Legendary Extraction: Kingdom Builder in a Ruined World -
Chapter 49: Weight Of A Crown.
Chapter 49: Weight Of A Crown.
Elias sighed as he looked ahead deep in thought. The scent of blood in the air was fading.
Right now, he had a lot of potential—more than most—but the real problem was his lack of resources, especially his EP and MP.
His Extraction Points weren’t much of a concern for now. As long as he kept hunting beasts, he could always gather more. But his mana pool—his MP—was a serious issue. For someone like him, who walked the path of an Undead Summoner, this was a major setback. His class was a fusion of necromancer and summoner—two classes that heavily relied on mana. And yet, his current mana reserves were pitiful.
Most people who has either of those classes usually poured all their stat points into Intelligence. That way, they had a large mana pool.
But Elias wasn’t like them.
He had no intention of becoming a fragile glass cannon who only hid behind his undead army. He wanted strength in all areas—physically, mentally, and magically. That kind of balance meant his stat points were spread out, and because of that, his mana pool was thin. Too thin. It made controlling a large number of undead nearly impossible.
He hated that fact.
The more undead he could control during battle, the more influence he had on the field. And when it came to undead summons, his options were limited.
Right now, he only had five slots for undead summons. That was why, even though he still had one gacha ticket left, he hadn’t used it yet. He had already used a massive amount of luck just pulling Vael—an Epic-ranked summon. If he used another ticket now and ended up with a Common-rank summon, it would be a waste.
No—his best option for now was to build an army of standard undead using beast corpses. But again, his MP limited him. He couldn’t scale that plan with his current mana pool.
Still, Elias wasn’t out of options.
He knew there were other ways to improve his mana pool besides putting points into Intelligence.
Skills, artifacts, and rare treasures could also help. If he could get a skill that increased mana regeneration, or find an artifact that expanded his total mana capacity, a lot of his problems would be solved.
But there was a problem.
He was broke.
Flat-out poor.
The territory had drained almost all his savings. Everything he had earned since arriving in this world had gone into building the territory. And the worst part? The territory wasn’t generating anything in return. No income. No benefits. Just a giant black hole sucking away all his wealth.
He was losing resources fast and getting nothing back. It was frustrating, to say the least.
The Lord path was slow when it came to personal growth, and Elias felt that more than anyone. But still, he didn’t regret choosing this path. Because in the end, Lords always came out on top.
A territory wasn’t just a piece of land. It was a blessed domain connected to the World Will itself. When a territory was formed, it created a Lord Seal—and only a few people could bond with it and from the moment they did, they began receiving boons as the territory grew.
As a territory developed, so did the strength of its Lord. The blessings of the land would not only nourish the people but also channel spiritual energy directly to the one in control.
That was why the Lord was always the strongest in this word and a powerful territory has higher chance of birthing more gifted individuals than an average one due to its blessings. That’s the main reason many people dreamed of becoming a Lord. But only a few ever managed to merge with a Lord Seal and truly gain that status. Those who did were greatly rewarded as their territory grew. And if they expanded further by gaining more domains, their benefits increased even more.
In this world, each person could only have one main territory—the very first one they bonded with through a Lord Seal. Any other territory they ruled would only be considered a subsidiary one, a domain.
But for Elias, all that didn’t matter much right now, his main territory was still young. It had no resources, no income, and no real way to generate either. It only knew how to take. And he was the one paying the price—burning through his karma points just to keep it afloat.
Still, Elias had plans.
His territory didn’t need to be filled with natural resources. Trade and craftsmanship could support it just as well as ores or rare herbs. But for that plan to work, he needed talent. Real talent. Blacksmiths, tailors, enchanters, builders. His current Craftsmen were average at best—enough to get by, but nowhere near enough to raise the territory’s standard or attract traders.
To find better people, he would need to travel to other human territories to seearch and recruit those talents.
But that was something for the future.
Right now, it was time to return home.
He turned toward Vael. "Let’s head back."
The field of carnage from earlier was mostly cleared. Most of the beast corpses had either been extracted for resources or reanimated into undead. A few still remained, untouched, but Elias didn’t plan on wasting any more time—or mana—on them. His Extraction Points were already used up, and his KP had been drained after buying mana regeneration potions to continue the undead awakening process. Trying to force more gains from this hunt would only be inefficient.
And truthfully, he was already satisfied with what he had gotten today. After all, you couldn’t have it all in one trip.
With Vael by his side, he started walking back toward the territory. Behind them, a small army of undead beasts followed silently.
By the time they reached his territory, the sky had already turned orange—it was evening now.
A few people were training in the open field near the Embergrove Forest entrance, while others stood around chatting or taking a break. The moment Elias and Vael came into view, their presence was immediately noticed. Heads turned as the two of them walked calmly, followed by the eerie sight of dozens of beastly undead.
Gasps and whispers quickly spread through the crowd.
"Wait... are those all undead?"
"He brought that many back with him?"
"That’s terrifying... just how strong is he?"
The voices filled the air, but Elias didn’t pay them any attention. He walked ahead calmly, completely composed. As he passed by a group near the training grounds, the people bowed respectfully, though many of them looked stiff and uneasy—almost like they expected one of the beasts to pounce on them at any moment.
Elias gave a simple nod in return, acknowledging them, but didn’t stop or slow down.
He continued walking toward his residence, Vael following behind him.
Once they passed, the tension in the air broke.
Everyone who had been standing there let out a collective breath of relief.
"Gods, I thought I was going to faint," one man muttered, wiping sweat from his forehead.
"The pressure from those undead..." someone else said in a low voice, "It felt like being hunted."
"They could probably wipe out Kael and Veran’s entire caravan if they attacked together."
And honestly, that was true.
Even if Elias and Vael didn’t step in, the undead army behind them could wipe out that caravan easily. After all, the weakest among them was level seven.
The group fell quiet after that realization.
But what would surprise them even more was the truth—Vael had killed all those beasts alone, before they were reanimated. And that said a lot about his strength.
Even though Vael was only level six, he had power far beyond his level. His superior stats and elite equipment made him a beast in battle and with Elias’s and the undead army backing them, their combined strength was more than enough to make everyone of them nervous.
