Volume 5 Chapter 48: The Catastrophe Doesn’t End
(Walson)
When the sound of the wind ceased, the gigantic skeletal body of the Ashura trembled, using all of its remaining strength, it tried to grip the massive spear that had pinned it to the ground, but due to its lack of power, the spear did not even budge an inch.
Then, with a cracking sound, the [Obsidian] giant spear, no longer supported by the power of Grace, can no longer maintain its shape and begins to collapse.
The skeletal Ashura roars, and its body also shatters along with the collapsing spear. Finally, dust returns to dust, soil returns to soil, and amidst the flaming scorched earth, everything turns to ashes.
Derisha pulls out the [Anti-Melon Spear Prototype 1.0] from the ashes and sits down wearily.
Not long ago, the hell-like plane that was filled with screams and cries now appeared unusually quiet.
"Walson, over here!" Cried out Barella as she carried the unconscious Grace through the air, guiding me to this place.
Melon walks beside me, and behind us, there is a tumultuous sound of footsteps. These are not strangers; they are the people who survived this disaster, our companions who fought together to defeat this monstrous creature.
I was able to finally reunite with the girls, and these survivors are now able to directly established a simple camp on the spot.
Belle and Chuck are also resting in the camp. In addition to those who fought side by side, there are also some wounded that I initially helped, including Grace's old classmate, Krya.
I haven't forgotten about the matter of being kicked out to be bait for the monster, but now is not the time for internal strife. We haven't escaped yet.
... Let's assess the current situation.
The exhausted individuals use the water resources and dry bread I provided to replenish their lost strength. In the retreat from this final battle, three people were injured or killed, but no one has brought it up.
On the girls' side, Grace drank a potion and fell into a deep sleep, seeming to be temporarily unharmed. Melon's armor is damaged, and we'll have to find time to make a new one later. As for Derisha and Barella, their conditions can be said to be the best, with no significant issues other than some minor injuries and fatigue.
Maybe this is the best result already? I sit on the ground, thinking so.
"Walson, my man, you really know how to stir things up!" A hearty laugh comes from behind me, and the next moment, my back hurts as a tremendous force almost sends me flying.
A robust and over two-meter-tall red-scaled Lizardkin sits next to me.
"Damn, take it easy. I'm just a [Villager], not built for rough treatment." I cough a few times and complain. My body aches faintly, reinforcing my dislike for the clumsy characters swinging giant weapons with few brains.
... I'm not talking about the disappointing princess; she's cute and has breasts, so she's an exception.
"Hahaha, little brother, you don't have the qualifications to say that!" The Lizardkin shows no shame, pulling out a broken canine tooth. "You broke my tooth! That's something to be proud of!"
Surprisingly, there's no hint of reproach in his words; instead, it's filled with approval.
I can't help but look at the male version of Derisha— no, look at him with a gaze akin to a dumbfounded expression.
His name is Gust, a Lizardkin by race, apparently living in a hot region. Yes, he's the guy who held a hammer and smashed the face of that monstrous creature.
At that time, shocked at his brazen action, I used the almost scrapped [Band of The Bold] to give him a punch in the face— I did manage to subdue him, but my ex-girlfriend switched to someone else as a result. Yes, my left hand became brand new again.
"After turning twenty, no one can smack my face anymore!" Gust declares. "Although you're just a [Villager], I respect you!"
"Yeah, yeah, thanks a lot," I reply lazily, not in the mood for conversation.
"By the way, Walson, my man," Gust's expression becomes peculiar as he touches himself while looking at me with eager eyes.
"What's up? I'm not interested in public Lizardkins." I gulp, although the tail is impressive, let's not go into big brother territory.
"This armor..." Gust says, and that's when I notice he's actually touching the dark purple rock armor on himself.
Ah, speaking of this, this thing was improvised by me using [Obsidian], originally designed to protect these adventurers and Ashura from harm during the battle.
As for [Obsidian], do I really need to explain? It's a product of the contact between [Lava] and [Water]. I know, I know, real [Obsidian] is quite fragile, but in Minecraft, it's one of the "hardest" materials.
Of course, the equipment made with this material is no exception. Although there hasn't been a detailed test, the hardness of this thing should be similar to [Orichalcum], or even superior.
Before this, I had no means of obtaining [Lava], but once I got to the Flame Labyrinth, I naturally took quite a bit.
In this battle, I almost pulled out all my cards, using all the equipment and potions I had for these people. The crisis at hand is resolved, but there will undoubtedly be the issue of secret leakage in the future.
I still remember the incident with Orlan Dorat; thinking about it makes my head ache.
"Keep it for yourself— huh?" However, just when everyone thought it was safe, a sudden change occurred.
At some point, a burning black fire engulfed the entire sky, and the earth began to tremble, as if something was stirring beneath.
Inside the camp, the surviving people fell into chaos. Even the calm Belle suddenly stood up, her face changing dramatically.
I'm also dumbfounded because I know we are about to be attacked by something, but I have no idea how to evade the situation.
On the [Mini-Map], it's all red, or rather, that 'red dot' has 'covered' the entire mini-map... as if the maze itself—?
The fireworks on the scorched earth are no longer red, transforming into something black and even more aggressive than fire. The scorched earth and lava are being 'consumed' by the black fire, turning into... nothingness, not even ashes.
In the midst of everyone's panic, suddenly a figure descends from the sky. Before I can see his face clearly, he waves his hand and opens a portal among the crowd. On the other side of the portal is an image of a town with lined streets!
We can go outside!
"What are you all still standing there for! Get out quickly!" The person shouts in a neutral voice. "If you're late, no one can escape!"
Belle, seeing the person who opened the portal, looks incredibly surprised, and the people in front start squeezing through in a hurry!
At this moment, a very chaotic voice rings out from the sky. I turn around to see a giant hand covered in black flames, spanning the entire sky, reaching towards me.
"S—T—E—V—E——!!!!"
Then, the world shatters.
