Volume 5 Chapter 53: The Elf Feeling

(Walson)

[Sexy Oak Tavern's 2nd Floor — Hotel Area Room]

Barella faced a full-length mirror, hands raised, letting me put on new equipment for her from behind.

"And that’s it! Is it too tight?" I adjusted the buckle and asked.

"No, it's just right," Barella looked at the all-new, deep purple-black breastplate with curious eyes. "Any new features?"

"Well, about that." I smiled, "Follow the method we used to activate the [Wing of The Wasp] before, spread your wings..."

Before I could finish, there was a cry of surprise from Barella in the room.

Two black wings unfolded in the room, and the "hard" feathers they composed of had a subtly shimmering enchanted luster, looking incredibly gorgeous.

I cleared my throat and began introducing the new equipment.

Designed based on the prototype of [Wing of The Wasp], the second version was released after incorporating Barella's practical usage opinions.

It applied Chuck's magic reactor technology that he gave me as a thank-you for the potions I gave him, pushing the speed limit of this equipment even further.

As Barella mentioned, the  [Wing of The Wasp] had a significant drawback of being not agile in turns. Therefore, this time, instead of just thin insect wings, I created wings that could be operated flexibly, allowing Barella to perform more complex flight maneuvers.

These wings used [Orichalcum Steel] as the framework, and the "feathers" were made of Minecraft's toughest building material, which is [Obsidian].

Now that I've escaped the maze and have a bit of free time for material testing, my theory seems correct - only minerals made with Minecraft's [Water] can match the hardness of Orichalcum Steel.

Although the magic storage capacity of [Obsidian] is much lower than that of [Orichalcum Steel], injecting too much magic can easily cause damage. But the advantage is that it is lighter than Orichalcum Steel, and obtaining it is relatively easier.

I also enchanted each feather on this equipment with [Lightness], making it almost weightless.

Similar to before, the design was made into a chestplate for easy wearing.

Flight equipment, [Fallen Angel], is no longer a test version; this time, it's the finished product.

"So beautiful!" Barella excitedly turned around in front of the mirror, extremely pleased. The two low-key luxurious wings opened and closed under her control.

"As long as you like it, let's go through the [Elvenisation] later. This set is your new [Elf Weapon]," I said.

Barella has always preferred beautiful clothes— well, she's the only girl in the team with normal preferences.

For this reason, this time in the design, I specially considered aesthetics. Not only did I make the chestplate with wings, but I also created other parts of the equipment for Barella.

The current Barella is dressed in deep purple-black, with a close-fitting breastplate and skirt armor that combines defense and streamlined beauty. She looks completely out of sync with the technological level of this era.

Perhaps it's because of using [Obsidian] or maybe it's because of watching too many Hollywood movies in my past life— Well, let's not dwell on that.

Perhaps you're wondering where the shiny +10 extravagant gold set that Barella originally had is. Let me explain it to you now.

Before this, I always thought that the [Elf Weapon] would not be damaged as long as the elf didn't die. However, after coming out of the Flame Labyrinth, when I checked the losses, Barella had actually lost several pieces.

There wasn't much issue with the weapons, but the original set of armor, no matter how I used the [Heart Equipment Calling], couldn't bring it back.

This kind of situation only happens after destruction— which means, although I can't remember what exactly happened in the maze, it surely wasn't something good. Barella's equipment was completely destroyed.

The initial assessment is that it was burned by some terrifying flames, and the charred Chicken Leg that comes after the activation of [Heartchickenleg Call] of Barella is solid evidence.

If it weren't for the additional information in my mind, I would have thought that our investigation into the anomaly this time was in vain. Fortunately, we did manage to resolve it.

In summary, the current set of [Fallen Angel] will be the new equipment for Barella.

"Well, it's beautiful, but why [Fallen Angel]?"

"Isn't a drunkard a fallen?" I teased.

"That’s too much! I'm not a drunkard!"

"Oh? No?" I continued to play along.

"This is too much!" Barella pouted, then suddenly her mouth lifted into a slightly mischievous smile. "How dare a mere [Villager] dare to be so arrogant towards me!"

She grabbed my collar and pushed hard!

"Hey hey hey hey hey hey!?" I fell backward and finally landed on the soft bed.

Barella approached me with a mischievous smile, and her two wings vibrated energetically.

"What are you going to do to me!?" I moved my body on the bed, gradually being covered by the shadow named Barella.

Yamette Kudasai!!— don't bully this weak [Villager]! Daddy, Mommy, come save me——!!!

Ah— but in the end, the edge of the bed sank, and Barella sat down, sneering at me.

She has enough of playing, huh, but I wonder what's so funny...

"Hey, Walson."

"Hm?"

"Um... do you think... I look good in this outfit?" Barella stood up, turned around in front of me.

"This is a design added specifically for your aesthetics." I said puzzled, "Since it's my aesthetic design, do you still need to ask me?"

"But I want to hear you say it yourself, can't I?" At her words, Barella seemed to wilt all of a sudden, looking at me with a pair of watery eyes full of grievances.

The atmosphere seemed to become somewhat indistinct.

Now I feel uncomfortable being looked at. I was a bit at a loss for a moment.

Shouldn't this kind of question be asked by a girl to the guy she likes? Why is she asking me!?

You look gorgeous, the prettiest girl I have ever seen….

...However, I couldn't bring myself to say such words.

Barella had mentioned that she liked someone, and she even specifically discussed getting a pair of engraved bracelets with me. Later, she would use them to propose to someone I didn't know...

Why do I feel so annoyed just thinking about this? Suddenly, I had an impulse to take back those bracelets. Why should I help them fulfill their wishes!? They should figure it out themselves.

"I... just hope that in your eyes, I am beautiful." Seeing that I hadn't answered, Barella turned around with a somewhat desolate expression. Then, she quickly regained her smile, "Forget it, I'll ask Grace."

"Uh, no, it's not like that!" I instinctively stopped Barella.

Then, I continued very awkwardly.

"Um— you've always been beautiful in my eyes."

Huh?

Have I had similar thoughts somewhere?

No, that's not right. What am I saying! The atmosphere has become awkward!!!!

"Your compliments are so lame." Barella turned around, and there were tears in the corners of her eyes. "But for some reason... I feel so happy listening to them."

Hey hey hey! Don't cry!

"Don't cry— that strange feeling is coming again, and then I—"

"I’ll be tackled again, right?" Barella laughed.

"..." I didn't speak, but my ears started to heat up.

Um, this is so embarrassing to think about. What was I doing when I just woke up— First, I removed all the doors in the corridor, scared Gust who was in the OGC, and finally— directly rushed towards the just awakened Barella and hugged her.

I was completely trapped in an uncontrollable emotion, just like... waking up from an extremely terrifying nightmare and finding that the world is still beautiful, multiplied by tens of times! This is the most accurate description I can think of.

"Sorry." I squeezed out these two words, staring at the floor, unable to meet her eyes.

"Actually, I don't mind." Barella said.

"Huh?" I raised my head.

"Don't make me say it a second time; it's too embarrassing." Barella turned around, about to open the door, "I'm leaving!"

Wait a minute!

Again, instinctively and impulsively, I stopped her and said very small-mindedly—

"The pair of bracelets I gave you before, can you give them back to me?"

"..." Barella stopped, without turning around.

"That, that's not a change of heart, but I just..."

I really couldn't accept the idea of Barella using the bracelets I gave her to get married to someone else. Why— Why do I...

"..." She still didn't turn around.

"I, I can exchange them for something else for you! But— I, um..." However, sensing that the atmosphere was becoming awkward and strange again, I started to speak incoherently.

What am I even saying!

"..." She turned around, but still didn't look at me. She was trembling all over, as if suppressing something.

"Sorry, I seem to—"

"Don't speak, you jinx." She stared at the floor, suddenly walked quickly over, roughly grabbed my left hand, forcefully clasped something onto my wrist.

It wasn't anything else, it was the bracelet I had given her, now only one.

Throughout the entire process, she kept her head down, and I couldn't see her face, but I noticed that her elf ears were blushing.

Then, she quickly brought her face close to my ear, whispered something gently and teasingly, and then let go of me, leaving the room in a hurry. This time, she truly left me standing there, stunned in the room.

...

...

...

"You idiot, the person I've always liked is you."
