The rain in the sky had stopped, but the dark clouds hadn’t dispersed.

Yang De went to the captain’s cabin to answer the pirates’ "call," and the blood-stained deck had been cleaned up. The bodies of several pirates and Daybreak’s Transcendents had been sealed in Mithril coffers, awaiting further processing after the arrival of support from the Research Institute.

Not all the pirates had managed to escape; some were captured and imprisoned in the lower ship cabins. After the effect of the drugs wore off, their spirits were exceptionally disheartened.

The Speech Master then went down to the lower cabins to interrogate them.

As a result, He Ao had to take care of the little girl who had been rescued.

At first, the girl was very upset and panicked. Later, the Speech Master talked with her about something unknown, and her emotions gradually stabilized. She became somewhat silent and was nervous around everyone except for the Speech Master, and it was only when she stood by He Ao’s side that she would say a few words.

Night had fallen deeply, and it seemed the little girl hadn’t eaten anything all day, her stomach making rumbling noises alone.

He Ao decided to take her to the dining hall to find something to eat.

Down the hallway, there were Transcendents with bandages wrapped around their bodies. Although they were wounded, they had become much more harmonious with each other, no longer as estranged as before. People from all corners had united following a battle of life and death.

When He Ao passed by, they all greeted him.

Everyone was not blind to the fact that He Ao had returned with the reconnaissance team and had directly reversed the situation of the battle, even taking down a C-level; in a sense, he had saved everyone’s lives.

Thus, He Ao had invisibly established some prestige within the cruise liner.

He Ao took the little girl to the dining hall on the first floor, where only a noodle-serving window had resumed operation.

So, he had the girl sit at a seat and asked her to wait for him.

The little girl nodded and huddled in the most cornered seat close to He Ao.

He Ao glanced at her, then turned to the window and ordered a bowl of noodles.

By the time he came back with the noodles, a figure had already sat next to the little girl, making her laugh and smile.

"Guess what I found out?"

Seeing He Ao return with the noodles, the Speech Master excitedly looked toward him.

He Ao didn’t respond to her and placed the noodles in front of the little girl.

"I found out the location of the pirate mothership!"

The Speech Master had grown accustomed to He Ao not picking up on her words, "Their several motherships have been following us from a far distance. The cruise ship that Nini was on was also hijacked by them. I also found out that they are keeping the hostages from the cruise ship on the mothership, but they haven’t harmed them."

Nini was the name of the little girl.

When she heard the Speech Master mention her own cruise ship, her hand movements paused for a moment, and then she continued to eat her noodles bit by bit.

Realizing she had said the wrong thing, the Speech Master gently touched the girl’s head, then looked at He Ao and changed the subject,

"I’ve also learned something about Balan, the leader of the Free Marines.

The Republic of Alano had long been in chaos due to warlord strife.

Balan was taken as a child soldier at the age of twelve and served for three years before escaping. When he returned home, he found his parents and relatives had all died of disease. In anger, he set his entire village on fire, sided with a nearby warlord who admired his ruthlessness, and was entrusted with great responsibility.

Soon after, Balan repaid the warlord, and after five years of following him, a mature Balan eliminated the warlord and took his place.

It was said that at the time, Balan’s power was vastly inferior to that of the warlord, but Balan risked a daring move. While the warlord was at home sleeping with his mistress, Balan burst into his house, shot the warlord dead with a flurry of bullets along with his followers, and swiftly rallied the warlord’s forces to secure his position.

In the years that followed, he repeatedly used the same tactics, winning more with less, and gradually became one of the top-ranking warlords in Alano.

However, while he was dominant on land, he initially had little power at sea.

Year after year of conflict left the citizens of Alano unable to afford even food, but the nearby sea lanes were on the golden route of international trade. This meant that the warlords in Alano would all rely on piracy to some extent to make a profit.

When Balan started out, the sea powers of Alano had already been divided. Thus, he applied his old tactics of risking the small to win the big, relying on madness and recklessness, he forcefully devoured several of the larger pirate forces, soaring to become the second-ranking pirate force in Alano.

His characteristic was being ruthless and unscrupulous, daring to take risks.

Moreover,

The Speech Master suddenly leaned in close and whispered, "He has dozens of mistresses, and among those pirates we’ve captured, two or three are her mistresses’ brothers."

...

It seems that those pirates really did talk to her about everything.

He Ao turned to look out of the window, where the sky and sea merged into a silent blackness, as if a devouring abyss.

However, at the end of this abyss, there were flickering lights twinkling.

Those were other ships.

"There are more ships now," he observed.

The Speech Master also followed He Ao’s gaze, "We have been moving towards the port; are we approaching the port now?"

Then she pulled out a satellite navigator from nowhere, checked it,

"According to our current position, we are getting close to Danba Port."

She then elaborated,

"Danba Port is a small port on the easternmost side of the Nolai Republic, with relatively few ships.

Nolai was originally an exclave of the Tia Empire, but became an independent Republic decades ago. Even so, it is still basically considered a vassal state to the Tia Empire, heavily reliant on it politically and economically.

Despite this, it is an independent Republic with its own navy. We have now entered the territorial waters of the Nolai Republic, and although it is still far from Central Earth, we can consider ourselves safe. Theoretically, we should not encounter any..."

"Want some noodles?"

He Ao suddenly asked.

"Huh?" The Speech Master was confused, not catching up with why He Ao suddenly started talking to her. She shook her head, "No thanks, I’m not hungry."

At that moment, a series of hurried footsteps came from outside the dining room.

He Ao turned around just in time to see Ye Feng quickly enter the dining room.

Ye Feng glanced around the dining room, his gaze first settling on Nini, then on He Ao.

Then he quickly approached, looking at He Ao, "Captain, Brother Yang is looking for you,"

Then he looked at Nini, "and this little sister... together."

By now, Nini had put down her chopsticks and was sitting there daydreaming. At the sound of Ye Feng’s call, she looked up, bewildered.

"Alright."

He Ao nodded lightly, reached out to take Nini’s hand, and sighed as he looked at the Speech Master.

Speech Master: ?

Watching He Ao’s departing figure, the Speech Master helplessly scratched her head.

She cleared away the bowl from which Nini had eaten noodles.

Then she went and got herself a bowl of noodles, silently tucking into her meal.
