Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands -
Chapter 241: Long Aotian Begging
Chapter 241: Chapter 241: Long Aotian Begging
"Don’t be afraid, the main storyline quest doesn’t have a time limit." Caicai comforted, "Even if you don’t complete it for hundreds of years, until the end of your lifespan, it won’t affect anything."
After all, at the end of one’s lifespan, they’re dead.
If the system stubbornly revives her just because the quest isn’t completed, Xiao Jinsheng would have nothing to say.
Switching perspectives.
As long as you live long enough, anything is possible.
Even just outliving everyone else can do the trick.
Listening to Caicai’s reassurance, Lou Yan Zhi questioned from the side, "Why does my quest have a time limit?"
Every day there’s a KPI to complete.
If the daily KPI isn’t met, he’ll get electrocuted.
Who is naturally born loving to fight and kill insects in a swarm?
Yet, he had grown accustomed to it day by day.
"Because when I was bound to you, I was version 1.0, now I’ve upgraded to 2.0!" Caicai replied righteously.
"Ha." Lou Yan Zhi sneered.
Xiao Jinsheng curiously looked at him, "Is this your persona, or is it really you?"
Lou Yan Zhi froze.
He raised his hand and rubbed his own face, attempting to dismiss the cold expression. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Getting electrocuted every day and playing the part of Long Aotian had almost become second nature.
This won’t do!
Now that he was finally free.
He had to live true to himself.
"You guys carry on, I’ll go fight some Insect Clan." Lou Yan Zhi walked to the window, ready to jump down, then suddenly realized something was off.
He didn’t need to kill Insect Clan for points anymore—why bother?
"Can I crash here?" Lou Yan Zhi turned and asked the group, "I don’t have any money."
"Freeloading?" Li frowned.
"I’m begging for shelter." Lou Yan Zhi nodded in affirmation.
"You deal with him." Li couldn’t communicate further with Lou Yan Zhi and gestured for Xuan Jiu to take over.
Xuan Jiu, with droopy fox ears, had been lost in thought.
The moment he heard this topic, his interest was piqued.
"Come on, let’s talk this out." Xuan Jiu beckoned Lou Yan Zhi, "I’ve got plenty of experience dealing with begging."
Shi Xie, witnessing this scene, froze in place.
The interrogative look in his eyes scanned the others, "Back when Xuan Jiu asked to stay, you made me deal with him—were you suggesting I had mental issues?"
"I never said anything like that." Mo Jiao was speechless.
"Stop pretending, you two are just different flavors of strong tea." Li mocked.
"Female Master, they’re calling me tea." Shi Xie immediately turned to Xiao Jinsheng, sitting beside her, clutching his chest in a theatrical display of hurt, and pitifully asked, "Am I tea-like?"
"No..." Xiao Jinsheng endured the gazes from the other Beast Husbands, nodded, and praised, "You’re not tea-like in the slightest!"
What’s wrong with being tea-like?
Doesn’t matter—she liked green tea.
"You’re the kindest, most innocent little fish." Xiao Jinsheng seized the chance to console him.
"I knew it." Shi Xie smirked.
Shi Xie’s challenging gaze swept across the room, landing on the others.
Su Yejin’s cold eyes glanced at him dismissively.
Seeing green tea irritated him.
He particularly disliked these scheming Beastmen.
"What about me?" Li came in front of Xiao Jinsheng, gazing down to question her.
Truth was, with too many Beast Husbands, one shouldn’t casually compliment any of them.
Such compliments would attract not just two or three, but four... or even nine.
"You’re the boldest and most imposing Demon..." Watching Li’s lips curve upward, Xiao Jinsheng quickly shifted her tone: "And the cutest puppy."
Li froze, flustered, and ruffled her hair in annoyance, "I knew it—you always mislead people."
"I styled it!" Chen Yunji used his superpower to block Li’s hand from touching Xiao Jinsheng’s hair, emphasizing, "No messing around."
"You, little one, now you’re trying to control me?" Li’s dangerous glare locked onto Chen Yunji.
Chen Yunji quietly lowered his gaze, focusing entirely on Xiao Jinsheng while tidying her hair.
He outright ignored the conflict-seeking Li beside him.
Only Xiao Jinsheng knew he was silently ranking everyone again.
In his internal "Most Annoying Beast Husband" list, excluding himself, Li had easily taken the top spot today.
Xiao Jinsheng stretched her arms wide and divided Li and Chen Yunji to opposite sides, "Both of you behave—no fighting."
"I wouldn’t fight with him," Li scoffed coldly, tilting his head to give Xiao Jinsheng a sly grin, "I’m fighting with you."
Xiao Jinsheng pinched his waist, sneering, "Fight with me? Hmm?"
"I was wrong." Li raised his hands in quick surrender, "Great Lord, spare this lowly one just this once."
Only then did Xiao Jinsheng realize she was now the Demon Lord.
She needed to delegate tasks to the demons.
Planting trees, planting trees.
They needed to plant more Purification Trees.
Constructing a safe and habitable zone in Mist West.
But Xiao Jinsheng, having just bound to the system, had her plate full.
So the task of liaising with demons over planting trees was delegated to Li.
When Li met with the elder demon, the elder smiled kindly at him, asking, "Lord Li."
Li stepped back, shaking his head at the elder, "Old man, you’re forgetting yourself."
"The Demon Lord now is Lord Xiao," the elder explained, "I still called you ’Lord’ out of respect for old times."
"Demons forget their roots and never reason through things," the elder chuckled lightly.
"No, elder, you’re mistaken." Li ruminated seriously, "Calling me ’Lord Li’—any outsiders listening might assume I’m the Demon Lord instead."
"We need a new title."
"One that rolls off your tongues easily."
"Yet makes it crystal clear to everyone that the Demon Lord is my Female Master, and I’m the Demon Lord’s Beast Husband."
"Old man, you’ve lived a long life—quick, help me come up with one."
The elder demon fell silent.
How come, after not seeing him for a while,
the former Lord’s personality had taken such a lively turn?
Compared to when they first met, he indeed seemed much more spirited.
"Alright, I’ll help brainstorm." The elder demon smiled indulgently.
There were thirty thousand demons left in the Demon Territory.
If he couldn’t come up with something, surely this many demons could collectively come up with a halfway decent idea.
Meanwhile, the penniless Lou Yan Zhi successfully begged his way into free housing at the castle.
Noticing a group of beings he’d never seen before—demons.
Observing these demons planting trees, he curiously asked, "You’re planting trees? I’ve seen the Insect Clan planting trees too."
"Insect Clan planting trees?" Xiao Jinsheng felt an impending sense of unease.
"These trees seem to have purification effects." Lou Yan Zhi probed with his spiritual power before explaining, "The trees planted by the Insect Clan are similar to yours, but their purification effects don’t measure up."
"They’re blocked by poisonous fog in Mist East, so they’re likely attempting to use this method to bypass the fog’s defenses."
"These insects certainly love using their brains," Su Ye remarked gravely. 𝑓𝘳𝘦𝑒𝑤𝑒𝘣𝘯ℴ𝘷𝘦𝓁.𝑐𝑜𝑚
At least the Fog Corpses and Mutant Beasts they fought before didn’t bother using their brains.
Making them easier to deal with.
"The Insect Clan prides itself as the smartest species in the universe." Lou Yan Zhi chimed in.
Regarding the Insect Clan’s self-confidence, the group was at a loss for words.
After all, they had been battling humanity in the Interstellar World for so many years.
Even managing to trap them in Mist West.
The Insect Clan certainly had the arrogance to back it up.
Not to mention, the warship parked in the Demon Territory had originally belonged to the Insect Clan.
Although it was snatched by Lou Yan Zhi.
Still...
The programming of the Insect Clan’s warships could be modified by Lou Yan Zhi.
And by Xiao Jinsheng.
Looking at the massive rewards her system had bestowed upon her after completing the ’Demon Lord’ and ’Deep Sea Lord’ quests, Xiao Jinsheng felt empowered.
Rather than receiving blind packs she’d have to draw from,
she’d been given an array of items and had the ability to refresh them.
Every refresh presented ten options.
The items ranged from excellent to poor, but whether or not she could get a ’Divine Artifact’ depended entirely on her patience.
Or... she could ask the system to cheat.
