Chapter 688: Chapter 688: Four Levels Up (Monthly Ticket Request for the Long Chapter)

"How is the situation?"

In the resplendent hall, an eloquent elderly man calmly watched the chess game before him.

Currently, an international chessboard was set in front of him.

He played the white pieces, his opponent the black.

At this point, his knights, bishops, and pawns had all been captured, and a black rook had penetrated deep into the board, bearing down right in front of him.

"Just a minor problem, it can be resolved tonight."

A quiet response sounded in his ear.

However, this response did not come from someone beside him but from the bracelet on his hand; the elderly man seemed to be communicating with someone.

Upon hearing this response, the elderly man lifted his head and looked forward.

There was no one sitting across from him to play the game, nor was there any seat left for an opponent.

Behind the other side of the chessboard was a large floor-to-ceiling window and beyond it, a cityscape of high-rises that undulated like hills.

"I await your good news."

The elderly man lowered his head to look at the chessboard before him, lifted his hand, and picked up the queen, which had been undisturbed until now, and moved it toward the threatening black rook.

The queen, the most powerful piece on the chessboard.

"Minister?"

YiXiya made her way to the first floor, where the Pollution Cleaning Department’s team leader, who was directing the work, paused and looked at her.

"You continue,"

YiXiya waved her hand, "Don’t mind me; carry on with the investigation as planned."

She glanced around and went straight to a four-seater pickup truck by the entrance, pulled open the door, and sat down inside.

It seemed she just wanted to change her surroundings.

The team leader seemed like he wanted to say something, but seeing YiXiya’s rapid movements, he slowly closed his mouth.

South City

In the back room of Sienzi’s clinic.

Sienzi, holding a piece of paper with a recipe written on it ranging from ’Furious Man’ to ’Martial Master,’ looked up at He Ao, and then at the body beside him, "How did you come across these things and this guy?"

"He left something that could lead to him."

He Ao spoke softly.

"Some of these auxiliary materials listed here I have in part; there seems to be some kind of power entwined within this guy’s body, slowing down the formation of transcendent items from his Talent Sequences. Now, I can help extract his Talent Sequences,"

Sienzi’s gaze returned to He Ao, "But I don’t recommend you do this. That strange power looks like some kind of contamination, and this contamination is deeply intertwined with the power of the Talent Sequences. I’m afraid when you extract the Talent Sequences, they will mix into the Secret Medicine. So what are you planning to do with these Secret Medicines?"

"I’ll use them myself."

He Ao answered calmly.

"What?"

Sienzi’s eyes widened slightly, seemingly unable to believe what he had just heard. After a while, he recovered and said, "Old fellow, have you lost your mind?"

He glanced at He Ao’s waist and shoulders, "Not to mention the pollution, just the act of advancing the Talent Sequences can cause a considerable amount of harm to the body. Can your body withstand such an advancement?"

"It should work."

He Ao glanced at his personal information in the field of view, and at the moment, his physical fitness had risen to 14, and could barely reach 27 when bursting forth.

After reaching this number, however, the rate of increase in physical fitness slowed down significantly, which probably was nearing the limit of Cito’s body that he was using.

Upon hearing He Ao’s words, Sienzi was momentarily at a loss for words.

He stared into He Ao’s eyes, attempting to persuade the ’reckless’ elder once more, "Do you know what contamination is? Do you know what happens once you’re infected by it? Those contaminated will crumble, twist, and even become unrecognizable monsters."

"I’m aware," He Ao nodded calmly, "I have my own way of dealing with it."

He reached out to pick up a corpse beside him, seemingly preparing to leave, "In Saint Joen City, there will be a second person with these materials."

"You stubborn old man."

Sienzi looked at He Ao, apparently overcome with frustration. He sighed, knowing he couldn’t change He Ao’s mind. Turning around, he led He Ao towards the back of the room, "Come with me."

He Ao smiled and followed him with the items.

Sienzi pushed open a small door, revealing a white room before He Ao.

The room’s walls were fashioned into storage cabinets, each with a small glass door. Through the glass, one could vaguely see the various transcendental materials stored behind them.

"Petals of the Calming Flower..."

In front, Sienzi began to search for the items on the list of materials that He Ao had given him in the cabinets.

Soon, he had gathered all the materials.

He looked toward He Ao, walked to the center of the room where an operating platform slowly arose, "Put the body here."

He Ao carried the corpse over directly and placed it on the operating platform.

Only now did Sienzi have the time to look at the blood-covered corpse, "He seems to have been through a tough battle."

He observed the dried bloodstains.

In a moment of distraction, he seemed to hear a faint, exceedingly faint and chaotic waltz playing in his mind.

He was momentarily lost in thought.

But it was at the very moment the waltz played that a hand suddenly grabbed his wrist. The external interruption jolted him, and he snapped out of his bewilderment.

He looked up to see He Ao, who had grabbed his hand, and seemed a bit bewildered.

"I’ll do it," He Ao stood in front of the operating table, partially blocking Sienzi. "You guide me, and I will operate."

Sienzi came to his senses, looking at He Ao with some surprise, "Aren’t you afraid?"

"Who do you think brought him over?"

He Ao gave him a glance and chuckled, "Did you always think I was joking?"

The surprise in Sienzi’s pupils transformed into shock, and after a good while, he stepped back and made space for He Ao to operate, "You always seem to display strength and methods beyond my understanding."

He sighed, seemingly resigned to the situation, "Even if you now claim to be a friend of divine beings, I wouldn’t be surprised."

’Friend of divine beings’ is slang popular amongst several southeast cities near Saint Joen, meaning to describe someone as having vast divine powers, always able to do things ordinary people can’t.

He Ao looked up at him, took a scalpel from nearby, and said offhandedly, "I do have quite a few divine friends indeed."

Sienzi, while grinding materials in a mortar, looked up and gave He Ao a blank stare, "Old man, I was just dramatically exclaiming, and you just took it and ran down the slope with it, huh."

See, no one believes the truth.

He Ao shrugged.

Having learned from the recent experience, Sienzi no longer focused on Night Hawk’s body.

Together with He Ao, they extracted the Talent Sequences from Night Hawk’s body and reconstituted them into Secret Medicine.

The potion-making process was quite simple, using the auxiliary materials from the Secret Medicine recipe to gradually lure out the corresponding Talent Sequences, integrating them into the auxiliary materials. Then, the integrated materials were mixed with some more auxiliary materials, and through methods like scorching or extraction, they were recombined into a new Secret Medicine.

As Sienzi had initially stated, these Talent Sequences clearly contained contamination that could not be separated.

The final concoction, a red secret medicine liquid, always had a faint purple gleam flickering within.

"Furious Man, Fighter, Martial Artist, Martial Master."

Sienzi guided He Ao to place the prepared Secret Medicine on the test tube rack.

The Mithril Test Tubes containing the Secret Medicine seemed to effectively isolate some of the contamination, allowing Sienzi to look at these tubes relatively easily,

"If there was a ’Pharmacologist’ here, relying on their knowledge of the properties of Transcendent materials, there might be a way to separate the contamination as much as possible."

"Talent Sequence 71: Pharmacologist?"

He Ao, standing on the side, said offhand.

If he remembered correctly, the leader of the Scavenger from the last Copy World, Heish, belonged to this Talent Sequence.

"I used to know an Elderly in Vitland who was a Pharmacologist,"

Sienzi sighed, "He was a good person and taught me a lot about pharmacology. But so many years have passed, he must have passed away now. We often used to talk about responsibility and ideals, it’s a pity he didn’t seem to achieve his."

"If he didn’t achieve it, maybe his descendants did."

He Ao chimed in without much thought.

Upon hearing this, Sienzi was taken aback, remembered the news he had read earlier, and smiled wryly, "Indeed, we’re not alone in this world."

Then he lowered his head to look at the four vials of Secret Medicine on the rack, "Which one will you use to advance? You’re at least C-level now, right? Are you planning to become a Martial Master? Have you prepared for the ceremony?"

"No," He Ao shook his head and picked up the lightest-colored vial, "I’ll start with ’Furious Man.’"

"Ah?"

Sienzi was confused, "You’re not a Transcendent yet?"

"That’s right."

He Ao looked at the test tube in his hand and slowly removed the wooden stopper.

"Will you make it in time to advance now?"

Sienzi asked again, shocked, "Normally, even if you master the Talent Sequence, it takes several years to reach C-level at the fastest."

"I’ll make it."

He Ao replied and directly poured the liquid from the test tube into the air.

Boom—

A violent noise suddenly exploded in his mind; following the scorching flow of the Secret Medicine down his throat was the twisted, chaotic force of contamination.

Together, these two forces burst explosively, and the immense power instantly struck He Ao’s body.

He Ao stiffened, a mouthful of fresh blood surging back in his mouth.

"How are you?"

Seeing this, Sienzi immediately went to grab medicine for injuries.

"No need."

He Ao shook his head and steadied himself on the workbench.

In that instant, he activated Super Memory; his body, which was barely holding up, suddenly grew strong and effortlessly neutralized the impact.

At that moment, relying solely on his physical condition, he could actually withstand the shock of advancing to ’Furious Man’ at F-level, but the impact carried contamination of a high order, creating an unimaginable burden on the body.

While activating Super Memory, He Ao also began to recall in his mind the pattern that once appeared in his mind, as if it was the ’reflection’ of Winding Hill.

As this image surfaced in his mind, the scattered pollutants within his body seemed to be attracted by some force, converging towards He Ao’s mind.

Indeed, these pollutants were drawn to higher-level contamination.

While He Ao was recalling this, as the pollutants abandoned his body and began trying to breach his spirit, the pressure his body was under greatly decreased. He then closed his Super Memory and started guiding the energy of the Talent Sequences within his body along the pathways prescribed by Martial Arts.

Soon, his physical aptitude began to grow at a perceptible rate.

He Ao opened his personal attributes page and watched as the numbers for his physical aptitude rapidly increased. Eventually, the number settled at 45.

Most F-level Transcendents have a physical aptitude in the twenties or thirties at most. An aptitude of 45 was already close to that of an average E-level Transcendent.

"Did it work?"

Seeing He Ao’s aura becoming calmer, Sienzi looked at him with some surprise.

He vaguely felt that He Ao’s presence was unusually strong, not quite like a newly promoted F-level Transcendent, but more like an E-level one.

"Yeah."

He Ao responded and then reached out to grab the E-level ’Fighter’ Secret Medicine, removing the cork.

"Wait, after a successful promotion, you should first attempt to master the Talent Sequences of..."

Sienzi hurriedly reached out to try and stop He Ao.

However, by this moment, He Ao had already downed the Secret Medicine in his hand.

An impact almost identical to the previous one, but much more intense, exploded within He Ao’s body.

With the experience from last time, he very skillfully opened his Super Memory, then attracted the pollutants and digested the Secret Medicine.

In just a moment, he had cleanly digested the ’Fighter’ Secret Medicine.

At this point, his physical aptitude had reached 135.

He was now comparable to a slightly weaker D-level individual.

This was due to both his own Martial Arts Training and Cito’s body, and He Ao’s efficient use of the Secret Medicine. But in a sense, Cito himself was also very compatible with this Talent Sequence.

After fully promoting to ’Fighter,’ He Ao didn’t hesitate to pick up the D-level ’Martial Artist’ Secret Medicine and drank it in one go.

Sienzi stared blankly at this scene, "Old man, are you drinking soda?"

The same process of eliminating pollutants was repeated, and for He Ao, who was not promoting to ’Martial Artist’ for the first time, it was a walk in the park.

Soon, he had integrated the strength of the Martial Artist into his body.

At this time, his physical aptitude had soared to a terrifying 298.

Then He Ao directly picked up the final ’Martial Master’ Secret Medicine.

"Hold on,"

This time, Sienzi finally reached out in an attempt to stop him, "Promoting to C-level requires a ceremony. Without the ceremony, the promotion can easily lead to loss of control over one’s power, not to mention the presence of pollutants. I know you’re powerful, but don’t be reckless."

"I’ve already completed the ceremony,"

Looking into Sienzi’s sincere eyes, He Ao responded with a smile.

The ceremony for ’Martial Master’ demanded that the promoter use fighting skills or Martial Techniques to achieve as many victories as possible against stronger opponents within a week.

Blood Wolf, the Scorpion Gang boss, Shadow Cutter—every enemy He Ao had previously encountered was much stronger than him.

Even with Super Memory activated, his strength was far from matching these foes, and each enemy was stronger than the last.

Yet, in the end, all these foes had fallen while he still stood.

Besides, from another perspective, since the start of the Copy World, without activating Super Memory, He Ao had been using his frail body to confront gang members, F-level, and even E-level Transcendents, always prevailing against stronger opponents through Martial Techniques.

He Ao gently broke free from Sienzi’s grasp and poured the ’Martial Master’ Secret Medicine into his mouth.
