The still night’s sea breeze brushed against a person’s profile, and the sky above was a brilliant tapestry of stars.
Yang De lit a cigarette, holding it in his mouth, and began to slowly narrate,
"Daybreak is not a particularly old organization. It has only been established for a dozen years or so. Of course, the Research Institute’s history isn’t much longer either."
He exhaled a ring of smoke and continued, "Unlike the Research Institute and the majority of Transcendent organizations in the world that adhere to the principle of ’restraining the Transcendent, maintaining peace,’ Daybreak’s philosophy is much more radical.
Daybreak advocates that the age of the Transcendent has arrived, and instead of restraining Transcendent powers, it would be better to openly disclose them, allowing Transcendents to stand clearly on the stage, and establish a new world order dominated by Transcendents, governed by strength."
"Survival of the fittest?"
He Ao murmured softly.
"Exactly," Yang De nodded,
"Their philosophy is radical, creating a division between Transcendents and ordinary people, believing that the order of ordinary people restricts the freedom of Transcendents. Transcendents, as the possessors of power, should have more privileges, more rights to act recklessly.
The world should be ruled by Transcendents.
But in reality, Transcendents are also born from ordinary people; they have their own social relationships within ordinary society, and they too are part of the society of ordinary people. Although the order restricts Transcendents, it also protects them. After all, no one can claim to be invincible at this moment.
A murderer can also be killed by others, and even if the other party is weak, they can attack the murderer’s family members. This perpetuates hatred and chaos.
This is still just among Transcendents."
"Strife will also arise between Transcendents and ordinary people," He Ao picked up where Yang De left off,
"No one wants to live under someone who can capriciously decide their life and death. Ordinary people unrelated to Transcendents wouldn’t want to live in a domain dominated by Transcendents, becoming the oppressed.
And ordinary people are not without the ability to resist. Even weaker Transcendents, such as F-level and E-level, can accidentally be hit by gunfire, can still die.
According to Daybreak’s thinking, the whole world would become chaotic.
And there’s another most important factor,"
He Ao raised his head to look at Yang De and said calmly, "Pollution."
"Correct,"
Yang De, with the cigarette in his mouth, nodded lightly.
Talent, or Talent Sequences, naturally contain an unknowable secrecy and pollution.
In the Copy World, even the Federal Bureau of Investigation, which has important ties to the Wilderness, wouldn’t impart C-level or higher Transcendent knowledge to its lower-level agents. The more one knows, the deeper one’s involvement with Transcendent affairs, the easier it is to be targeted by Transcendent incidents, getting entangled in one Transcendent event after another.
In the Wilderness, the elders of younger Wanderers typically prevent them from learning about D-level or higher Transcendent powers. The more they are exposed, the higher the likelihood of encountering crazed exotic beasts or bizarre Transcendent events in the Wilderness.
Once involved in a powerful Transcendent incident, some weaker ordinary people can easily become blood fodder for Transcendent items, or be corrupted by pollution into monsters.
Of course, the Copy World is even more dangerous than the main world in one aspect: once ordinary people gain knowledge of Transcendence, they can easily be drawn into Evil God incidents, becoming followers of the Evil God.
So far, He Ao has yet to discover traces and records of Evil Gods in the main world.
In conclusion, the secretive nature of being dragged into related incidents once one gains knowledge, along with the pollution that ordinary people cannot withstand, is likely an important reason why both the main world and the Copy World are reluctant to disclose the existence of Transcendent powers.
Knowledge itself is also toxic.
Transcendents attract each other.
"That’s why larger Transcendent organizations around the world are opposed to Daybreak’s ideas," Yang De continued,
"But Daybreak isn’t willing to give up their ideals, and their ideas have also attracted some Transcendents who have committed serious crimes everywhere. Daybreak does not reject these individuals but accepts them all without exception.
As these villains and scoundrels gathered, they gradually formed what is ’Daybreak’ today, and after absorbing these individuals, they pretty much partake in all sorts of nefarious activities.
This has also led to their inclusion in the blacklist of various countries, basically barring their members from entering other countries through normal channels."
It sounds like an international Transcendent criminal organization.
"Are there many strong individuals within Daybreak?"
He Ao asked softly.
"Over the years, they have absorbed quite a few fugitive villains. There should be more than ten at C-level and probably only two at B-level."
Yang De pondered for a moment, then answered somewhat hesitantly.
Only two at B-level? He Ao was slightly taken aback before he asked, "Are there any at A-level?"
"No."
Yang De shook his head, looked at He Ao, and spoke slowly, "Currently, there shouldn’t be any A-level existences in the world."
No A-level?!
He Ao was slightly startled then unassumingly turned and asked, "If there’s no A-level, then the classification of an A-level..."
"Actually, this classification system wasn’t created by us. It was found in ruins. We discovered some records depicting Transcendent powers in the ruins, which included a rough classification system."
Yang De elaborated, "In fact, that document also mentioned that there’s some kind of connection among Talents, but the most crucial part was missing. We’re not clear about the specifics it detailed.
"What we do know is that certain Talents can advance by devouring the remnants of more powerful Transcendents or by consuming certain Transcendent items. However, the advancement process is very dangerous, with a high likelihood of death, or mutation into monsters. Even for those who survive, there’s a chance of mental derangement."
A world of Transcendents, both mad and chaotic.
He Ao, looking up at the stars in the sky, asked, "Isn’t there a safe method to advance?"
"There is actually,"
Yang De fell into deep thought, assuming He Ao was contemplating advancement,
"In some ruins, we found liquids with Transcendent powers sealed within Mithril test tubes. Evidence suggests that the correct Talent consuming this liquid can achieve advancement, and as long as they withstand the pain during advancement, there are no significant side effects.
"However, the highest level of this liquid we’ve found so far is E-level."
Which means C-level advancing to B-level is currently unachievable, not yet possible.
Understanding Yang De’s implication, He Ao asked calmly, "Is there a way to produce this liquid?"
"No," Yang De shook his head,
"We don’t know where this liquid comes from. It’s not like the blood of an exotic beast, nor is it like the sap of some Transcendent plant. The prevailing view is that the human civilization within the ruins synthesized this liquid by extracting Transcendent powers from exotic beasts using some technological means, as it’s quite clear that the technology of the ruins is more advanced than ours."
