Gu Joy glanced at Zhou Yanlin, and felt there was something odd about him. He seemed preoccupied with something.

"Are you okay?" Gu Joy asked.

"No, let’s go. We haven’t had a meal together in a long time." Zhou Yanlin sounded a bit annoyed, having been really busy lately.

And there was also some distance between their departments, so it wasn’t easy coming over.

Now that they had finally caught the chance, it couldn’t just go to waste.

The two headed to the school cafeteria, and Zhou Yanlin had Gu Joy sit down while he went to get the food, knowing her taste.

Soon, he came over with two sets of utensils.

When he placed the utensils in front of her, Gu Joy was startled, "Oh my, that’s a lot of food."

"You got too much. I can’t finish all this." Gu Joy’s stomach couldn’t hold so much food.

It was downright frightening.

"No worries, just eat as much as you can. I’ll eat the rest," Zhou Yanlin reassured her.

A flush crept up on Gu Joy’s face and she silently began to eat, trying to eat as much as she could to not feel embarrassed.

Zhou Yanlin also started eating, and casually mentioned, "I heard someone came looking for you yesterday."

Zhou Yanlin didn’t bring up the luxury car.

He surely trusted Gu Joy, but he was puzzled. Being not familiar with the place, who could have come looking for her?

It must be someone she knew since she went with them.

Gu Joy was eating when he asked, paused, and then said, "Oh, it was my dad. He was here on a business trip and stopped by to see me."

"It was Uncle Gu? What a coincidence. You could have given us a heads up," Zhou Yanlin felt relieved knowing it was Uncle Gu.

Uncle Gu could be driving a Maybach or even flying a plane and it would be normal.

So, no doubts needed there.

Zhou Yanlin felt as if he had been on a roller coaster and had suddenly felt better.

The meal seemed much tastier now.

Watching his swift change of expression, Gu Joy was confused and mused to herself, "I guess senior brother has been too busy lately?"

He seemed a bit odd.

"By the way, Joy, after exams, let’s go home together." It wasn’t a suggestion, more like a declaration.

It had become their routine to go home together without having their parents pick them up.

Gu Joy hesitated and then agreed, "Okay."

She had already told her dad she would be going back with a classmate and had asked him not to come pick her up.

She was quite independent now.

After the meal, they walked and talked together.

To onlookers, they seemed like a couple.

Gu Joy felt like there was a rabbit thumping inside her chest, "thump, thump," as her heart raced.

She felt it too.

Zhou Yanlin looked at her, started to confess his feelings but then hesitated, wondering if it was too soon.

But he was worried about other potential suitors.

"Joy, focus on your studies in school and don’t be distracted by anything else, okay?" Zhou Yanlin subtly cautioned.

Hearing this, Gu Joy stiffened and felt a bit embarrassed; did senior brother notice her mind was elsewhere?

She quickly nodded and responded, "Senior brother, I understand. I’ll focus on my studies."

Gu Joy thought to herself, what am I even daydreaming about?
