Chapter 484: Chapter 484: Distribute the Harvest, Calculate Other Gains, Participate in the Banquet

During the investigation of the "Judge Hotel Sports Murder Case", the Special Investigation Team only consisted of Luo An, Reesi, Mona, and Michelle. Winslow and Chenier had not yet joined the team.

So of the 5.74 million US Dollars, Group Leader Luo An took 2 million US Dollars, and Mona, Reesi, and Michelle each got 900,000 US Dollars.

The remaining 1.04 million US Dollars were allocated to the Special Investigation Team’s activity fund.

After the funds were distributed, Mona’s eyes sparkled as she gave Luo An a knowing look, then turned back to her computer and continued typing.

Michelle, not very expressive, simply filled Luo An’s cup with water and returned to her spot, silently helping Luo An organize and document all recent case files and reports.

"I love you to death!"

Reesi, much more direct, became excited and flush-faced upon receiving her 900,000 US Dollars, jumped next to Luo An, hugged his arm tightly, then suddenly turned serious and said:

"Luo An, why don’t you have a sex-change surgery so I can marry you?"

"... I TM*#%¥#"

Luo An was stunned for a moment, then picked up a folder and started chasing Reesi, the unruly Lesbian.

Reesi, clutching her head, ran and dodged everywhere, filling the office with a lively atmosphere.

After a short while, the mischief ended, Luo An handed the bruised Reesi over to Mona, waved his hand, and turned back to the leader’s office.

Seeing Mona smiling at her, Reesi swallowed her saliva and showed an embarrassed expression, explaining:

"Mona, don’t get me wrong, I was just joking."

"I know."

Mona nodded; she certainly knew that Reesi was joking. Reesi’s Lesbian nature was deep-rooted; the relationship between her and Luo An was more like that of male buddies, with no interest in each other.

However, although she knew, Mona still decided to lightly punish Reesi, not for the joke she made about Luo An, but because Reesi, while escaping earlier, accidentally knocked over another laptop on Mona’s desk.

Mona’s desk has always been equipped with one desktop computer and three laptops.

Previously, after solving a case with Team Five, each member was gifted a laptop by the relatives of the case.

Mona got one laptop, snatched another from Luo An, and later bought components to assemble one herself.

Under Reesi’s terrified gaze, Mona rolled up her sleeves, chuckled, and extended her "devil’s claw" towards Reesi’s waist - she knew from a previous accidental opportunity that Reesi was extremely ticklish.

As for the "tragic event" happening beside them, Michelle and Winslow, one blind and one deaf, continued typing and working at a steady pace, writing reports and handling tasks.

Chenier did speak up to plead for mercy on Reesi’s behalf, but while speaking, Chenier also secretly grabbed Reesi’s hands that wanted to counterattack Mona.

Reesi: "..."

To Winslow and Chenier, the fact they didn’t receive a portion of the case proceeds didn’t bother them much. Both mature in thought, they hadn’t participated in the investigation and handling of that case, so naturally, they didn’t share in its proceeds.

Moreover, Winslow and Chenier weren’t anxious. Having joined the Special Investigation Team not long ago, they had already earned more money than in many years of their previous jobs.

With Luo An’s skills and abilities in solving cases, there would be plenty of opportunities to earn money in the future.

Back in the leader’s office, Luo An logged into the computer on his desk, transferred 2 million US Dollars to his bank account, and then began organizing and calculating the Special Investigation Team’s funds for handling cases.

Since taking over as the leader of the Special Investigation Team, Luo An understood the feelings of Augustus, the previous leader of Team Five.

The primary source of Team Five’s operational funds under Augustus came from upper management allocations, plus a bit of frugality... economizing by Group Supervisor Vireness, so Augustus’s days were not easy, often strapped for operating funds.

Luo An was different. Although the funds allocated to him for handling cases were not abundant, he always managed to earn operational funds for the Special Investigation Team himself.

Not only including the recent 1.04 million US Dollars from the "Judge Hotel Sports Sniper Case", but also after solving the "Audison family villa mass death case", 10 million US Dollars were donated by Rekasha to the Special Investigation Team, 8 million of which was divided among Luo An and others, with the remaining 2 million US Dollars still available.

Plus, adding up various funds from other cases handled by the Special Investigation Team, the current operational funds on the books amounted to 5.33 million US Dollars.

"..."

Without calculating, you wouldn’t know, but upon calculating, Luo An was shocked that so much money had accumulated.

Upon reflection, it made sense. The Special Investigation Team’s major expenses in handling each case were only three categories:

SUV fuel cost; transit and meal expenses for the agents during investigations; and ammunition cost when on a mission.

Besides, the desks in the Special Investigation Team’s office area were "gifted" to Luo An by other investigative teams; the computers used by the agents were also "gifted" to Luo An by other investigative teams.

Even the several SUVs of the Special Investigation Team were still "gifted" by others to Luo An.

With Luo An’s excellent case handling ability, the Special Investigation Team’s case funds have always had a much higher income than expenses.

Quietly closing the computer page, Luo An became even more determined to use the official car for private purposes.

Sunday, evening.

Invited by Supervisor Elmer from the IRS-CI, Luo An, dressed in a suit, along with Mona who also dressed up, went to Elmer’s eldest daughter’s adult ceremony.

Elmer’s eldest daughter is named Shi Anni, and tonight’s adult ceremony banquet is held at a small hotel that specializes in this kind of event.

There weren’t many guests, besides Shi Anni’s classmates, only direct relatives of Elmer’s family and friends whom Elmer and his wife have a good relationship with were invited.

"Good evening."

Seeing Luo An entering the hotel with Mona, Elmer and his wife immediately came forward, briefly introduced the women’s identities to each other, and Luo An asked with a smile:

"Are we late?"

"Not at all, there’s still more than half an hour before it officially starts."

Elmer laughed heartily and led the two deeper into the hotel. Luo An glanced around and noticed that the banquet hall was decorated primarily in orange, adorned with balloons and many of Shi Anni’s everyday photos, giving a warm overall atmosphere.

After making small talk for a bit, Mona was taken by Elmer’s wife to chat with the female guests. Elmer excused himself to greet other guests, and Luo An casually picked up a glass of wine and began to stroll around.

"Hello."

As Luo An was looking at the photos around the venue, a voice with a high sugar content suddenly came from behind him. Luo An turned around instinctively and saw a young girl wearing a pale blue long dress with a pretty face but somewhat plain appearance.

"Hello."

Luo An didn’t know who she was, greeted her with a smile, and asked:

"Can I help you with anything?"

"My name is Adanna, I’m Shi Anni’s classmate, what’s your name?"

The young girl blinked her unexpectedly large eyes, slightly tilted her head up to look at Luo An, and asked:

"I don’t know you from Shi Anni’s class. Who invited you, can you tell me?"

"My name is Luo An, Luo An Greenwood."

Luo An didn’t understand what the girl wanted, so he answered smilingly:

"I’m a friend of Shi Anni’s father."

"A friend of Uncle Elmer? Also working at the IRS?"

"Why do you ask?"

"Because you are very handsome."

Adanna picked up a cup filled with milk and clinked it with Luo An, her big eyes unblinkingly staring at Luo An, smilingly asked:

"Do you have a girlfriend? If not, I would like to be your girlfriend."

Luo An: "..."

"Stop teasing, Adanna."

Just as Luo An was pondering how to respond, a white man in his fifties, wearing a suit and sporting a Mediterranean hairstyle, came over.

He gently patted Adanna’s shoulder, then smilingly extended his hand to Luo An:

"Hello, Group Leader Greenwood, my name is Philip, from the CIA."
