Clang—
He Ao stretched out his arms, blocking the two weapons swung at him.
One was a slender and sharp dagger, reflecting a cold light, belonging to Hu Wen; it was aimed directly at He Ao’s throat, but he caught it with his bare hands.
The other weapon was a strangely shaped, crescent-like curved sword, with a cast iron appearance and a sharpened blade glinting with a faint silver light, which He Ao blocked with his forearm.
Balan and Hu Wen were both stunned, not expecting He Ao to block their attacks with such ease.
At the same time, He Ao connected two more batteries, pushing the output power of the Adam Type 1 to 110%.
A slight overclocking state.
The alloy material of the main parts of the Adam Type 1 was very hard, so blocking the force of a C-level attack for a short time was not a problem.
Of course, this was because it was He Ao himself piloting; if it had been Vian, he would have been much more cautious, as even the recoil from a C-level attack could injure Vian.
But He Ao’s body was much stronger than Vian’s.
He Ao shook forcefully, briefly repelling Balan, then gripping Hu Wen’s dagger, he lifted it upwards and threw a punch into Hu Wen’s abdomen, sending him flying into a helicopter that hadn’t taken off yet. Hu Wen hit hard, spat out a mouthful of blood, and passed out.
Hu Wen had already been half-dead from Yang De’s beating, and even though he had reluctantly received some treatment and regained some mobility, his combat power was extremely weak.
In a situation of one against many, the priority was to neutralize the weakest first; taking out his ability to attack before dealing with the stronger one, to avoid being caught in a pincer attack.
At that moment, Balan charged again, scraping a knife towards the back of He Ao’s neck, intending to decapitate him.
He Ao quickly grabbed the bone sword from his back and pulled it out sharply, turning around to block the curved sword.
The Mecha structure, which couldn’t previously close due to the presence of the bone sword, rapidly sealed shut.
The Adam Type 1 wasn’t equipped with a sturdy close-combat alloy sword, but that wasn’t a problem, for He Ao carried his own bone sword.
Using similar equipment, He Ao could clearly sense the strength of Balan.
Compared to Chaos, Balan was indeed a bit weak.
If he could switch the Adam Type 1 and the high-performance batteries for an Adam Type 2 and a micro-fusion reactor, He Ao was even confident that he could take Balan down in just a few moves.
Too bad that wasn’t possible.
After a brief exchange, Balan quickly realized that his strength was significantly lacking compared to the man in iron armor. He rolled away, snatched a submachine gun from the hand of a pirate, and sprayed a burst of gunfire at He Ao.
At the same time, all the pirates around started shooting at He Ao.
Raindrops and bullets mixed together, striking the Mecha and producing a clear sound.
He Ao raised his hand and shot down a helicopter that had just taken off and was firing at him, then, with a step, he rushed towards Balan with the bone sword.
Balan saw that firearms were useless, quickly retreated, picked up a rocket launcher, and aimed it at He Ao.
Bang—
The rocket launcher exploded upon He Ao, the flames briefly obscuring his form.
Balan glanced at the flames, and the next second, the silver and black Mecha burst out of the fire, swinging the bone sword straight at his head.
He picked up the curved sword to meet the attack in haste and was sent flying, crashing into a nearby bridge-build and was instantly embedded in it.
The pirates around, who had been firing crazily, seeing their invincible boss beaten so badly, slowly lowered their guns.
Just then, a furious roar suddenly came from the middle of the bridge-build.
The pirates, who had laid down their weapons, suddenly started screaming like they were on banned substances, and a barrage of bullets and shells poured down on He Ao.
Under this torrential rain of bullets and shells, He Ao slightly frowned and increased the distance from the bridge-build.
Dust and flames momentarily obscured his vision.
Making these pirates go temporarily insane seemed to be Balan’s ability.
This power had some similarities to the "Talent Sequences 120: Noncommissioned Officer" He Ao had seen before, which seemed to standardize all soldiers, as they followed the commander’s orders.
But Balan’s ability was more about driving all the pirates insane, making them frenziedly attack the same target.
Given the similarities between these two abilities, perhaps Balan’s Talent was somehow related to that of the "Noncommissioned Officer."
As the mix of explosion smoke and rain veiled He Ao’s vision, a dark shadow silently approached from behind, and a crescent-shaped blade instantly swiped at He Ao’s neck.
Bang—
That was the sound of the blade colliding with the bone sword.
A small piece of silver metal flew off from the point of collision.
That was the sound of the Crescent Blade being notched by He Ao’s bone sword.
Balan, seeing his weapon notched, was taken aback and quickly retreated.
But it was too late, He Ao’s bone sword changed trajectory mid-swing and stabbed, and even though Balan managed to dodge in time, it still pierced through his left shoulder, pushing him backward.
With a crisp sound, Balan’s whole body was pinned against the wall of the deckhouse.
He looked at He Ao, gritted his teeth, tilted his body, and violently allowed the bone sword to slice through the flesh of his shoulder, escaping He Ao’s control.
Bright red blood oozed out of his shoulder and elbow.
He opened his mouth and uttered some words incomprehensible to He Ao, seemingly a sort of curse, and then let out a fierce roar.
This roar was similar to the one he used to control the pirates, but this time, it didn’t affect those pirates who had already become somewhat insane.
Instead, it affected him.
As he roared, a faint orange glow gradually covered his skin, and then swiftly swelled his scrawny body, piling on layers of muscle.
However, this transformation was different from that of the Thug who turned directly into a muscle-bound giant, Balan’s muscles remained at a more reasonable level, making him look stronger and taller, like a robust Knight.
Then the Knight bared his teeth, gripped the Crescent Blade like a mad dog, and rushed toward He Ao.
Meanwhile, those pirates who had originally been crazily shooting at He Ao under the influence gradually began to calm down, although they had stopped firing ever since Balan had emerged.
The Crescent Blade swung out, casting a brilliance like the full moon, He Ao drew his bone sword to block the slash, retreating several steps, almost reaching the ship’s rail.
Immediately after, Balan threw caution to the winds and attacked like a torrential storm.
He Ao leaned back, flew off the deck, and landed behind Balan.
Balan, still in the midst of fierce attacks, suddenly lost momentum and nearly rolled off the deck into the sea. Fortunately, his agility was high enough that he quickly spun around and attacked He Ao again.
Balan’s strength and speed had clearly been enhanced.
But it seemed he had entirely sacrificed his rationality.
He looked just like those pirates before, turned into a madman who only knew slaughter.
Does that mean his ability could not only affect those pirates within a range but also backfire on himself?
A series of red alerts popped up in He Ao’s vision, signaling that the battery’s energy was about to be depleted.
He Ao paused for a moment, then pushed the input of all three batteries to the maximum,
and pulled the overclocking power to 150%.
Let’s end this battle.
