Chapter 727: Chapter 727: The Angel from the Opposite World (A large Chapter asking for monthly passes)

"The space we are currently in is like a balloon, and now, another balloon has come close. The two balloons are nearing each other, pressing together, and the point where they squeeze and meet forms the ’doors’ that connect one to another."

In the hotel conference room, He Ao put down the balloon in his hand, "This explains why, as time passes, there are more and more ’passageways’ appearing in the city, and they’re becoming more stable because as the two balloons press together more intensely, the points of contact between them multiply, and the ’adhesion’ becomes stronger."

His gaze shifted to the other people in the office, looking at their slightly surprised expressions, "This is my conjecture: the space we are in is getting closer to the space of a chaotic ’otherworld,’ at least in the sense of the mystical."

And as his words ended, the venue fell into a brief silence.

"Any questions?"

He Ao looked at Moonlight’s Feiya and Kodo.

"No, nothing."

Feiya suddenly snapped back to reality, her face, which had been calm, now betrayed a hint of discomposure as she picked up a glass of water beside her, "It’s just that you were able to propose such a logically consistent conjecture so quickly... it’s somewhat surprising."

"Shouldn’t it be quite simple?"

He Ao pondered, "And this is just one of my speculations."

The idea of spatial contact wasn’t particularly difficult; the probable reason for Feiya and the others’ judgment could be the difference in information.

The main world’s Transcendent organizations, accustomed to dealing with strange phenomena, would first think of some large-scale oddity when faced with such a situation, considering that there might be a special strange item within Newland City-State.

But from He Ao’s perspective, he had already roughly confirmed through his clone that the ’mist’ enveloping the entire Newland City-State likely originated from a Divine Being above the status of an Angel.

He had also verified through the Velora that the space within the seemingly stable Newland City-State was actually very chaotic.

This made it easy to infer that there was some issue with the space inside Newland City-State.

Combining that with the ’passageways’ in the form of doors that He Ao had seen within the city, as well as the world on the other side of the passageways which bore a strong resemblance to the contaminated Navigator, the train of thought led to the conclusion that the two ’worlds’ were getting ’closer’ to each other in some way—not a particularly difficult deduction to make.

The chaos of space was a result of the forcing together and contact of two ’worlds’ that were not supposed to touch.

Of course, there could also be a difference in thought patterns.

After all, He Ao had visited the Copy World, explored relics, been aboard the Navigator, and with the main world, that was already four different ’maps.’

Compared to the average Moonlight members who had lived in the main world all their lives and at most had explored the relics, He Ao’s imaginative thinking about the intertwining and collision of worlds was somewhat stronger.

Of course, this really wasn’t a very difficult conclusion to reach.

From the expressions of Feiya, Kodo, and Chen Lin, it was clear that they may have previously had very different ideas, but after He Ao explained his conjecture, they quickly grasped the narrative he presented.

They simply hadn’t broadened their thinking to this extent yet.

Some concepts, once the thin veil is punctured, become abundantly clear.

"But it’s been less than two hours since the first monster appeared..."

Kodo muttered quietly from a corner.

The young Minister from the Research Institute who was sitting in front had arrived in Newland less than four hours ago.

Especially after the first monster appeared, Minister He spent most of his time clearing the monsters from the streets and arranging rescues.

The time left for him to think was likely very little indeed.

And in such an urgent timeframe, faced with a strange city and a situation never seen before, the fact that he could so quickly propose a conjecture with a logic far surpassing their prepared discussion results was remarkable.

A conjecture that looked very close to the truth, if not the truth itself.

Isn’t this a bit far-fetched?

Is this reasonable?

Doesn’t this make it seem like he, who has been here for so many years, and the Moonlight, the local snake organization of Newland, are useless?

Of course, his shallow muttering, though quiet, drew the attention of everyone in the conference room due to the small number of people present.

"Ahem,"

He coughed lightly, threw the prepared ’Newland City-State’s Transcendent Item Causes Bizarre Interdimensional Phenomenon’ document into the trash can, looked at He Ao with a serious face, and said.

"This is actually not very difficult, our thoughts are quite similar."

"Cough cough cough cough cough—"

Feiya, who had just been drinking water, suddenly choked on it, holding the cup with one hand and covering her mouth with the other, coughing violently.

Chen Lin looked bewilderedly at the representative from Moonlight across from him, momentarily unable to react to what had just happened.

Why did everyone suddenly start coughing?

He Ao saw Kodo’s small movement, but he did not point it out. Instead, he also covered his mouth, gave a light cough, and drew everyone’s attention back to him, "So, does anyone have any more thoughts?"

"There is a question,"

Seeing the topic return to the right track, Chen Lin pondered and said.

"Judging from the radio transmissions from those we sent to explore the edge, the entire Newland City-State seems to be shrouded in fog, and the sky seems fixed as well. It’s nine in the morning, but the sun hasn’t risen yet. If it’s due to the closeness of two worlds, is only Newland affected? Or is this city just a ’bridgehead’?"

"My guess is, only Newland,"

He Ao said thoughtfully, "If the idea of two spaces coming close is correct, even if Newland is just that ’bridgehead,’ it’s unlikely that there would be such a clear spatial dividing line enclosing Newland. In fact,"

he looked up at the few people present, "I suspect that this ’proximity of spaces’ is probably not some kind of ’natural phenomenon,’ but is ’created’ by some force, covering only Newland City-State."

Judging from the situation inside and outside Newland City-State, this event doesn’t seem like something that could naturally form.

However, He Ao was witnessing a phenomenon that could be a spatial proximity for the first time, and he didn’t know what would actually happen if such a phenomenon truly occurred. But based on his past experience, he was more inclined to think that it was a ’special scene’ created by a being higher than an Angel.

"Do you think that some mastermind has created the current phenomenon?"

Feiya had recovered from choking on the water by that moment. She glanced at He Ao and then out the window at the vast island and the sea under the night sky, "But such a large extent, this terrifying phenomenon, is this something a human can do?"

"Perhaps, what we are facing, is not human."

He Ao paused briefly, then answered.

The statement instantly chilled the atmosphere of the entire conference room.

"Not human, then what?"

Kodo was somewhat bewildered.

"Angel, or a Divine Being,"

Feiya’s slender fingers rested on the edge of the table. She was aware of the mysterious knowledge passed down through ’Hao Yi’s’ words. She lifted her head, gazing at He Ao, "You mean, there is such a ’non-human’ existence in Newland City-State? He created the current situation single-handedly."

"If there were a being higher than an Angel here, we could not possibly be discussing this so calmly."

He Ao shook his head, then pointedly added, "But, the main character of this event is not limited to Newland City-State."

"You mean, on the other side of the door... "

Feiya lowered her head, deep in thought.

This was consistent with He Ao’s understanding of high beings from other worlds who were concerned with the main world.

In this realm unreachable by the divine, there were always various strange things using bizarre methods attempting to locate this place and make their advent into this world.

"If our enemies are on the other side of the door, in another world,"

Feiya pondered, raising her head to look at He Ao, "does it not mean that we can do nothing? Only wait for the two worlds to merge?"

"By then it might be too late,"

He Ao mused, "if the enemies achieve their goal, they might not give us a chance to resist."

If his speculation were accurate, even if this time the one behind the scenes was nothing more than an angel, the advent of this angel would most likely allow the gods standing behind it to obtain the coordinates of the main world.

Regardless of what made its advent, it meant that the main world would be fully exposed to the ’gaze of the gods’.

Feiya glanced out of the window again, "Since the sky has stayed unchanged, no ships have entered ’Newlon Port’ anymore, and there seems to be some kind of ’cover’ over the outside world that prevents people from entering Newland City-State. And our communication with the outside, whether it’s radio or satellite, has also been cut off, as if the undersea communication cables have been completely severed."

Chen Lin took over the conversation, "Meaning that we now can only rely on ourselves?"

"In a sense, that’s one way to understand it."

Feiya nodded her head.

"Then what should we do?"

Kodo looked at everyone, finally catching up with the pace, "If the manipulator behind the scenes is in another world, how can we stop them, go to another world? And moreover..."

He paused, sweeping his gaze over those present, not finishing his sentence.

But everyone understood what he meant.

Among them, only He Ao and Feiya were C-level. Kodo and Chen Lin were D-level; with such a lineup, combating a being more powerful than an angel would be akin to a fool’s dream.

"If only Mr. Hao Yi were here."

Chen Lin sighed softly.

Although he was not present when ’Hao Yi’ killed Wester, based on the condition of the scene afterwards and the descriptions of eyewitnesses, he had no doubts about that ’Hao Yi’s’ prowess.

If there was anyone who came close to ’angels’, who had the power to combat an angel, he believed it would have to be him.

"If Hao Yi were here, maybe today’s event wouldn’t have happened, at least not so soon,"

yet Feiya simply shook her head and gave a wry smile, "Hao Yi had barely left when this happened; although it may be a coincidence, I don’t feel it’s that simple."

"Are you saying,"

Chen Lin reflected, his expression growing somber, "that there are also people from the other world on our side?"

"If the other side has angels or even divine beings, they would not conduct such an operation without any preparation,"

Feiya pondered, "the ’Chaos’ that Wester believed in doesn’t seem like something that should exist in the real world."

The atmosphere grew heavy once again.

Although everyone had this suspicion, when someone spelled it out clearly, their spirits inevitably fell.

After all, it meant that they had to deal not only with higher beings from another world but also be wary of a traitor within their own ranks.

"Those opened doors might allow us to enter the other world."

And in this silent stillness, after a long time without speaking, He Ao suddenly spoke.

He did not mention the great danger and pressure they were facing, nor the immense hardships, but instead proposed a direction that might solve the problem.

"But those gates cannot be normally passed through,\"

Kodo continued, "Only the monsters can come out, we try to go through and those scenes immediately collapse.\"

"Actually, the monsters that are coming out now are not strong," Chen Lin also pondered, speaking softly, "It might not be that we can’t go through, but that those ’gates’ are currently not stable enough to withstand our passage.\"

Then he glanced at He Ao and continued,

"From the current situation, these ’gates’ are gradually becoming stable,

"In fact, just earlier, Minister He encountered a stable ’gate’ that did not disappear immediately on nearby Little Eleventh Street. As the two worlds draw closer, these stable gates are likely to become more numerous and more stable.\"

"So you’re saying, these ’gates’ might eventually evolve into ’passages’ that even C-level and possibly B-level can traverse?\"

Kodo stroked his chin, picking up on Chen Lin’s thoughts.

"But by the time that happens, I’m afraid this ’approach’ will already be at its end, and if we pass through then, there might be very little we can do," Chen Lin thoughtfully replied.

Indeed, the problem Chen Lin spoke of was precisely what He Ao was considering; by the time the pathways are stable enough for C-level and even B-level to cross, this ’phenomenon’ might have ’ended’.

If He Ao was the one pulling the strings behind the scenes, he would certainly find a way to abruptly end the subsequent processes as soon as the passage became accessible to C-level, forcing the Advent to happen.

It would leave no opportunity for the powerhouses of the main world to cross over and hinder his actions.

Achieving this effect might not be hard—for example, letting some powerful C-level monsters directly cross into the main world and then initiating a blood sacrifice, which would certainly yield some additional ’drive energy’.

So the current issue is, how to ’manufacture’ a passage in advance that would allow even C-level and possibly B-level to cross, only then would there be a chance to achieve a ’surprise attack’.

And it was while He Ao was pondering this that Feiya, who had been silent for a while, suddenly said, "Perhaps I can stabilize a ’passage’ in advance that would allow powerful Transcendents to pass through.\"

As she explained, watching everyone turn their gaze towards her, "My ability is quite special. I might be able to gather those special, fixed ’gates’ together, converge them to a point, and temporarily create a stable ’gate’ that C-level can pass through.\"

In the midst of speaking, her gaze unconsciously drifted towards He Ao.

The gazes of the others also drifted towards He Ao.

Unconsciously, this ’outsider’ young man had become the core of everyone’s attention.

"It’s worth a try."

He Ao laid his hands flat on the table, speaking calmly.

——

The deserted island outside the Newland City-State

He Ao’s Hao Yi clone stood in the abandoned stone house on the island, lining up several life-sized mirrors against the four walls of the stone house.

In these mirrors, they reflected a pile of neatly chopped flesh in the middle of the room.

This was the flesh of the tentacled monster he had killed, and he had asked Wu Lan to chop it and transported it here on the Velora.

Although the monster was dead, this flesh imbued with Transcendent power was still very useful material.

Looking around, He Ao fumbled for a moment and pulled out a coin emblazoned with a butterfly from his pocket.

Then he flicked it with his finger, sending the coin flying into the air.
