Chapter 757: Chapter 757: On the Storm Sea (Major Chapter, Requesting Monthly Passes)
Thunder Flash lit up the sky, and the waves heaved in the storm, tossing the boats, dozens of meters long, like driftwood at the mercy of the wind and waves, before dropping them.
In the midst of pouring raindrops, tentacles, several meters in diameter, surged from the mountaintop rising from the ocean floor, slicing through the water’s surface, one after another.
The huge, nearly spherical Fishing-Hunter Mecha, entangled by two massive tentacles, was dragged out of the water and then torn apart instantaneously, breaking into massive chunks scattered across the deck and the sea, causing silent ripples.
Among these metal fragments, one could faintly see splashes of fresh red blood, the last remains of the mecha pilots.
Bang—
A massive tentacle carelessly slapped down onto the ship, coiling around the narrow cabin and tearing a huge gash through it as if ripping through a paper house.
The water-drenched tentacles, one after another, writhed madly in the sea, illuminated by the light of thunder, their horrific dark-red bodies seeming to play a twisted song.
Terror, oppression, madness.
It was as if hell had descended upon the mortal world, ravaging the soul of every living being here.
"What is this?"
The mechanical man trembled as he edged closer to the cabin wall, knowing it was futile but instinctively seeking the semblance of ’protection’ from a structure that shielded his body.
"Hahaha!"
The man in the white robe watched it all, clutching the shattered pendant in his hand, raising his arms high, allowing the rain to beat down on his distorted yet devout face, bizarre as twisted dough, "This is Divine Wrath, this is the end of all sin, the great Eternal Radiance will destroy every darkness in this world!"
He Ao did not look at the white-robed man’s face but glanced at the hand holding the pendant and quickly removed the harpoons fixed to the wall one by one.
In that instant, a huge tentacle smashed down towards him.
He hesitated not, tearing a metal bar from the wall with one hand, bundling the removed javelins together on his back, and, while jumping to the side, avoided the massive tentacle.
Then, before the giant tentacle could react, he grabbed the edge of the wall, leaped, and climbed rapidly up the superstructure of the upper deck.
Bang—
A massive tentacle struck the chamber above his head, and flying metal fragments grazed past his cheek.
Crouching slightly, he hid on one side of the wall, avoiding the flying metal shards, then resumed his swift ascent.
Meanwhile, the Mechanical Man on the main deck glanced around at the writhing tentacles and carefully reached for the ship’s rail.
"Where are you going?"
A cold, mad voice echoed behind him, belonging to the white-robed man holding the pendant.
He pointed at He Ao, who was rapidly ascending among the flailing tentacles to the very top of the ship, and yelled,
"Go up, kill this demon, the Divine Being will bless all believers and bestow lavish rewards, while those who disobey the commandments and betray shall be torn to pieces by the great apostle."
The Mechanical Man’s steps towards the edge hesitated slightly as he looked at the white-robed man and the tentacles sweeping through the sky, and then at He Ao, who was nearly at the top of the ship, navigating through them.
Whoosh—
A tentacle, carrying the scent of death, flew over the Mechanical Man’s head.
"I’m going!"
Under the icy gaze of the white-robed man, the Mechanical Man clenched his teeth and ignited the jet device at the bottom of his feet, propelling himself towards He Ao through the pouring rain.
"Hahaha!"
The white-robed man, watching the Mechanical Man obediently follow his command, raised his arms high, excited as if he were waving his tentacles, "Yes, yes, yes! They all must die! The demons must die!!!"
Tentacles danced past him but did not touch him.
At that moment, He Ao had already reached the top of the ship.
Thunder and the sky above his head, the storm and the sea beneath his feet.
A dancing tentacle swept toward him, seemingly intent on coiling around him and tearing him into shreds of flesh.
This time, he did not flee but raised the harpoon in his hand, covered with Divine Sense, and utilizing Fist Technique, he suddenly threw it.
The flying harpoon slashed through the curtain of rain, instantly sinking into the body of the tentacle.
The massive tentacle twitched and then fell from the sky, crashing onto the deck.
He Ao exhaled a breath of relief, standing in the pouring rain, holding tightly to a metal bar with one hand, and pulling another harpoon from behind his back with the other.
At this moment, he was still in the midst of "ascension," excruciating pain enveloping him as clusters of muscles rose from under his skin.
Now standing at a higher vantage point, more of the vistas of sky and sea entered his vision, intensifying the whispering voices in his mind.
However, with the continuation of intense pain, his strength also increased.
He looked at the surrounding tentacles, which were becoming more violent.
In the view of Divine Sense, the energy circuits of these dancing tentacles did not converge toward a body beneath the surface of the sea, but formed a circuit within the tentacle itself.
These separate energy circuits came together to form an independent energy hub.
These dancing tentacles seemed not like limbs of a gigantic creature but more like separate entities.
Each of these tentacles possessed a power close to C-level, terrifyingly strong and seemingly resilient to injury, yet their bodies were extremely flexible, with weak defenses.
For those who could not find the weaknesses of these tentacles, they were terrifying.
Under normal circumstances, with He Ao’s current strength, without activating Super Memory, he almost couldn’t sever any of the tentacles.
But with the "assistance" of Divine Sense, and the short burst of power amplified by Fist Technique, he could thrust the Divine Sense-empowered harpoon into the body of the tentacle, destroying its energy hub.
Ultimately achieving victory over stronger foes with weaker force, a one-hit kill effect.
However, this required a great deal of control over timing and power.
And just as He Ao drew a new harpoon, the massive tentacles also began to violently whirl towards him.
He Ao did not hesitate. He dug his feet hard into the deck and then, holding the new harpoon, amplified his strength with Fist Technique and hurled it at the tentacle closest to him.
And the moment the harpoon left his hand and pierced the soft body of the tentacle, his other hand had already reached behind him and drawn a new harpoon.
Blood, glowing with an orange radiance, seeped from the flesh of his cheeks, then washed away by the fierce raindrops, revealing his pale skin and the cold pupils under his drenched hair.
At the same time, a gigantic tentacle was already striking towards him.
Now, there was no time to throw another harpoon with power. He raised the harpoon in his hands, leapt slightly forward, and rapidly, the sharp harpoon pierced the soft flesh.
But as the tentacle’s attack began, under the immense inertia, He Ao’s body, pressed against the tentacle, was swept backwards, flying through the air.
His body was pinned against the metal deck, plowing a tremendous ’entrance’ toward the cabin below, akin to plowing the field.
By the time the force from the inertia had completely dissipated, He Ao, sitting atop a beam, spat out a mouthful of blood, pushed off the tentacle that had "died" completely, and stood up.
His gaze swept ahead, and without rushing upward, he grasped the harpoon that had pierced the tentacle, pulling with both arms, and bent the shaft of the harpoon.
And at that moment, the mechanical man also hovered behind the thrashing tentacles, weaving past the haphazardly striking tentacles and raising the laser cannon in his hand, aiming at He Ao.
In his vision, the tentacle that had just struck He Ao down was completely limp, while the blood-covered He Ao was trying to stagger to his feet.
Honestly, in the long decades of his life, he had never seen such a valiant ’child.’
Even if the other had possibly been tainted, gaining some twisted power, both his combat skills and his fighting temperament could be described as ’youthful hero.’
"What a pity, kid."
The mechanical man took a deep breath, light gathering in the palm of his hand, "The fault, if any, lies with you for being born into this world. Go rest in hell."
At this moment, He Ao staggered to his feet without a weapon or guard, seizing this instant to completely finish off this ’little monster.’
His body was hidden behind two dancing tentacles, at this time even if He Ao were to immediately draw out the harpoon and throw it, he would still be disturbed by the two tentacles.
This little monster was, after all, going to die.
His face was calm, ready to fire.
Just in that moment, he suddenly noticed He Ao looking up at him.
That cold gaze was like an invisible blade of light, piercing through the flickering gap between the tentacles, through his body, through his soul.
It was as if a ferocious beast hidden in the deepest darkness was watching over the lowly human.
The sense of oppression, as if from the soul itself, made his body subconsciously stiffen for a moment, slowing his movement down by a half beat.
And in that instant, he saw He Ao abruptly turn around, pulling out the harpoon that was inserted into the body of the tentacle and had been bent by him, now resembling a boomerang.
That slender figure, carrying the cold, bent harpoon, spun and hurled it, bypassing the towering tentacles in front of the mechanical man and tracing a beautiful arc through the storm.
The mechanical man’s eyes widened in that instant, as he immediately retracted his laser cannon and swerved to the side to evade, dodging the returning harpoon.
But it was this very evasion that exposed his body from behind the fluttering tentacles.
By this time, He Ao had already drawn a new harpoon and thrown it.
The mechanical man watched as the harpoon, aiming for his direction of movement, came hurtling through the air, and instantly his eyes bulged, "No!!!!"
Boom—
The sharp harpoon pierced the center of the mechanical man’s chest, through his power battery, and with a booming explosion, metal shards flew and briefly blocked the tentacles that were attacking from behind.
He Ao meanwhile rolled backward, evading the closest tentacle.
That simple boomerang throwing technique had come from Ronald in the Wilderness Wanderer Copy World, but it didn’t guarantee a hit.
In fact, if the mechanical man had just stayed in place and not subconsciously dodged, he wouldn’t have died so quickly.
But he had grown accustomed to evading.
Caution is reasonable, but in a life-and-death fight, those who fear death often die faster.
He Ao looked up at the closest tentacle, drew a new harpoon from behind, and without hesitation, threw it again, ’killing’ that tentacle.
With the giant, fleshy body of the creature falling, crashing onto the ’floor’, all the tentacles froze for a moment.
This was the fourth tentacle He Ao had ’killed.’
While the dancing tentacles seemed numerous, in fact, there were only nine.
Whoosh—
With a loud roar, the dark sea split to each side, and a gigantic, triangular red head, several tens of meters in diameter and structurally similar to a human head, emerged from the water.
Flowing seawater cascaded down like a waterfall along its smooth skin, and beneath this massive head, in the dark waters, one could vaguely see shadows of thick tentacles.
This was a huge ’octopus monster.’
As this head surfaced, the previously ’dead’ tentacles He Ao had dealt with straightened back up again.
At the same time, the remaining five tentacles underwent a change in their energy circuits, connecting to the giant head, all the energy gathering together at a massive central point right in the middle of the head.
He Ao could faintly sense that beneath the flesh of that head lay layers of hard bones, with its energy convergence point located right in the center of those bones.
And while watching this head, He Ao could also faintly hear some piercing, ear-piercing screams, as if some sort of invisible ’call.’
"Great Eternal Radiance! I praise You! I sing You hymns! You are the grand convergence of all that is pure and true, of the light itself!"
The robed man was now completely prostrate on the ground, worshiping the massive head in frenzy.
However, after merely a glance at the robed man, the huge head redirected its gaze solely onto He Ao.
In another layer of ’vision,’ He Ao could feel the twist in the creature’s soul, sensing its anger and restlessness.
At this moment, the creature was in an extremely aggressive and berserk state, which was the exact opposite of its previous demeanor.
In fact, the beast had always been beneath the sea, right under this very ship.
When He Ao’s ’Nutrient Pod’ was descending, it had collided with the creature.
Yet as he surfaced, the monster did not attack him. After he left the Nutrient Pod and glanced back at the sea, he could feel the beast’s mad killing intent. However, it seemed as if influenced by something, the monster refrained from launching an attack on him.
Even when Big Beard and the chainsaw-wielding man fell into the sea, provoking some predatory instincts, the monster never struck, remaining in some twisted repression.
The current situation, however, was the exact opposite. It was not repressing any twist inside but was engulfed in a bloodthirsty ’frenzy.’
The massive creature watched He Ao, its many tentacles reaching onto the deck and enveloping the whole ship.
Squeak—
The tremendous constricting force began to warp the deck, and the entire ship started to sink.
The monster sought to drag the entire vessel into the Storm Sea.
Of course, it had not completely forsaken the pursuit of He Ao. As it dragged the ship down, two thick tentacles once again lashed out towards him.
This time the two tentacles lacked the energy focal points and had become purely the limbs of the monster; He Ao could no longer disable them with a single strike.
He Ao could feel, however, that the tentacles had slowed significantly; they were no longer as nimble as at the beginning.
This indicated that such ’strength’ did not come without a cost.
Amid the weaving and pounding of the two tentacles, He Ao swiftly navigated towards the very top.
Soon, he returned to his original position.
Thump—
A tentacle struck He Ao, snapping the metal bar to which his harpoon was tied. The flying harpoon scattered in the air, and in the scramble, He Ao managed to grab only one harpoon while his figure was simultaneously flung backwards.
His silhouette tore through the night sky and plummeted into the hole torn open by the tentacle hit just moments before, falling into the layer of cabins below.
Two tentacles immediately probed in, one stretching in from above the hole and the other from the side of the ship, both aiming to crush He Ao in a pincer move.
In that very instant, He Ao suddenly leaped back up from below the opening. Then he wedged a reinforced harpoon into the edge of the outlet, momentarily trapping the tentacle coming through the opening.
The other tentacle quickly recoiled, but it was slightly too late.
He stood atop the ship, standing between the lightning of Thunder Flash and the dark sea.
He lifted the last harpoon high into the air.
The storm brushed past his clothes and hair.
In his current physical state, he had only one chance—just that split second.
His Divine Sense covered the entire harpoon. He instantly activated Super Memory and then applied the Fist Technique enhancement.
Boom—
The booming thunder lit up the sky.
The slender harpoon pierced through the rainy night, and amid the thunder’s crack and the roaring of the sonic boom, along with the explosion of water mist and the lightning of the thunderbolt, it tore through the sky.
