Chapter 1115: Chapter 1115: At the Core of Ains (Large Chapter for Monthly Tickets)
[Age 23: The headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation is an old-fashioned square building known as the Moken Building. Moken, the founder and first director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, established this building during the fifth century of the Federation, naming it after its founder.]In your first year working at the headquarters of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, you spent most of your time in training and internships. Most new members of the Federal Bureau of Investigation would undergo pre-employment training in Ains, where you met many new friends in that huge training building and were first exposed to mysticism.
You were assigned to the Violent Crimes Unit of the Criminal Investigation Bureau, where you met that veteran detective again. He used to be the executive assistant director of the Violent Crimes Unit and now works in the office of the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s staff.
He told you that the Violent Crimes Unit is one of the most important divisions in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, where you could deal with numerous cases involving Evil God cultists and have opportunities for fieldwork assignments.]
[Age 24: You began to get a grip on your work at the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and along with the detective mentoring you, started investigating a sacrificial case involving cultists of the God of Chaos.]
[Age 25: You cracked a major sacrifice case of the God of Chaos cult and successfully located a D-class Priest of Chaos. Your superior killed him during the battle.
For the merits achieved in this case, you received Secret Medicine of Talent Sequences 6: Hermit, became a Transcendent, and were promoted to a Senior Investigator with the authority to lead external investigation teams.]
[Age 26: You led your team to Seine City, following up on the case, and together with the local Federal Bureau of Investigation members, cracked down on a sacrificial case involving a witch sect.]
[Age 27: You went to Vitland and with the help of the local Federal Bureau of Investigation, captured a long-fled Believer of the Eternal Light. On the way back to Ains, you brought along a trainee investigator named Thorin from Vitland, who would proceed to Ains for training.]
[Age 28: Due to your ongoing excellent performance, you received Secret Medicine of Talent Sequences 25: Conciliator, were promoted to rank E, and became an Assistant Inspector of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
You returned to Limen City and as an Assistant Inspector, applied to access the records of the trade caravan your mother protected. You discovered that the caravan guarded by your mother was en route from Limen City to Konovi City. Limen is southeast of Ains, while Konovi is southwest. The journey would only pass near one major city of Ains.
The dossier mentioned that the caravan was suspected to have been attacked by Wilderness Wanderers, and all goods and people were taken, leaving no survivors.
However, your work experience tells you that even in robbery, most Wilderness Wanderers would not abduct all the members of a caravan, as that would consume their supplies and increase the chances of exotic beast attacks. They would only capture a few key figures and then demand ransom.
This case file had no follow-up; the Federal Bureau of Investigation did not find the ’Wilderness Wanderers’ who committed the crime at that time, nor was there any news of your father in this dossier.]
[Age 29: You undertook a mission from the Federal Bureau of Investigation, found a nest of the Church of Chaos cult operating in the southeast of the Federation, and joined forces with nearby cities’ Federal Bureau of Investigation offices to eliminate the nest.
During this operation, you met a ’new friend’ who worked in the Dawn City Federal Bureau of Investigation office. His name was Smith, an E-rank Transcendent, and Senior Investigator. You had a great conversation and exchanged contact information.
After returning to Ains, that veteran detective found you again. He had become the deputy chief of staff of the staff office, encouraged you, and informed you that you were now officially on the promotion track for inspectors at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.]
[Age 30: You became an Inspector of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and your superior allowed you to form your own team for investigations. You recruited Thorin, whom you had brought to the Federal Bureau of Investigation, into your team.
After hearing the news of your promotion, Smith seemed to be quite impacted, and he expressed that he would definitely surpass you.]
[Age 31: Passing through Dawn City, you met Smith again, his hair increasingly thin. Your team had become the most famous team in the Federal Bureau of Investigation’s Violent Crimes Unit.
That year, you eradicated a small Cult sect in the western part of the Federation that worshipped the ’Emperor of the Starry Sky.’ On the way back to Ains, you passed through Kaye City and heard that the head of the Nolanka Group had suffered an assassination attempt. However, this was not within your jurisdiction as the local Federal Bureau of Investigation had already initiated an investigation.
The Nolanka Group invited you to the funeral, where you briefly glanced at the young ’successor’ and left Kaye City.]
[At age 32: You were promoted to Talent Sequences 52: Arbiter, and the nominee for Executive Assistant Director of the Intelligence Division proposed you for the role of Assistant Director of the Violent Crime Division. You were poised to become the youngest Assistant Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation in nearly fifty years, and your team members each received their own promotions.]
[However, you declined this ’benefactor’s’ kindness, as you hoped to attain greater freedom rather than sitting in Ains’s boss chair.]
[The old detective, now the chief of staff, sought you out and communicated with you throughout the night.]
[You entered the staff office, becoming a consultant responsible for the direction of Evil God’s followers, and you became the youngest consultant in nearly a century at the Federal Bureau of Investigation.]
[With the support of the old detective, you gained a high degree of freedom and could investigate events related to the Evil God throughout the Federation with a consultant’s authority. Nevertheless, you were required to return to Ains each quarter to report your investigative findings on cultist activities to the chief of staff and the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.]
[At age 33: You hadn’t yet left Ains when you received various ’invitations to gatherings,’ each bearing different emblems. Some were from descendants of the founders of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, others were from glorious major financial groups.]
[People were concerned about your marital status as well as your career. The gentlemen standing amidst fine wines and bright lights offered you olive branches.]
[You visited the old detective and accepted some ’unavoidable’ invitations while politely declining most of them. By the end of spring, you left Ains.]
[You found the wilderness where your mother had disappeared years ago and asked the surrounding Wanderers about the incident. Some elderly had heard of the tragedy but knew no further details.]
[You located the nearby most secretive ’Andavi family,’ but they too were unaware of the past events; nobody knew who committed the act back then. People believed that the nearby Wilderness Wanderers would not engage in such deeds, and it must have been the work of Evil God followers.]
[But no one knew of any Evil God followers in the vicinity.]
[At age 34: Your maternal grandparents passed away one after another, and you returned to Limen City to attend their funerals.]
[You traveled throughout the southeastern Federation, investigating possible Evil God information, and you met Smith again, who had even less hair than before.]
[During a debriefing, you met the director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, a formidable elder who exuded an almost mountainous and oceanic presence. However, he was quite amiable, listened to your detailed discussions, and commended your work.]
[At age 35: You visited many cities of the Federation, met many people, and also encountered many situations where you were powerless to help.]
[At age 36: Passing through Yilan City, during the election year, you listened to the elegantly spoken candidate named Linen. His many ideas were very inspiring. Unfortunately, even though he was no novice to the political arena, his campaign ads were still pitifully few, and not many in Yilan City knew him or had heard him speak.]
[At the end of the year, on your way back to Ains to report, you received a special yellow invitation. This invitation only had a location and time, along with a brief message, ’Do you yearn for Order?’]
[You sensed something amiss, but still went to the location.]
[The host did not reveal his purpose but simply engaged in discussions with others about the meaning of Order.]
[You realized that this might be an Evil God followers’ gathering, but you didn’t act rashly and instead prepared to gather more information to apprehend them all at once.]
[However, some perspectives within the entire gathering were commendable, such as maintaining Order, reducing killings, and taking strong actions against violent crime and all forms of chaos.]
[At age 37: You investigated a case involving the Church of Knowledge, returning to the vicinity of Dawn City. The Church of Knowledge is one of the less active churches within the Federation. They usually do not kill without reason, but they are also among the most fanatical, willing to do anything to obtain knowledge and truth.]
When you were crossing the wilderness, you encountered an ambush suspected to be from the Church of Chaos, and by the time you escaped, you were severely injured and on the brink of death.
A Wanderer Camp rescued you, and although you had no fondness for these Wilderness Wanderers, they did not harm you and helped you recover from your injuries.
You met the Leader of the camp, a C-ranked powerhouse. You could tell that he was injured, yet he was strenuously maintaining this prosperous camp.
His son was a young lad named Ronald, with whom you shared some experiences from the northern borders of the Federation.
You stayed in the camp for over a month and they escorted you back to Dawn City. In return, you contacted some friends in Dawn City capable of helping them establish a fur trade route.
You found Smith, who had been promoted to D-rank.
You took people back to the ambush site, but nothing was left there.
Because of your injuries, you did not return to report for duty that year.
[38 years old: You received a letter from Ains, from an ancient family named the Julia Family. A young girl in their family hoped to join the Dawn City Federal Bureau of Investigation and sought your help.
You had attended a gathering of the Julia Family, known for their beauty amongst the ancient families of Ains.
After some thought, you handed the information of the young girl over to Smith.
In the summer, you found the traces of the Church of Chaos that had attacked you and followed the leads to their nest.
You raided this nest and exterminated all the Chaotic Believers. Only a few who were scattered outside fortunately escaped. You organized the information and put them all on the wanted list.
This included a young Believer named Mu Xiu.]
[39 years old: After returning to Ains, you received another invitation from the ’Order Gathering.’ You attended their meeting and spoke there.
Soon after, you received a third invitation. This time, the host confided in you that they worship a Divine Being known as the ’God of Order’ and that they had no conflict with the Federation government but were eager to absorb outstanding individuals from it.
They believed, like the government, that Order was important and were willing to maintain it.
This time, he invited you to join them and introduced you to various bureaucrats from the Federation, all of whom were Believers of Order.
You neither agreed nor refused.]
[40 years old: The Order Church offered you the secret formula of Talent Sequence 105: Distributor. Due to merit accumulation, you entered the reserve list for the position of Deputy Chief of Staff, becoming the youngest among all candidates.]
[41 years old: The Order Church clarified their stance to you: they did not need you to do anything special. They believed that by carrying on with your usual methods, you were already maintaining Order.
While you did not agree with many of their views, you also thought that maintaining Order was proper.]
[42 years old: You became one of the three Deputy Chiefs of Staff of the Federal Bureau of Investigation. The old detective was about to retire, and on the day the list was published, he had a long talk with you, expressing his hope that you would continue to strive to take over his position.
At the same time, he thought it was time for you to find a wife.
You met again with the Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, who was very satisfied with your performance and indicated that you should form a team to continue investigating the situation throughout the Federation.
You were no longer the young man you once were, and you clearly understood what the Director wanted.
With the merits you had earned, you exchanged for Transcendent materials and advanced to C-rank.]
[43 years old: You went to Wint City in the northwest of the Federation and saw those ragged people in the Storm Sea. The Federal Bureau of Investigation had often become almost nominal.
That year, you wandered in the northwest, reached Vitland, delved deep into the Scavengers, and established a friendship with them.
There, you also met an unreasonable junior who argued fiercely with you and almost escalated into a fight. His name was Gast, one of the inspectors dispatched to Vitland for an investigation mission from Ains.
He believed that the interior of the Federal Bureau of Investigation had become extremely corrupt, and maintaining the status quo was meaningless.
You had a fight, and he ended up getting punched into a wall by you.]
[44 years old: You gained the recognition of the Order Church and became a core member of the Church. You did not know how this all happened, but it seemed to have just occurred.
The old detective told you that the Director was very satisfied with you and hoped you would keep up the good work.]
[45 years old: You returned to Limen City once again, and the city seemed to have undergone changes, its atmosphere filled with despair. You saw someone trying to engage in organ trading, stopped them, and had the local Federal Bureau of Investigation look into it.
Shortly after you left Limen City, you received the investigation results that everything had been dealt with completely, which seemed both credible and doubtful.
There was a vacancy for the Chief of the Limen City Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Director approached you for your opinion; you recommended Thorin.
Thorin had wanted to leave Ains for a long time and had told you more than once.
By the end of the year, Thorin assumed the position of Chief of the Limen City Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation.]
[46 years old: There was a vacancy for the Chief of the Wint City Branch of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and the Director once again sought your opinion. Wint City was a large city, with many eyes watching. Before you went to see the Director, you received many letters.
You recommended Gast.
The two people you had recommended both became Branch Chiefs, making you the hottest person in the Federal Bureau of Investigation, yet you always felt that something was amiss.
You went to Dawn City, reunited with Smith, and investigated an incident of an Evil God’s Advent in the city.
You watched a speech given by ’K’.]
