Chapter 733: Chapter 377: Burn My Broken Body [Part Two]
As the Iron Tower collapsed, the troop formations at the front of the pyramid were forced to make way. The Ninth Martial God leapt onto the Iron Tower. Under his feet, the Iron Tower deformed like putty and surged like a mudslide.
Steel surged forward.
What it met was a thin cluster of metal aerosol.
This metal aerosol still retained a certain degree of visibility; Xiang Shan could vaguely make out the soldiers moving in formation within it. These soldiers were very decisive, five to seven of them connecting into a group with wired connections, and the squad commanders communicated via audio waves. It seemed they had undergone prior training to distinguish sounds from the left or right and filter them out from the background noise—during initial inner strength training, one could choose to emphasize enhancing the brain’s sensory information processing capabilities.
All commanders would only hear audio commands from either their immediate left or immediate right—Xiang Shan didn’t know whether it was left or right, but for lower-level Martial Artists, the sensory organs’ installation position would be as close as possible to their natural locations. Therefore, it was easiest for people to determine the direction of the sound source based on the time difference as the sound reached both ears.
These frontline commanders not only conveyed their own decisions via audio waves but also encoded the information from upstream commanders of the same level and passed it on downstream.
The soldiers in a single column thus formed an ancient ring network topology structure.
And in the middle of each column, there were higher-ranking commanders responsible for coordinating with other columns.
This decentralized topology structure was countless times less efficient than the "Staff Headquarters + Tactical AI + military martial arts experts" model, but because it was primitive enough, it was resistant to many forms of interference. Even if Xiang Shan used jamming methods, the ring network could perform error correction through algorithms. Perhaps this error correction process would be delayed by tens of seconds due to the speed of sound, but under the terrifying numbers, Xiang Shan had no chance to expand his victory.
Now, the ring-shaped waves were hidden in the silver fog, charging at the Martial God.
Dozens of rockets flew in from the other side. The Protector Army’s firepower destroyed half of them, but the remaining rockets reached the Iron Tower in time.
The Ninth Martial God stretched out his arm toward the sky, and a three-meter-long serrated cutting weapon fell into his palm.
There were more magazines, more sword boxes, more attachment modules.
The rockets disintegrated, and these weapons, gliding past the Ninth Martial God with inertia, were caught by mechanical arms ejected from within the Ninth Martial God and docked under the action of electromagnetic force.
The same happened with multiple prosthetic bodies including Pisces.
This was the arsenal exchanged for the sacrifice of "Aries."
"Aries" was the first Zodiac Airframe Xiang Shan lost. In order to access ammunition suitable for Xiang Shan’s prosthetic body, it was necessary to enter a specific warehouse. Before that, without usable ammunition, "Aries" could only bombard the gate with conventional weapons and then personally break through it.
And lying in ambush behind the gate were fifty robots holding Sonicon Blades.
Martial Arts were designed to emphasize the brain’s "creativity." In terms of tactical and strategic imagination and grasping the battlefield, robots were far inferior to humans. However, in situations with a set scenario, given advance preparation and calculations, robots could overwhelm Martial Artists.
"Aries" Xiang Shan faced fifty blades, fifty meticulously calculated strikes as though they were delivered by human top experts, intent on mutual destruction.
Without the support of a biological brain, the Twelve Zodiacs... no, the Ninth Martial God himself was also just an AI, albeit one that hadn’t been updated in sixty years.
"Aries" dodged back from more than thirty blades, and the blades of the Sonicon Blades that flashed before him all shattered. The robots that shone the blades were scrapped.
But the external armor of "Aries" was also dismembered in synchronization.
Then, the soldiers concentrated fire, and bullets shot into the fusion reactor, damaging the magnetic containment device. The instantaneous high temperatures melted the chest of "Aries."
"Libra," after replenishing enough cold weapons, killed all these soldiers, but "Aries" was ultimately gone.
This was an absolutely asymmetric battle.
Yet the Ninth Martial God still swung the cutting weapon in his hands with all his might—it happened to be the biggest and heaviest close-combat weapon in the entire city.
The Martial God shouted, "So what am I fighting for, Everything back and more..."
Then, the clash erupted in that instant.
"Taurus" once again turned into a meteor on the ground, charging recklessly. Capricorn and the Ninth Martial God’s main body swung the huge cutting weapon freely, and Pisces tilted firepower forward.
In the third second of engagement, one of the four large blades held by Capricorn had broken off a piece. But Xiang Shan didn’t care.
He had never expected this thing to cause much damage. King Aqini had made sure that no heavier weapon existed in Paradox City to prevent the Ninth Martial God from exploiting his prosthetic body’s performance advantages. For Xiang Shan, the most important function of this weapon was "obstruction"—he needed to prevent the enemy from approaching with a Sonicon Blade.
"And I’m not gonna let this go, I’m ready to settle the score..."
"Taurus" became the second broken Twelve Zodiac. It repeatedly breached the enemy’s defenses. Modern barriers with armor-piercing bullet effects were merely a minor inconvenience for it. Xiang Shan’s reaction speed and strength were even enough to allow Taurus to keep moving without slowing down, reaching out in advance to grab the modern barriers formed by armor-piercing bullets and fling them away—along with the structures they were embedded into the ground.
Taurus soon encountered another column of Martial Artists assault troops wielding Sonicon Blades. All of its thrusters opened, executing movement techniques that were incredibly intricate for its massive size, and passed by in a flash like fireworks. Behind it, the assault troop was pulverized.
But this troop had completed its mission—they had slowed down Taurus.
Taurus was a Heavy Prosthesis with huge inertia; it needed time to accelerate and decelerate.
White Night Lux seized this moment. She collided from the side. Her flight components exploded with loud noises due to inhaling too much metal aerosol. She forcefully stomped, crushing the flight device, embedding all the debris into the ground like bullets. As she charged, her arms emitted a pneumatic sound—a blade previously hidden in her arm slid along a magnetic track reserved in her staff and embedded at the top.
The weapon’s original blade had been discarded.
The weapon was originally convertible for use as a Sonicon Blade—or rather, that was its true use!
White Night Lux wielded the Sonicon Blade, pouncing at "Taurus" from the side.
