Chapter 37: Round two

Kieran laughed maniacally as the knowledge required for sword intent entered his mind.

Ultimately, while the knowledge was deep and profound, it was very abstract and if he didn’t possess sword aura already, he would assume the knowledge to be mostly philosophical more so than anything.

Putting those thoughts away Kieran decided to activate his new skill.

*WHOOM*

With a large wave of wind being pushed in all directions, a nearly formless aura washed over his entire body giving him an unfathomable aura.

The entire battlefield came to a standstill as his aura washed over everyone. Suddenly the beasts that were mindlessly throwing themselves to their death at him started running in all directions away from him.

Kieran frowned. He hadn’t thought these mindless beasts would feel fear from the aura.

Kieran decided not to chase the beasts down and simply stood there for a brief moment in silence, sad about the sudden loss of his point farm.

...

...

...

Elsewhere a group of masked women dressed in unassuming dark robes suddenly paused. They had been separate from the main assault team and were only a reserve force to prevent any hiccups from occurring.

This didn’t mean they were weak however, they were in fact just as strong as the leader of the main assault team. They had to be if they were insurance.

"You feel that, Lana?"

"Yeah, I do..." The woman named Lana frowned deeply behind her mask.

"I think we need to pull back. If that’s what I think it is, everyone here is fucked." A third girl said.

"Send the signal to retreat. I’m not fucking with a hidden Sword Saint."

"Wait." Lana spoke up.

"Let’s go check it out first. At a minimum I would like to gather some information first so we can come back more prepared. Also, don’t you want to see what a Sword Saint looks like in person? Even if they’re an enemy, just seeing them in person would broaden our horizons."

The other women hesitated but eventually agreed and moved toward where the sudden commotion had come from.

...

...

...

By this point Kieran finally realized how far he had put himself into enemy territory. He could barely see the sect behind him, and the girls who had been beside him had long since broken off. Kieran vaguely recalled them calling out to him but he had been so wrapped up in gaining points he had ignored them.

Soon, before Kieran could finish his self pity session about losing his point farm, something strange suddenly happened.

Off in the distance, more beasts were pushing through the fleeing ones without a care in the world for the intimidating aura flowing off of Kieran.

As they closed the distance, they slaughtered and trampled the lesser beasts who had been running away.

Kieran smirked, his newfound strength giving him the courage of a drunken sailor.

"Round two, eh? Hope y’all are ready to become a stepping stone for me to get stronger!"

Kieran laughed and met the challenge head on, testing his sword aura out in advance.

Coating his blade with the formless Sword Aura according to the profound knowledge he had gained from acquiring the skill, Kieran’s profound mystique and aura suddenly skyrocketed.

His intimidating aura before had seemed like a fast moving river, but now, it seemed like a shallow, calm pond in comparison to the raging typhoon that was flowing around his body now.

As soon as Core Formation and Nascent realm beasts neared him, Kieran casually swung his blade, not even having to activate his Matter Over Mind skill.

BOOM!

With a single sweep of his blade, Kieran destroyed an entire row of the approaching beasts. They didn’t even have time to wail in pain.

[Congratulations, you have slain a Foundation Establishment Realm beast! You have received 10,000 EP!]

[Congratulations, you have slain a Foundation Establishment Realm beast! You have received 10,000 EP!]

[Congratulations, you have slain a Foundation Establishment Realm beast! You have received 10,000 EP!]

...

[Congratulations, you have slain a Foundation Establishment Realm beast! You have received 15,000 EP!]

...

The notifications rung out continuously and Kieran couldn’t help but laugh maniacally.

As he prepared to swing his blade again, all the beasts near him froze.

Kieran too stopped moving as he felt something was very off, and it didn’t take him very long at all to discover what it was.

In the sky, a group of three women were floating and whispering to one another. Eventually one of them descended from the sky and landed close to Kieran but did not speak.

Kieran frowned as this woman was not wearing clothing of the sect, so she was likely to be an enemy cultivator.

"Who are you and why are you attacking our sect?"

Kieran was shitting bricks from the unfathomable aura the woman was emitting, but he had some confidence due to his life-saving treasures he had pulled from his lottery spins previously.

The girl furrowed her brows as she heard Kieran’s voice and continued to observe him.

Suddenly the girl moved.

Swish!

The girl reached out and snatched Kieran’s face covering he had wholly forgotten he was wearing in the first place.

As soon as she saw his face, she paused and simply stared with a dazed expression.

Kieran was more confused than anything. He was less surprised he had his face covering taken away, and more surprised that his Matter Over Mind skill did nothing to protect him.

He frowned slightly while pondering why it might have happened.

’Is she just that strong? Maybe she used a technique of some kind? No...I should have at least felt some restriction but I didn’t...This is bad."

Kieran frowned deeply realizing the gravity of the situation.

Suddenly the woman spoke.

"Come with me. We were ordered to take no prisoners, but I think we’ll be fine if you’re the exception."

Kieran was startled at such a proposition and he pondered for a moment and as he was about to reply a couple of figures suddenly descended beside him.

Looking at the new arrival, Kieran’s eyes widened.

It was Sect Master Eleanor and standing just beside her was a stunningly beautiful woman who looked very similar to the Sect Master. In fact, the only real difference between the two was that she looked younger than Ella and she possessed a dark black streak of color almost like a lightning bolt running through her silver hair.
