Chapter 347: Chapter 347: Heart (Please Subscribe, Bookmark, and Vote for Monthly Tickets)

He Ao watched as his older brother departed.

Their mother slowly propped herself up from the bed, the icy synthetic quilt covering her frail body. Her eyes were already somewhat clouded as she slowly reached out, her somewhat cold hand gently grasping He Ao’s fingers,

"It’s okay, child, everything will get better."

Sunlight streamed through the crude window, casting itself upon He Ao’s cold cheeks.

Like a cold wind scraping across his face.

He suddenly jerked to the side, dodging the incoming arthropod limb. The surrounding scene instantly shattered, and he looked up at the gigantic white spider before him.

His hands were firmly stuck to the rocks by the spider silk, glowing faintly with a red hue.

Records by the Wilderness Wanderers on Blood Spiders are scarce because those who have seen them are mostly dead.

The wanderers only knew that Blood Spiders were pure white, liked to torment their prey, and would mash their prey into bright red pulp. Wherever they went, they left behind trails paved with masses of blood, staining the ground red, which is how Blood Spiders got their name.

Beyond that, they also knew that Soul Spider Silk was the spider silk from Blood Spiders, but what the effects of the silk were, they didn’t have a clue.

Those who have seen Blood Spiders might survive because the spider had its fill, but those who encountered Soul Spider Silk mostly perished.

Even the name Soul Spider Silk comes from ancient generations passing down the stories.

He Ao tugged at his arm stuck in the spider silk, but it didn’t budge.

The silk was incredibly sticky; despite He Ao’s physical condition allowing him to easily lift two to three thousand kilograms, he could not easily break free from this silk.

Under Super Memory’s perspective, the translucent spider silk, glowing red, seemed to contain clusters of Phantom Shadows screaming in agony—they appeared to be the anguished souls of prey tortured to death by the Blood Spider.

The Blood Spider’s fondness for tormenting its prey might not just be its nature—it also needed those miserable souls to weave its beautiful silk.

These desperate souls would infect those struck by the spider silk, awakening the most painful memories of the victims, drowning them in their suffering recollections.

Even with resistance like He Ao’s, memories of Nell were awakened. An ordinary C-level might fall directly into a world of memories, never able to return, until they are tortured and killed by the Blood Spider.

This giant spider was trickier than imagined.

He Ao looked up at the Blood Spider.

As he attempted to struggle, the Blood Spider did not attack him but quietly watched him, making a piercing and eerie sound from its mouth.

It seemed to greatly enjoy seeing its prey struggle in desperation.

Its voice was filled with mockery, seemingly laughing at the helplessness of this prey which had just harmed it.

But it didn’t really let He Ao go and, after a brief pause, the sharp, pointed limb came attacking again.

He Ao quickly dodged, holding his short sword in front, barely avoiding the attack.

But then, another sharp limb came thrusting from the side near the cliff wall.

He Ao’s hand was stuck to the cliff, and he could no longer dodge to the side.

He leapt forcefully, his arm stuck on the cliff wall bending slightly, veins bulging, his entire body parallel to the ground, supported only by the arm glued to the cliff wall.

The limb, like a white spear, shot beneath He Ao and plunged into the snowy ground.

It splattered bits of crimson ice.

The spider seemed not to expect He Ao to avoid that too. Its already piercing and eerie voice suddenly became more urgent, filled with rage. It roared, and its two limbs attacked like a storm.

The primary weapons of attack for Blood Spiders seemed to be their two sharpest front limbs. These limbs moved extremely fast and were incredibly tough and sharp, capable of smashing thick rock as if it were soft sand.

He Ao’s figure flickered continuously with each attack of the Blood Spider.

His long coat was slashed with multiple horizontal cuts, and his bulging muscular skin bore several bloody streaks.

However, these injuries were not severe; they did not damage his body and did not hinder his movement at all.

The Transcendent ability of a ’Martial Artist’ is to have a talent-like learning ability for various physical skills and martial arts techniques that humans have already learned and possessed, and to be able to quickly replicate and display them.

Therefore, the sword techniques of Regit in He Ao’s mind, the physical skills of Vian, and the hunting skills of Ronald could all be performed effortlessly without any hindrance.

Relying on his body’s flexibility and various techniques, He Ao evaded most of the attacks from the Blood Spider, despite having a body quality and speed that were far inferior by an entire class.

The Blood Spider became increasingly irate as it fought, a faint red light spreading from its body; it began to concentrate all its energy into a mad output.

He Ao was already struggling to keep up with its speed, and he had narrowly missed having his heart pierced several times.

The Blood Spider seemed to sense He Ao’s sluggishness, and its excitement grew as it increased the frequency of its attacks.

When an attacker furiously focuses all its attention on the offense, it means that its vigilance on the other aspects will drop.

Amid his rapid, Phantom Shadow-like dodging, a slight smile curved the corners of He Ao’s mouth.

He slowly gripped the twin swords in his hands.

Super Memory outlined the combat model and trajectory of the Blood Spider, while Divine Sense revealed to him the pathways where all energy flowed within the Blood Spider’s body.

In past battles, He Ao had to rely on Super Memory to simulate calculations to find his opponent’s weak points, which was time-consuming and imprecise, but now Divine Sense crudely and directly outlined all the weak points and fatal areas for He Ao.

With the D-level Mage Talent ’Magician’, he relied on Super Memory to kill C-level enemies in the ruins; now, with the D-level combat Talent ’Martial Artist’ and both Super Memory and Divine Sense in hand, why would he be afraid of the Blood Spider?

Sizzle—

Accompanied by a crisp sound, the Soul Spider Silk that had been restraining He Ao’s movements was suddenly torn apart.

Throughout numerous dodges, He Ao had gradually torn tiny slits into the web of silk; he was already capable of breaking free but was simply waiting for an opportunity.

Two cold sword lights surged towards the sky, accompanied by his snowy white figure.

The Blood Spider seemed to have not anticipated this scene at all; its explosive attacks had led to a brief mental pattern, and it didn’t react in time.

And most hesitations were like the clapper of a bell tolling the knell of death.

It raised the two limb segments in front of its body to attack He Ao again, but it was too late; He Ao’s figure had already descended in front of its head.

The sharp twin swords penetrated between the Blood Spider’s giant six eyes, and an intense red brilliance exploded within its body.

It swung its limbs, attempting to pierce He Ao, but the sound of crisp clicks interrupted its thoughts.

That was the sound of the muscles that manipulated its flesh being torn apart by chaotic energy.

Cracks spread over the snowy white limbs, revealing the fresh red flesh inside.

The Blood Spider’s massive body stiffened momentarily, then collapsed to the left side, crashing down and scattering a swath of giant ice crystals.

He Ao stood on the back of the Blood Spider, with the wind that passed through the canyon picking up the tattered strips of his windbreaker.

The sharp dagger penetrated the exoskeleton on the back.

Under a series of back and forth sawing motions, a cut was made on the large, hard exoskeleton, revealing the fresh red flesh inside.

He Ao peeled away the flesh, searching bit by bit, and finally, an organ resembling two balloons stuck together, one large and one small, appeared before him.

The heart of the Blood Spider.
