Chapter 1419: Chapter 1418: Slandered

Chapter 1418

"You need to be a bit more careful, though. While it’s true that girls look nicer when they’re slim, you’ve got to stay healthy," the roommate advised from aside.

Lu Xinxin nodded, but deep down she was disdainful. Nowadays, everyone is all about being skinny; who would want to make themselves as fat as a pig?

It’s like the girls in her dorm, none of them cared about their figures, eating and drinking merrily, looking plump each and every one. She definitely doesn’t want to associate with them.

Lu Xinxin looked at her own slender arms and legs, feeling quite pleased with herself.

"I get it. You guys go on. I’ll rest a bit and should be fine," Lu Xie spoke softly and gently.

Once the roommates left, she took out her phone and sent Zhou Yanlin a text message.

"Yan Lin, thank you for tonight." The tone was gentle and flirtatious.

Zhou Yanlin glanced at the message, then replied, "No worries."

He was straightforward, quickly putting the matter out of his mind.

He then thought to send a text to Gu Joy, wondering if she had already returned to the dorm.

It took a while before Gu Joy responded with "I’m back," her tone neither cold nor warm, which left Zhou Yanlin feeling somewhat depressed.

Forget it, it’s already late. I can look for her tomorrow.

Gu Joy arrived back at the dorm only to receive the message much later. She glanced at it and silently put it away.

Throughout the night, Gu Joy didn’t know what was wrong. She was sleepless.

She was in a daze all night, hardly getting any good sleep.

The next morning, she woke up early, while Yuan Wen was still clinging to her bed. Gu Joy hurriedly urged her to get up, as today they had a class with old Deng, who was famously strict. Yuan Wen originally didn’t want to get up so early, but recalling how twisted old Deng was, and that he liked to do roll calls, she got up in a fluster.

They arrived at the classroom early, thankfully.

Shortly after, a classmate in the front whispered to Gu Joy, "Gu Joy, you finally made it. Have you seen the news on the campus network today?"

Gu Joy shook her head; she rarely paid attention to such things.

"Oh, you better take a look now!" the classmate urged, seemingly in a rush.

Gu Joy was skeptical but nonetheless opened the campus network.

There was a chatroom inside, and the participation was lively.

Gu Joy stared intently and then she saw it.

There was a piece of gossip about her – roughly saying that she doesn’t study well and looks to find a boyfriend as soon as she arrived at the school, and moreover, targets boyfriends who are rich and good-looking.

Anyway, that was the gist of the post, which many people commented on, and now it had been pinned to the top.

The commenters varied.

Most people felt she didn’t seem like that type of person, as she appeared very innocent.

And then there were many comments about not judging people by their appearances.

Honestly, upon seeing it, Gu Joy felt completely dumbfounded. Her mind was in disarray, and she didn’t know how to process it.

She thought about it, feeling like she hadn’t offended anyone. Why would they talk about her like that?

Yuan Wen leaned over, glanced at the screen, and practically jumped up.

"Who posted this? What kind of nonsense are they spouting? This is blatant slander. No, we must find out! Who posted this?" Yuan Wen could hardly suppress her anger, almost blowing the roof off with her voice.

Gu Joy looked at her, then shook her head, signaling her to quiet down. Raising their voices wasn’t going to solve anything.

"Is this some kind of prank, or did you offend someone?" Yuan Wen’s eyebrows were furrowed in frustration.
