Chapter 454: Chapter 454: The Case Truth According to the Suspect

In the interrogation room, Hector Jamie, who had been shot in both legs, sat in a wheelchair, his hands cuffed together. After a long silence, he sighed and replied in a low voice:

"The mother and child should still be alive. They’re in a basement of a house in the southern part of Las Vegas."

Chenier, who was in the interrogation room, was stunned for a moment at this revelation. Winslow, Mona, Reesi, and Michelle, who were observing the interrogation from the monitoring room, were also taken aback.

After learning that Belinda and Henry, the mother and child, had disappeared without any leads, the Special Investigation Team had prepared for the worst. After all, the killer had already murdered 26 people in the villa, what’s two more?

Learning that the mother and child might still be alive, Luo An’s eyebrows twitched as he immediately asked:

"What’s the specific location of that house?"

Hector Jamie gave the exact location, and Luo An immediately paused the interrogation, stepped out of the room to take out his phone, and called the local FBI in Las Vegas to ask for assistance in rescuing people from that house.

After hanging up the phone, Luo An entered the monitoring room and said to Winslow and Reesi:

"You two take a plane to Las Vegas right now and confirm the condition of the mother and child, Belinda and Henry."

"Understood."

Winslow and Reesi nodded in unison and immediately turned and left. Luo An pondered for a few seconds, returned to the interrogation room, and continued to interrogate Hector Jamie.

"You must already know why we’ve arrested you."

Luo An set down a cup of hot coffee in front of Hector Jamie, then sat back down in his chair and asked:

"So, tell me, what exactly happened in the villa?"

Hector Jamie did not immediately answer Luo An’s question but with a serious face, stated his demand:

"I request to sign a confession agreement."

Chenier frowned slightly upon hearing this, turning to look at Luo An, as only the team leader of the Special Investigation Team had the authority to decide whether to accommodate the request.

Luo An stared at Hector Jamie for a long while until Hector Jamie became visibly uncomfortable, shifting in his chair. Then suddenly, Luo An cracked a smile and agreed to his demand:

"No problem, but you know what signing a confession agreement entails, right?

Once the agreement is signed, you must admit to your crimes truthfully and must not testify falsely or give any false statements."

Hector Jamie nodded repeatedly, and Luo An, seeing this, did not waste any more words. Two hours later, both sides signed the confession agreement, and Hector Jamie visibly relaxed, confessing everything.

Hector Jamie, in his youth, had come to know an owner who trafficked in second-hand antiques and overheard from him about the legendary treasure of the Krista family. After ten years of daily investigation, Hector Jamie was certain that the treasure truly existed in this world.

The Krista’s lost cross was indeed stolen by Hector Jamie who had disguised himself as a gardener to infiltrate the estate.

But all Hector Jamie managed to steal was the cross, for the ruby ring was always worn by Krista, and he never had the chance to lay his hands on it.

After being released from prison, Hector Jamie constantly pondered how to get his hands on that ruby ring, and it was during this time that he met Ao Na in a bar in Las Vegas.

Hector Jamie sighed and said:

"Ao Na was very heartbroken at the time because her beloved boyfriend had been forced by Pranay O’Dell’s eldest daughter-in-law to overdose on drugs during exercise and died suddenly."

Ao Na’s boyfriend was very handsome and worked at the Audel family’s company, yet somehow caught the eldest daughter-in-law of Pranay O’Dell’s eye, leading to the tragic incident.

Ao Na harbored deep hatred for that woman, but with the latter’s high status and wealth, Ao Na had no means for revenge. Hector Jamie knew about this but didn’t care, as he could not help her.

Until a while ago, Hector Jamie, who had been keeping an eye on the Krista family, learned about the party information.

Hector Jamie quickly thought of Ao Na.

Hector Jamie did not tell Ao Na about the treasure; he simply said that he wanted to steal things to make money and that the party was an opportunity. Ao Na could also take advantage of the party to take revenge on Pranay Audel’s eldest daughter-in-law.

Moreover, Hector Jamie claimed that he found out Pranay Audel’s eldest daughter-in-law had secretly deposited a bearer bond worth 50 million dollars in a bank in Las Vegas.

As long as they could get the fingerprints of Pranay Audel’s eldest daughter-in-law, Hector Jamie had a way to withdraw the bond from the bank, and then they would split the 50 million dollars fifty-fifty.

Hector Jamie felt his words were somewhat deceitful, but Ao Na agreed without a second thought, and they began to devise a plan.

The plan the two came up with wasn’t very complicated. Hector Jamie first found Belinda and her son’s information and then posted a job online, looking for skilled and capable thieves.

On the night of the party, Henry, who received fifty thousand dollars, feigned illness, called his mother to deceive her into going home. Ao Na seized the opportunity to take Belinda’s place in the kitchen, adding sleeping drugs to the food, drugging everyone in the villa, allowing the thief to enter and steal as per the list.

As for Belinda and her son Henry, Hector Jamie’s original plan was to deceive and kill the two of them, effectively erasing any traces.

"But plans are just plans; when it actually came to committing murder, I hesitated."

Hector Jamie swallowed hard, admitting he had underestimated the psychological pressure of killing.

According to the original plan, when Hector Jamie brought Belinda and her son Henry to a basement he had prepared beforehand, Ao Na should have already drugged the villa, and the thief should have entered and started the heist.

But as soon as Hector Jamie brought them into the basement, his phone started ringing frantically.

Discovering that the call was from the trio of thieves, Hector Jamie was puzzled, because there was no such step in the plan. Worried that law enforcement had caught the thieves and were using the call as bait, Hector Jamie did not dare to answer.

Hector Jamie also did not immediately kill Belinda and her son but instead took them to a backup location only he knew about, deciding to wait until the next day to clarify the situation.

Then, the next day, Hector Jamie saw on TV that the news media in Las Vegas were ubiquitously reporting the death of everyone in the villa.

"The sleeping drug matter had always been Ao Na’s responsibility, because she was the one needed to do it that night; that’s why I never asked in detail."

At this point, Hector Jamie’s eyes widened with shock, and he said:

"But I never imagined, Ao Na, that woman is a lunatic! She actually used drugs to kill everyone in the villa to avenge her boyfriend!"

Upon learning the news of everyone’s death in the villa, Hector Jamie, who was only after money, sat down on the ground, at a loss.

After slapping himself several times, Hector Jamie barely managed to calm himself down.

Out of fear, and because kidnapping and murder are two different things, Hector Jamie did not kill Belinda and Henry, but also did not dare to let them go. So he tied them up together, leaving their fate in God’s hands, and he quickly returned to Portland, Oregon...

Hector Jamie did not speak quickly, and it took over two hours to finish the interrogation; it was already half past three in the afternoon.

"Good work."

Luo An and Chenier left the interrogation room and walked into the nearby monitoring room, where Michelle handed them two giant hamburgers with a smile:

"Winslow just called Mona and me, saying that Belinda and Henry have been found in Las Vegas. Except for malnutrition and poor mental state, they have no other problems.

With Hector Jamie having confessed most everything, it seems this case is almost concluded."

Luo An casually tore apart the hamburger’s wrapping, watching the monitoring image of Hector Jamie lying on the table and chuckled:

"Concluded? I’m afraid Mr. Hector Jamie hasn’t led us to the last step yet."

Michelle paused for a moment when he heard this, while Chenier let out a cold laugh, staring at the monitor in front of them and took a big bite of her hamburger.
