Chapter 228: Chapter 228: The Blazing Sun (Please Subscribe, Add to Favorites, Request Monthly Tickets)

The heavy bread van blasted dynamic music, and the driver, wearing a circus mask, swayed his body to the rhythm.

Sirens wailed behind them, but obviously, they could not catch up; the distance was growing ever wider.

Soon, they had completely shaken off the police sirens.

The driver, excited, swung the steering wheel and turned into a dark alley.

Then he stomped on the brakes, coming to a stop in the alley.

He stuck his head out the window, looking around.

"Damn it, where’s the contact person?"

"Right here."

A hoarse voice came from behind him, followed by the cold metal pressing against the back of his head.

Bang—

Bright red blood spattered on the old steering wheel and clear windshield.

The man with the chubby baby mask reached out, opened the car door, kicked the driver out, and started the vehicle.

He glanced behind him where several bodies lay helter-skelter in the van.

The smiling clown mask from the circus fell into a pool of blood.

The man withdrew his gaze, picked up the towel that had fallen under the windshield, and wiped clean the blood on the glass, the main control screen, and the steering wheel before pulling the door shut.

His foot rested on the gas pedal, ready to start the vehicle.

Just then, a silvery-gray light descended from the sky, hovering in front of his van.

It was a humanoid mecha about two meters tall, with silvery-gray and dark brown as its primary colors.

The mecha floated in the air, looked down at the masked man, then switched off its jet engine and landed squarely in front of the van.

He waved his hand, signaling the masked man to get out of the vehicle.

The masked man gave the mecha a look, pulled the gear to the max, and in an instant, floored the accelerator.

The van’s electric motor roared to life, and the vehicle suddenly slammed into the humanoid mecha.

Humanoid machines tend to be very unstable, often falling at a single hit, and for safety, they usually dodge.

However, the mecha opposite did not evade but squatted down and swiftly extended its hand.

The protruding front of the bread van crashed into the mecha’s squatting lower body.

Cacophonous sounds of collision, bending steel bones, and tearing metal casings rose in this split second like a thunderous symphony.

Twisted electric arcs lit up the dark alley, enabling the man in the driver’s seat to get a clear view of the mecha.

With its arms open wide, the mecha was silver and black, spreading a majestic and terrifying pressure, like a demon that had descended to earth.

Bang—

The silver-gray iron fist smashed the van’s window, reached in to grab the masked man by the collar, and with a strong pull, began to yank the masked man out of the vehicle.

In that instant, the masked man fiercely grabbed onto the van’s A-pillar, exerted strength to one side, and tore off half of his own collar, somersaulting out through the broken windshield.

The mecha, in a smooth transition, clenched its five fingers, transforming claw to fist, and punched towards the masked man flying through the air.

With no other choice, the masked man forcefully took the hit, slammed against the wall beside him, crashed through it, and rolled inside.

All of these events transpired in the blink of an eye.

He Ao slightly furrowed his brow and retreated swiftly; this masked man did not have the distinct lip wound that the one on the talk show had.

The out-of-control bread van raced forward and crashed into another wall.

In the midst of this violent collision, He Ao gathered his thoughts and turned his attention to the wall which the masked man had punched a big hole through.

It seemed that the space behind the wall had been abandoned, looking deep and shrouded in darkness, void of any human shadow.

The small grass growing in the crevices of the road swung gently.

The wind

He Ao watched the dark hall intently.

His infrared night-vision device revealed the hall’s interior to him, and he lightly lifted his leg, suddenly shifting to the side.

A massive fist violently burst through the cracked wall, crossing where he had just stood and shattering the wall behind him.

He Ao looked at the small giant before him, his body bulging with muscles.

He felt a sense of déjà vu in this scene.

He had once seen this same appearance on another person.

Mu Xiu.

Mu Xiu was also a Priest of the God of Chaos, and his Talent Sequence should be the D-rank "Thug".

The enormous giant, now unmasked, had his appearance distorted by the muscles piled up on his cheeks. He swung his fist, coming at He Ao with a punch.

He Ao vaguely remembered the horror and the pressure he felt the last time he faced such a massive giant.

In the end, he could only rely on external forces and talent to achieve mutual destruction with his opponent.

Yet humans always grow.

Super Memory, activate!

While the artificial intelligence Eve was still struggling to analyze the brute giant’s skills and physical condition, He Ao had already simulated the opponent’s trajectory.

In an instant, he pushed the power system of the mecha to the maximum that the energy source could bear.

Then he dashed aside, avoiding the incoming punch, and with his fingers together, he fired a micro-laser cannon at the opponent’s left shoulder, striking the black and red flesh.

A puff of smoke rose, and a wound was burned into the giant’s body, but his actions were not impacted in the slightest.

The giant before him was even stronger than Mu Xiu back then.

He Ao once again dodged the giant’s strike.

The massive fist smashed into the ground, fracturing it with countless cracks.

The alley was secluded, empty of people, but the ground was made of quite thick cement and stones.

He Ao hovered in the air, retreating by tens of meters.

The Adam model 1 mecha was made with lightness in mind, and as such, made considerable sacrifices in strength.

Although it utilized high-strength new materials and adopted multiple force-dissipation structures designed by Vian, it couldn’t quite compare to the thickness of armor plating that large mechas could accumulate.

This meant the mecha itself couldn’t withstand overly powerful attacks.

High offensive power, high agility, but fragile.

He Ao flashed past the giant’s multiple attacks, continually increasing the distance between them.

Hovering in the air, he employed a kite-flying tactic, gradually adding wounds to the giant’s body.

It seemed the giant realized this strategy would be futile, so he stepped back twice and his already enormous frame swelled even further.

His visage grew even more ferocious at the same time.

"Ahhhh!!!"

He spread his arms wide, letting out a roar that impacted He Ao’s ears, momentarily disturbing his thoughts.

Immediately after, the giant stomped on the ground, launching himself like a cannonball. His huge palms extended fiercely, reaching for He Ao, intending to crush him.

He Ao watched the giant, who pounced at him with a speed he could barely dodge, and stacked his hands together.

Mental Disturbance!

The onrushing giant was momentarily confused and lost his ability to think.

Simultaneously, the last spare battery mounted on He Ao’s left shoulder vibrated slightly. A small port opened on the armor of his left shoulder, linking the battery into the mecha’s power system.

In an instant, the immense energy from both batteries converged within the mecha.

A red warning window appeared in He Ao’s vision.

This indicated that the immense energy input was exceeding the limits that the mecha could bear.

101%...103%...105%...

Eventually, the readout of power output on the monitor stabilized at 110% of the safe power output.

Scorching flames gathered in He Ao’s palms, their shining brilliance illuminating all shadows in a flash.

The surging heat waves caused the air to undulate as if it were water.

As if the magnificent Heaven itself had descended upon the earth.
