Chapter 635: Chapter 635: Madman and King (Requesting Monthly Pass)
The sharp spear scraped across the thick gate, accompanied by dazzling, brilliant electric light, the massive and towering gate finally shattered at this moment, breaking open a man-high hole.
The bowed figure holding the spear slowly pried open the reinforced metal bar embedded in the gate’s interior, gazing into the inner side of the grand arched gate.
It was a magnificent and spacious round hall.
The sleek, pure silver arched metal walls constituted the main structure of the hall, and massive circular chandeliers, like stars fallen from the sky, were scattered above and below, forming the sources of light that illuminated the hall.
Twelve huge silver metal columns, glowing faintly, were scattered upright on the clean, mirror-like metallic floor, like stars forming a dazzling constellation.
In the midst of these twelve metal columns stood a massive hollow silver-gray dodecahedron crystal. This crystal, with edges over two meters long, had one vertex resting on the ground, supporting its entire body.
The star-like lights above shone upon its glowing surfaces, reflecting bright, sparkling radiance.
This place did not resemble the core control room of a spaceship but seemed more like a sacred chapel, dedicated to divine beings.
The bowed figure’s gaze passed through the upright metal columns and lingered above the dodecahedron crystal.
There, a golden bracelet inlaid with red, yellow, blue, green, and purple gemstones and engraved with bas-reliefs of lions, tigers, elephants, and whales was floating in mid-air, continuously rotating.
Fresh blood stained the luxurious golden bracelet, reflecting a bizarre color in the sanctified hall.
The bowed figure glanced at the gleaming floor before him and then back at the dim cabin behind him, smeared with fresh blood and strewn with corpses.
He lifted the spear, crossed over the gate, and step by step, moved towards the center of the hall.
The moment he crossed the gate, his mind instantly cleared, the clamoring voices and illusions all dissipated in that instant.
The clean floor reflected his grey-streaked body.
He stared at the floating golden bracelet above; he knew it was what had always been drawing him in.
With each step closer to the bracelet, he felt his memory becoming blurred, the memories of how he got here, why he was here, all fading away bit by bit.
Finally, he reached the center of the hall, in front of the dodecahedron crystal. He reached out, attempting to climb onto the crystal to touch the floating golden bracelet.
And just as he stretched out his hand, a faint, semi-transparent glow overflowed from the twelve metal columns.
The bowed figure felt his hand touch an invisible wall.
The outstretched palm pressed against the invisible barrier as though into a mass of cotton, then a powerful suction force surged out, beginning to voraciously absorb his strength.
He quickly retracted his hand and stepped back a half-step.
Then he looked up at the surrounding metal columns; apparently, this invisible wall was related to these pillars. If he destroyed these pillars...
"I think you might not want to touch that thing, at least not right now,"
At that moment, the voice of a young man, slightly out of breath, sounded behind him.
The bowed figure turned around and looked back, fixing his gaze on that somewhat familiar face, his eyes tracing over the newcomer’s tattered clothes and the wounds covering his skin,
"It seems things have not been smooth for you on your way here?"
"Not too bad."
He Ao, carrying a mechanical broadsword, smiled and straightened up.
He observed the surrounding metal columns and, surprisingly, this was the part of the ship where contamination was lowest, the ship’s core control room.
And from these metal columns, He Ao could faintly sense some familiar essences, traces of Martial Arts Divine Sense.
He activated his Divine Sense to scan the surroundings.
"He Ao, you are a pretty good guy,"
Ivier looked at He Ao, "I don’t think we need to be at odds like this; we could cooperate."
"Is that a B-level Transcendent item?"
He Ao looked up at the floating golden bracelet and then at Ivier, "It seems you really need it. Is it related to your advancement to B-level? Is this your true purpose?"
"You’re very smart."
Ivier smiled.
"What about the First Mate’s Authority Key?"
He Ao asked in a low voice.
Upon hearing this, Ivier paused, then chuckled. "It seems we’re not exactly taking a multiple-choice test, are we?"
"That sounds rather greedy."
He Ao shrugged.
"So," Ivier looked at He Ao, "have you made up your mind?"
"How did you get the information about this ship?"
Instead of answering directly, He Ao turned the question around.
"If you’re willing to be my ally,"
Ivier smiled as he looked at He Ao, "then I wouldn’t mind sharing that secret with you."
"It seems your source of information is very ’reliable’?"
He Ao gripped the hilt of his knife, asking softly.
"Not exactly reliable," Ivier held his spear, "but our cooperation has been very pleasant,"
he looked at the blood-stained cheek of He Ao,
"Do you think I’m a man who betrays and sells out anyone? No, no, no, you’ve got it wrong, I just make the choice that maximizes my interests at the right time.
"If we have a common interest, I can cooperate with anyone, whether they are a friend or an enemy, including you, young He Ao.
"I don’t know where you got your information or where you found the clues that led you here,"
he said with a smile, "but now we can cooperate. I’m not a heartless demon who kills without blinking. The golden bracelet goes to me, the First Mate’s Authority Key goes to you. We each get what we need, and everyone entering this ship from the Research Institute can live. You might even become the master of this ship, and we can all get what we want."
As He Ao gradually revealed his knowledge of the ship, the stakes Ivier offered were also increasing.
"That sounds like a pretty good deal," He Ao looked at Ivier, "so where is the First Mate’s Authority Key?"
"Right, that’s the spirit of a wise man," Ivier chuckled, turned around, and signaled He Ao to walk beside him. "Cooperation always brings more benefits than confrontation."
He Ao walked side by side with him, keeping a sufficient distance between them.
Ivier did not seem angry at He Ao’s behavior; instead, he led He Ao around the massive dodecahedral crystal with a smile, "If I remember correctly, it should be right..."
Beyond the crystal, there wasn’t much else in the hall that could block the view; at the moment they circled the crystal, He Ao caught sight of the deepest part of the entire hall.
At the very back of the hall, behind the last metal pillar, there was a semi-transparent glass barrier.
This glass barrier and the wall behind it formed an enclosed space.
Through the glass barrier, one could vaguely make out the scene inside this enclosed space.
A human skeleton that only had its bones left and exuded a crystalline jade-like texture was seated behind the barrier, with dried blood spread all over the ground beneath it.
This was the first time He Ao had seen a complete human skeleton since he entered this flying ship.
The skeleton had its head tilted back as if it were gazing at something, and on its hand, it wore a silver mechanical bracelet.
It appeared that was the First Mate’s Authority Key.
However, He Ao did not fix his gaze on the mechanical bracelet.
Almost the instant he clearly saw the skeleton, he violently lifted his mechanical broadsword.
Kang—
The sharp spear collided with the broad blade.
A dent appeared on the broadsword’s huge blade.
He Ao gave a forceful shake, repelling the spear, and at the same time, clasped the hilt with both hands, lifted the hefty broadsword, and pressed the heating button on the hilt.
"My heartfelt words have failed to gain your trust."
Ivier looked at He Ao with a sense of regret in his tone.
"For you," He Ao watched him, "the most advantageous choice here would be to eliminate me and simultaneously acquire the bracelet and authority key, as well as the merits for killing a C-level from the Research Institute."
"Kid, being too clever can cause you to miss out on a lot of fun."
Ivier picked up the spear, like a wolf king baring its fangs, and stabbed towards He Ao.
He Ao focused on the spear tip.
Ivier had concealed his true strength; his actual power was even stronger than when they had clashed in the main world before, and those grey patterns all over Ivier’s body also gave He Ao an ominous premonition.
It was precisely because of this strength that Ivier harbored the thought of disposing of He Ao and monopolizing all the gains.
He Ao gripped the hilt firmly.
The glowing hot blade swept through the air.

Velora
The clone of He Ao sat at the front of the vehicle, opened the computer, and retrieved the quota allocation and personnel list that had been reported to him by the three major organizations.
Each leader of the three major organizations had a copy of this list, and as the key holder to the opened relic, He Ao was also conveniently given one.
Of course, this list only contained simple names, without even a mention of their ranks.
Moreover, the selection process by the various organizations was not entirely confidential, so this list was more or less public, devoid of any significant value.
Then, He Ao took out another document, which contained information he had gathered in recent days based on the names on that list, utilizing Daybreak’s resources to investigate.
Amongst this information, that which pertained to the Research Institute was the least, but He Ao didn’t require information on the Transcendents from the Research Institute, since, as the overall person in charge of the Research Institute this time, he already possessed the most complete information on these Transcendents.
He swiftly skipped over the Transcendents from the Research Institute and looked at the remaining parts.
The information of the Transcendents from the World Tree and Moonlight that were entering the relic.
Now that He Ao was the senior person in charge of the Daybreak organization of the Tia Empire, the information on the Transcendents from the Tia Empire was the most comprehensive.
Of course, there was also substantial information on World Tree Transcendents.
The nations of the Western Lands stood in great numbers, and within the World Tree, there were the most peaks among the three big organizations, with poor security work done, leaking information like a sieve, making it easy to obtain their Transcendents’ details.
He Ao moved the mouse, carefully flipping through this information.
As the images of these individuals and their related information entered He Ao’s pupils, and after categorizing their habits and trajectories based on the data,
He Ao’s gaze eventually rested on the detailed introduction of one person.
Finally, he closed the laptop, looking out of the front window through the vehicle’s windshield.
Outside was an eerie silence.
Unlike shuttling within the main world, on this ’long journey’, the ’scenery’ outside the window was no longer monotonous darkness.
Distorted colors and bizarre clouds drifted past the window from time to time.
They made no sound, but every time He Ao laid eyes on them, he heard twisted singing, chaotic murmurs.
Whenever He Ao peered out the window, a kind of distorted palpitation would stir deep within him, driving him, trying to make him open the door and walk into the splendid world outside.
On several occasions, He Ao had been driven by this palpitation to lift his foot, but then he quickly retracted it.
With the ’travel’ continuing, He Ao was now somewhat accustomed to these scenes, and was rarely affected by that palpitation anymore.
The transparent window gradually turned as black as ink, shutting out the view outside.
But those murmurs echoing in He Ao’s mind did not fade away.
He Ao drew his gaze back, looking straight ahead.
Time was running out for him.
——
Navigator · Core Control Room
He Ao’s body flew through the air, passing through the large hole in the gate and slamming into the wall outside the gate.
A dim glow cascaded down his cheeks as bright red blood spilled from the corners of his mouth.
Clutching the mechanical greatsword in his hand, he staggered to his feet.
Greyish-purple fluid, illuminated with a dim light, flowed from the wounds on his shoulder, waist, and abdomen.
In front of him, Ivier also used his spear to support his body, stepping out of the gate and looking out at He Ao.
Ivier was in no better shape than He Ao, with fine grey lines now covering his entire body. His already torn clothes were even more ragged, with charred flesh and burnt wounds beneath them.
If an ordinary person had sustained such injuries, they would have long since died, but Ivier still stood before He Ao.
"I admit, I underestimated you. Given time, it’s not impossible for you to become a B-level, or even an Angel," Ivier said, using his spear to prop himself up, his gaze sharp as a wolf’s as he stared at He Ao. "You are different from those waste materials, you grow quickly, and you could become my greatest enemy in the future,"
He lifted his spear, "So, you must die today."
The dense grey marks rapidly spread across his body.
Ivier raised his spear and charged at He Ao again.
By now, He Ao could clearly feel that Ivier’s consciousness was not clear, his rationality was gradually turning into extreme madness.
This C-level powerhouse of the World Tree was being corroded by the grey lines, slipping into twisted madness step by step.
Those grey lines brought him significant power enhancement, bringing him infinitely close to B-level strength. They also brought the contamination of a Higher Being.
Every Blessing comes at a price.
The blade, enveloped in flames, collided with the spear, parrying the incoming thrust.
"You look like you are about to go mad," He Ao said as he got extremely close to Ivier. He activated his Super Memory, forcefully pushing down Ivier’s spear, looking into his eyes.
"I am fine right now."
Ivier looked into He Ao’s eyes, his mouth twisting into a smile. Grey lines crawled up his cheeks, and in his pitch-black pupils, it seemed as if a red carpet, a cheering crowd, a crown, and a scepter were reflected.
"Power and strength are the most intoxicating wines in this world,"
Clusters of sinewy muscles, hard as steel, bulged from his arms. With a sudden force, he knocked He Ao away once again.
With a smile on his face, he stood on the steel slope,
"I know this ’Blessing’ is coveting my body, and I also know that the person who gave me this ’Blessing’ wants to use me. But in the same way, I covet its power, ’use’ is always mutual. Even a madman seated on the throne is still a king," Ivier said.
Below his feet, the slope piled with endless blood and steel corpses began to tremble.
He Ao looked at Ivier’s body, which was gradually being swallowed by the grey marks.
Ivier was not going mad because of the corruption; he was actively embracing madness.
This twisted obsession with power allowed him to maintain a warped sense of reason within his madness.
"Rest assured, He Ao, after you die, I’ll send that guy to hell to accompany you," Ivier said as he lifted his hand. The blood-stained steel beneath his feet began compressing and gathering.
He Ao reached out and grasped the hilt of the bone sword behind him.
