, if he had no ’side business,’ his influence would most likely still be within the security industry.
"Eve," he said softly after a moment of thought, "help me collect all information about my father ’Novis’ from the web, and also,"
He took a pen and a piece of paper from the bookshelf, and following the image in his mind, he quickly sketched the portrait of his father’s ’old friend’ from memory. He then scanned the portrait with his bracelet,
"this person, he should be called Kate, gather data on these two, with a focus on information related to the Wint City’s security industry."
Kate was the name Yiluo heard when that ’old friend’ visited his father for the second time while Yiluo was inside the Nutrient Pod.
"Okay."
Eve’s voice echoed in his ear.
As Eve was collecting information, He Ao’s gaze returned to Eve’s summary report.
The last part of the report briefly summarized the process of how Yiluo’s father’s company had been losing business to other security companies in recent months.
These business thefts included not only small clients but also the bidding for some major clients.
Yet, surprisingly, these business-stealing security companies always managed to offer a price slightly lower than that of Novis’ company, undercutting his bottom line and winning the bids.
He Ao pulled up the files and chat history related to this content, looking at these documents thoughtfully.
It was at this time that Eve also finished compiling the available information on ’Novis’ and ’Kate’ from the web.
Strictly speaking, Yiluo’s father, Novis, was not a flamboyant person. He mostly relied on word-of-mouth and personal introductions for business, rarely engaging with online networking, so there was scant information about him on the web.
In this scarce information, the majority was just about Novis Security Company’s introduction and some posts on the web where old clients recommended Novis Security Company.
However, Eve still found some different ’information’.
In a post recommending Novis Security Company, the author claimed that it was one of Wint City’s most trustworthy companies and a ’director company’ of the Wint City Security Union.
He praised Yiluo’s father greatly in the post, regarding him as an ’honest, fair, and serious’ person, and mentioned that among all the director companies, Novis Security Company was the only one that did not display the ’director company’ sign.
"What is this Security Union?"
He Ao asked in a low voice.
In Yiluo’s memory, there was a vague impression of this organization, but it was very dim, as her father seldom mentioned it.
"The Wint City Security Union, there is sparse information available on the internet about it,"
Eve quickly replied, "It claims to be the alliance of all security companies in Wint City,"
"committed to providing quality, reliable security services to all customers in Wint City."
At the same time, a collection of information regarding the Wint City Security Union was sent to He Ao’s wristband.
From this information, the Security Union indeed appeared to be a loose coalition of security companies.
The union’s official website was also rudimentary, with nothing but a simple introduction—no personnel information, organizational structure, or member units. It looked as if it could have been outsourced to a high school student.
He Ao closed the information and looked at Eve’s collection about ’Kate’.
Kate’s information was even less abundant than Novis’s, with the only information available on the internet being that he had become the controller of a security company named ’Snow Wolf’ a few months ago.
The source of this information was a disgruntled former employee of Snow Wolf Security Company complaining on social media about a stingy new boss who had fired him.
He also attached a candid spoof photo.
Although the employee did not mention the boss’s name, and the photo showed only a half-obscured face, Eve had still managed to verify through intelligent algorithms that this person was highly likely the same one He Ao had sketched.
When He Ao saw the photo, it also appeared very similar to the ’Kate’ from Yiluo’s memory in terms of build.
The level of internet footprint Kate possessed was now far less than what an ordinary person might leave on the internet. Clearly, he had deliberately cleaned and hidden information related to himself to avoid being traced through online breadcrumbs.
And the ’Snow Wolf Security Company,’ which Kate controlled, was also a director unit of the Wint City Security Union.
He Ao glanced at the clues collected so far, which were not sufficient to break the case.
However, he now had a general direction, and sometimes simple and crude methods can have unexpected results.
He Ao directly opened the contact list of Novis Security Company employees on his computer.
One number after another appeared before him. In theory, only employees deeply trusted by his father could possibly be involved in deeper matters.
Based on Yiluo’s memory, He Ao circled the names of all the employees his father often tasked with handling matters—six in total. Subtracting Yiluo’s brother, that left five people.
"Eve, help me make a virtual phone call to these people’s numbers."
Some among these may have died that night, but Yiluo did not know who was still alive; He Ao could only try calling each one.
"Calling now."
Eve’s voice rang out promptly.
The first round, five calls, three unanswered, two turned off.
So He Ao asked Eve to make a second round of calls,
On the second attempt, someone answered.
"Hello, who is this?"
A voice tainted with exhaustion and irritability came through.
The one who answered seemed to be engaged in vigorous activity.
Hearing this voice, He Ao immediately envisioned a broad, chubby man with a kind smile, wearing brown round glasses.
"Uncle Galod, it’s me, Yiluo." He Ao said softly, looking at the list on the computer.
"Yiluo? Never heard of you, who’s this brat..." Galod sounded annoyed on the other end, but halfway through, he paused abruptly, "You’re Yiluo?"
The name seemed to have been long unspoken.
Then, a woman’s light cry as she fell on the ground was heard from the other end, along with Galod’s rustling sound, as if he was getting dressed, "Yiluo, you woke up? How did you wake up? Where are you now? Where did you get this phone from? The situation is very dangerous right now, I’ll come to pick you up immediately."
"Uncle Galod, I’ll come to you."
He Ao said calmly.
"Don’t run around,"
Galod seemed to have started moving, his tone carrying a trace of urgency, "The situation is very dangerous right now. Your parents have run into some problems, and the company is also facing some issues. I heard you fell into the sea? How did you get back? Are you in the Storm Zone now?"
He Ao didn’t immediately answer but briefly fell silent before continuing, "Uncle Galod, I can’t get through to the other uncles’ phones."
The hurried footsteps on the other end of the phone paused, followed by Galod’s somewhat sighing voice,
"Yiluo, your other uncles, they all ran into some trouble... In short, the situation is very dangerous right now. Are you in the Storm Zone? Do you have a wristband on hand? Is it the one your father left for you?
"Do this, hail a taxi to the ’Fish Cake Bar’ in the Storm Zone. You take a taxi, and I’ll pay the fare when you arrive. Do you know how to use the taxi app? When you book it, choose to pay after arrival."
"I do."
He Ao paused, then softly replied.
"Good, Yiluo, you’re a good kid. I’ll be waiting for you at the Fish Cake Bar; come as quickly as you can. It’s very dangerous outside for you right now,"
Galod spoke quickly.
"Okay."
He Ao, with a calm expression, hung up the phone and looked at the computer screen which highlighted certain names.
Among the five people, Galod held the highest position, as the right-hand man to Yiluo’s father and the person his father trusted the most.
After a brief pause, He Ao asked in a gentle voice, "Couldn’t you get through to the others either?"
"Two are switched off, and two are not answering."
Eve replied quickly.
Just like the first time, these calls would probably never go through.
He Ao nodded slightly and then left the study, pushing open the door of the small room directly opposite the study.
The room’s decor was simple: a wardrobe, a small bed, and a small bookshelf.
The small bed was neatly made, and on the small bookshelf rested an exquisite mecha toy, which used to be Yiluo’s favorite toy.
The entire room was clean, spotless, without even a speck of dust on the bookshelf.
He Ao walked over to the wardrobe and slowly slid open the closet door.
A whole row of densely packed clothes appeared in his view.
These clothes hangers had labels on them, which seemed to be notes from Yiluo’s mother.
He Ao extended his hand and parted the clothes that didn’t seem too large in front of him, looking at the label on the hanger:
[9 years old]
He moved slightly to the left, and the clothes in his view looked much newer, still having electronic tags on them. He Ao didn’t pay attention to the electronic tags on the clothes but focused on the label:
[10 years old]
He continued to the left. The clothing in this section was a bit larger than on the right, and the label on the hanger read:
[11 years old]
He Ao went to the very left end of the wardrobe, sliding open the door that was blocking that section, looking at the small array of clothes hanging there, focusing on the label on the hanger:
[12 years old]
This section had the fewest clothes, with only winter clothes and a few spring outfits, seemingly newly purchased.
He Ao silently stared at these brand-new winter clothes and then reached out, taking out a set of silver-black base clothes with a long down coat from inside, comparing it to his own body size.
After determining it was a suitable fit, he took the set of clothes and entered the bathroom.
From inside the bathroom came the pattering sound of water while outside, daylight was fading, and light snowflakes floated through the air.
Soon, He Ao emerged wearing the entire set of new clothes.
He removed the tags from the clothes and stood in front of the dressing mirror, looking at the teenager in the mirror with pale skin and a somewhat youthful appearance.
He reached out, tidying up the parts of his clothing that weren’t put on properly.
Then he swiftly walked into the study and reached his father’s bookshelf, pressing a button on the inside of the shelf.
With a light ’click,’ the inside of the bookshelf swung open, revealing a massive silver metal rack that covered the entire wall, adorned with a variety of firearms now within He Ao’s view.
In theory, Yiluo shouldn’t have known about the secret mechanism inside the bookshelf, but after the accident, he was placed inside the study, inevitably "seeing" some of the study’s "secrets."
Several guns were taken from this rack by Yiluo’s father and brother that night, but many weapons still remained.
He Ao took down two large-caliber pistols, quickly checked the magazines and maintenance of the firearms, and then took a belt and fastened the two pistols to his waist.
Next, he took down a submachine gun and, after inspecting its condition, hung it inside his clothes using a gun bag from the rack.
Then he stood on the desk and took down a huge carrying case from the very top of the rack.
He opened the case, which was filled with various firearm parts.
An M73B6, the latest model heavy sniper rifle from Yiwis Space System Corporation.
He Ao closed the lid, attached the magazines, and then carried the case, rummaging through the study cabinet for a black card key before heading outside.
After leaving the house, he didn’t go to the first floor but instead took the elevator directly to the warehouse on the second floor below ground.
Eventually, he came to a halt in front of a tall black off-road vehicle.
As he approached, the vehicle flashed a light, and the car door sprang open automatically.
The Yiluo family had two off-road vehicles; one sank into the sea with Yiluo that night, and the other was still parked in this underground garage—the night Yiluo’s father went to find his mother, he had used the company’s car.
He Ao placed the case on the vehicle, then inserted the card key into the control panel and connected his bracelet.
"Eve, go to ’Fish Cake Bar.’
He Ao, seated in the driver’s seat, closed the car door, adjusted the seat to the frontmost position, and said softly.
"Alright."
The image of a little girl in a white dress, Eve, appeared on the control panel.
Bright lights illuminated the pitch-black underground parking lot as the tall off-road vehicle slowly started.
As the vehicle started, He Ao closed his eyes gently, feeling the pain that pervaded his body stabilize within a lower threshold.
The promotion, it seemed, had finally stopped.
He Ao opened his eyes and opened the personal attributes interface.

——An hour later——
The corpulent Galod, lighting a cigarette, leaned against the entrance of the Fish Cake Bar. He glanced at his watch and then at the snowflakes dancing in the sky.
Across the street, beneath the swirling snowflakes, some old vehicles were parked by the curb, and men in black suits sitting inside were working on their gun bolts and checking ammunition.
Galod turned his gaze back, glanced once more at the white-robed figure sitting in the deepest part of the bar, then looked at his watch again.
"Boss, look ahead," came a quiet reminder through his earpiece, prompting Galod to raise his head and look toward the end of the street.
Under the sky scattered with white snow, a vehicle approached from a distance.
All eyes lifted, looking towards the end of the street.
