Chapter 1368: Chapter 1368: What Are You Looking For? (Extra Long Chapter, Asking for Monthly Tickets)
The firmament is like shattered glass, pieces hanging in the sky, casting light upon the land riddled with cracks.
He Ao crouched between these deep fissures, quickly flipping one stone after another, scattered with brilliant flashes of thunder.
Just as he lifted a large rock, an electric light suddenly shot out from beneath it, like a flickering spear, heading straight for He Ao’s body.
"Don’t go!!!"
A hoarse howl echoed between heaven and earth, accompanied by the dazzling electric light, reverberating in He Ao’s ears.
But finally, that electric light halted before He Ao, the flickering thunder blew a wind carrying arcs, brushing through He Ao’s purple gleaming hair.
He Ao gazed at the electric light before him, slowly reached out his hand into the light, grasped the wrist of that vague silhouette within it, and softly said, "Director, it’s me."
At the moment of being seized, the electric light rapidly receded, revealing the twisted Thunder silhouette within, losing its human form.
The Thunder silhouette instinctively struggled for a moment, then something seemed to dawn on it, the flickering electric light fluctuated brightly, and ultimately did not attempt to continue struggling against He Ao’s grasp.
He Ao gazed at the Thunder figure before him, paused for a second, a faint purple brilliance overflowed from his hand, soaking into the Thunder figure’s body and soul.
In an instant, this purple brilliance completely covered the Thunder figure’s body.
The Thunder figure trembled slightly but did not resist, allowing the purple brilliance to swiftly navigate through its body.
Soon, streams of twisted, frenzied purple light began to seep out from the thunder-constructed body, enveloped and devoured by the outer purple brilliance.
This was the power the Fate Spinning Wheel once had over the Thunder silhouette.
He Ao could restore modified memories by understanding and recognizing the Thunder silhouette, but to completely erase the interference of the Fate Spinning Wheel’s power on all cognition and memory, he could only use his own strength to assimilate and extract.
And as more and more purple brilliance was extracted from the Thunder figure, the distortions and mutations on the Thunder figure’s body slowly squirmed, being gradually extracted back into the Thunder body.
Soon, the thunder’s brilliance began to slowly converge into the Thunder figure’s body, with the mutated body reverting bit by bit to a human form.
Finally, the pervasive electric light wholly converged, completely retracting into the Thunder figure’s body, revealing a flesh-and-blood blurred silhouette.
Blood mixed with subtle electric light filled this figure’s body.
His eyes were covered by white blood, and the pupils appeared as a blurry mix of white and red.
He Ao silently gazed at the figure before him.
The other’s eyes had no luster, the expression on his face was vague, as if distant emotions and consciousness had been long extracted and erased.
Even regaining the lost memories, the distortions and mutations left by madness still existed.
But seeing the figure maintain a human form, He Ao let out a long sigh of relief.
Maintaining humanity means reason still exists.
’Hao Yi’s silhouette appeared beside him, he raised his hand, handing over two white fruits.
He Ao immediately took the fruits and stuffed them into the mouth of the figure before him.
The dense fruit transformed into a pervasive white light, instantly flooding into the Thunder figure’s body.
That blood-stained body trembled slightly, the entire body showed no changes, and the torn flesh of the wounds still remained.
He Ao quietly watched that blood-stained body, not letting go.
No one knows how much time had passed when those eyes filled with white and red blood seemed to tremble slightly, and a vague brilliance appeared to shimmer within those eyes.
The figure looked at He Ao before him, paused slightly, then turned his gaze left and right, seemingly confirming the identity of the silhouette before him.
"Director, it’s me," He Ao repeated slowly.
This time, upon hearing He Ao’s voice, the flesh-and-blood silhouette trembled and reached out, lightly grasping He Ao’s arm.
He opened his mouth, as if preparing to say something, and at that instant, his figure trembled, his entire body appeared as if all strength was drained, suddenly leaning forward, falling to the ground.
He Ao quickly caught him, protecting his body.
A stone bed instantly rose from the earth, standing beneath the figure.
He Ao gently released, letting the figure lie on the stone bed.
Then he turned his head, glancing at his arm, the blood-and-flesh hand still clutched his blood-stained arm.
He turned back, looking into the blood-and-flesh eyes of the figure, looking at the slightly open mouth, and softly said, "Director, the ritual has ended, we succeeded."
But as his words finished, the figure did not close his mouth.
"You..." a hoarse sound tore out from the blood-and-flesh throat, the white-blood stained hand gently holding He Ao’s wounded arm, "Injured..."
Upon hearing this inquiry, He Ao was slightly taken aback, then slowly opened his mouth, "I’m fine, Director."
The figure, a mass of blurred flesh, paused slightly, then his already obscured eyes widened, seemingly trying to take a good look at He Ao’s state, "Alive... Headquarters... down..."
His hoarse mouth opened, the words not yet fully spoken, and then his entire body completely lost strength, his arm dropped, hanging at the side.
He Ao paused slightly, gently placing the fallen arm upon the stone bed.
He looked at the figure before him, a faint electric light fluctuating amidst the blurred flesh of the figure in front of him.
The figure had not died, but due to severe injuries, had fallen into some sort of protective ’slumber’.
Judging by its performance, the state of consciousness seemed stable enough.
He Ao exhaled a long breath, then he raised his head, glancing at the shattered sky above.
——
Above the ruins, a massive black void filled the entire sky, twisted and tearing glimmers spread across the edges of the sky.
Under the trembling force, the earth lifted ’waves’ stretching kilometers high, with silt and rubble rolling violently like water waves.
The high towers that had never collapsed over countless ages shattered as easily as pancakes, turning into torrents mixed with the silt, merging with that fierce ’wave’.
Weak rays of light spread out from the edge of the earth, attempting to stabilize the fragmented ground.
But in mere moments, these rays, together with the land, completely shattered.
The great power high within the heavens, merely a brief intersection, had ripped the world to the brink of destruction.
Letting the eternal end manifest at the world’s edge.
And at the very center of this twisted cosmic phenomena, within that all-consuming black void, a gigantic starlight silhouette slowly emerged.
The starlight silhouette had already lost its left arm, and as soon as it emerged from around the black void, it charged unhesitatingly towards a side of cosmic space.
Its body instantly streaked across the sky, through the fierce transcendent storm, past the distorted atmospheric glow at the sky’s edge, rushing into the depths of the black vastness.
Soon, its body moved away from the edge of the black void.
It turned its head, looking back at the black hole behind, with nothing pursuing.
It accelerated forward for a while, then turned its head back again, finding nothing following.
As it continued forward, the light and shadow almost vanished into the black vastness, it looked back again.
There was still nothing following behind.
This time, its figure flickered, it looked back, shaking its remaining arm.
Every speck of starlight on its body seemed to leap at that moment, dancing a joyful dance.
Then, it suddenly realized something, violently turning back to look behind.
There was still nothing.
Its figure flickered, shaking its head.
Then it raised a hand, slicing open the void beside it, tearing open a space rift in the void.
Almost instantly as the rift tore open, it swiftly stepped one foot inside.
At the same time, it raised its head to look within the rift, about to squeeze its entire body into the rift.
Yet in this instant, its form suddenly froze.
It raised its head, looking into the depths of the torn void.
A grey-white eye stood there, quietly gazing at it.
Simultaneously, in the black void devoid of light, small points of light gradually lit up, one after another grey-white eyes emerged from the blackness, gazing at the starlight silhouette before them.
Looking at those grey-white eyes, the starlight silhouette glanced at the already extended foot, slowly pulling back, retracting the half of its body already inside the rift.
Those grey-white eyes just quietly gazed at it.
Then, the rift that had been torn open suddenly opened like a giant mouth and pushed forward, instantly overtaking and swallowing the starlight silhouette within.
Subsequently, the opened rift began rapidly closing, intending to encapsulate the starlight silhouette completely.
Yet at that moment, an invisible mechanical giant hand stretched out from the void, suddenly grabbing the closing rift, preventing it from closing.
The starlight silhouette, seeing this scene, without hesitation, immediately burst out towards the rift’s exit.
In that instant, countless grey-white eyes raised their gaze, looking at its body, also towards the invisible giant hand outside the rift.
Boom——
Accompanied by the starlight silhouette moving outward, a crisp sound resonated from the depths of the world.
The starlight silhouette’s body rapidly diminished, everything that constituted his being also showed a tendency to disperse.
And beyond the crack, the invisible giant hand that was forcefully tearing it open seemed to have been erased slightly, dimming at that moment.
Bang——
A sound echoed urgently in the void.
Like urgent, undulating footsteps, closely following behind the starlight silhouette.
The starlight silhouette lifted his head, looking toward the void on both sides, where countless gray-white eyes seemed to fill the dim void completely.
The eyes loomed in the dim night, gazing at the frantically escaping starlight silhouette, watching his panic and despair.
Bang——
Bang——
Crisp sounds continued echoing in the depths of the void, the intervals between them growing ever shorter.
Accompanied by these sounds, the starlight silhouette’s body gradually grew ’loose’.
His body, his soul, his power, all shook violently like oversized garments with his movements.
But at this moment, he could not care about those; he lifted his head, looking at the crack not far ahead, accelerating once more.
The invisible mechanical giant hand holding the crack open had visibly grown much more illusory, and the crack had closed significantly.
Yet the crack remained wide enough for him to rush through.
Bang——
The sound resounded once more at the very bottom of the world.
At this instant, the starlight silhouette felt his body lightened, his speed increased significantly, almost there.
But he failed to notice his body, at some unknown moment, like a shedding snake, had shed a layer of skin, drifting backward, sinking into the depths of space.
Bang——
Bang——
Bang——
Echoing sounds reverberated in this illusory world, like ancient death knells tolling a sound of demise.
However, at this moment the starlight silhouette grew increasingly exhilarated because his body grew lighter and his speed increased; he was about to reach the crack.
The layers of shed bodies, like drifting clothes, linked one after another into a massive chain.
And just as the starlight silhouette reached the crack, his body suddenly stiffened as if grabbed by some power.
Behind him, the drawn-out body ’chain’ had reached its limit at this point.
His body flickered, clenched his teeth, and pushed forward.
He felt as though the chain behind pulled on his soul, his body, the most important part of him, though now he couldn’t recall what that important part was.
If he couldn’t recall, maybe it wasn’t important.
He lowered his head, continued forward.
Gleaming gray glory was slowly extracted from his body, dragged by the ’chain’ constructed of starlight.
Bang——
Familiar sounds rang again in the void, this time, the starlight silhouette felt his movements forward greatly hastened as his body lightened once more.
He started to appreciate this sound.
He lifted his head, looking at the crack ahead, and lunged forward.
He was very close to the crack.
The brilliant gray glory was also swiftly extracted from his body.
It was at this moment that the invisible giant hand ripped forward, grabbing the starlight silhouette, and yanked him back violently.
Gray-white eyes suddenly appeared in the void.
The chain built of starlight instantly tightened, holding the starlight silhouette.
As the invisible giant hand touched the starlight silhouette, he was momentarily stunned.
At that instant, he finally ’realized’ what had just happened.
Truth had used his hand to tear his power apart.
He had just ’drained’ his own blood, then ’cut’ off his flesh, offering it to the Truth.
He wanted to advance, but he could genuinely feel the massive force pulling him from behind.
Without the tearing of the invisible giant hand, the mighty crack rapidly started to close.
In this instant, he made a decision.
Bang——
The resistance from the gray glory that had been pulled from his body vanished entirely; in the blink of an eye, the gray glory was completely extracted.
And simultaneously, the starlight silhouette’s remaining feeble body separated from that gray glory, yanked by the invisible giant hand out of the closing crack.
Instantly, the invisible giant hand crumbled and disappeared, the insignificant starlight silhouette plummeted toward a nearly rent-asunder planet, smashing into it in mere moments.
And at this time, the pitch-black void in the sky slowly vanished, leaving only a massive semi-transparent gray-white eye standing there, seemingly depleted of strength.
The gray-white eye shifted slowly, glancing towards the corner of deep space where He Ao had just appeared.
Then, it completely dissipated.
——
The starlight silhouette struggled to rise from the ground, taking a glance at his own arm.
Compared to his previous enormous and majestic body, now only the small form of a human’s size remained.
His once-proud Talent Sequences of the Tuning Master had been completely extracted by the Truth, leaving only the Angel Tier power.
At least, at least he survived.
He looked up at the massive gray-white eye in the sky, watching as it completely disappeared.
This is fine too, with no power retained he now had the possibility to change pathways, no longer pursued by the crazy Truth.
Even if he would in the future be influenced by machinery, it was better than being chased by Truth incessantly.
Now, he could function normally.
He glanced at the shattered land around him.
Finally, he could leave this godforsaken place.
Also, that kid...
His figure shuddered slightly.
He hoped this guy wouldn’t die too soon; once he reclaimed the power of the Usurper God, he would let the other know the meaning of a fate worse than death.
If Truth hadn’t intervened horizontally, that kid’s power wouldn’t have been worth his notice.
No, once he healed, he’d return to utterly kill that kid.
And everything that kid guarded, he’d kill it all.
In front of that kid, he’d destroy the things he cared about bit by bit, shatter his reason and consciousness, plunge him into complete madness.
The starlight silhouette flickered, his eyes scanned the surroundings.
He remembered leaving an item here that could quickly heal wounds.
According to the agreement, the machinery would descend with power, opening a passage for him to leave; once he got the item, he could leave with the machinery to properly recuperate.
He scrutinized the area thoughtfully.
The machinery guy was a bit slow; why was the passage still unseen?
Damn Truth, ruined the surroundings.
Blame that kid, sooner or later he would kill him.
Yet, he could finally leave here.
The machinery had it all prepared, promotion wasn’t out of reach, soon he’d regain new power.
The future was still his.
As he lowered his gaze carefully observing his surroundings,
a soft, gentle inquiry quietly rose behind him:
"What are you looking for?"
