Chapter 694: Chapter 338: The 90s

Hearing this, Hamuki muttered, "Those who fill their own pockets and those officers with problematic brains, never did much good for us anyway, right?"

"Good? Does Yawgmoth need any benefits from us?" Fraser said, "Remember, the advancements of this world owe a great deal to the achievements of Yawgmoth. Even the madman from yesterday didn’t deny that. I bet even the Martial Ancestor wouldn’t deny it either. Yawgmoth doesn’t need any benefits from us."

"Moreover, I want to emphasize again that nobody can distinguish an ’unintentional mistake’ from ’intentional sabotage.’ Unless, of course, the Order of Knights in the Galapagos Sanctuary makes further progress in deciphering the secrets of the human brain."

"If we judge loyalty based on actions, a whole lot of the devout who ’aren’t careful with the details’ would be killed off. But even if the Scientific Knight Order really developed a mechanism similar to the ’Supervising Battle Officers’ and ensured that Internal Strength Masters couldn’t circumvent it... it wouldn’t mean much. A Protector who, in their heart, believes they are utterly loyal to Yawgmoth’s ideals, can still embezzle more resources for their own subordinates—they just need to convince themselves that ’only I, the loyal one, deserve these resources’ and ’it’s for His Majesty’s dream.’"

"In the end, that would just lead to a sharp decline in the number of people willing to join us."

By now, Fraser was in the mood for discussion. He said, "Remember this if you ever think of leaving my command one day to become an official Military Officer; you must be familiar with these matters."

Hamuki obediently bowed his head, "Yes."

He truly did seem like someone who could become a high-level Military Officer like a Lord.

"You must be quite clear about the Throne’s century-long plan. In ninety years, ’the final war’ will break out. Until then, our task is to ’cleanse this world.’ Everything constructed in the old ways will be erased by us."

"The ancient concept of ’public property’ has been eradicated. There will be no more constructs leveraging the right to distribute ’public resources’ to oppress and trample upon humanity. Currently, these old traditions can only find remnants within the Scientific Knight Order. But this is also determined by the ideology of ’Truth.’"

"To us, there is no ’publicly owned goods,’ only ’private property granted by an officer to their subordinates’ is allowed."

"Perhaps Hero did not understand this and thus used an outdated concept..."

Hamuki interjected, "But we all understand what ’hoarding resources’ means, right?"

"Yes," Fraser sighed, "It shows that the old constructs are incredibly resilient, still clinging to our brains. Perhaps what the Throne wants to see is... Hero inciting everyone to encroach on public resources, leaving everyone confused with no idea what he’s talking about?"

"This ideal..." Hamuki said, "I, a common man, could never understand the sublime intentions of the Throne."

"Don’t try to understand. His Majesty Yawgmoth is a sage who leads humanity across barriers, a transcendent figure beyond history. If you find his actions absurd, it’s likely because you do not see the landscape he sees," Fraser spoke casually, "Don’t try to understand, believe."

Hamuki nodded earnestly on the ground, "Yes. But then, as now, looking at those Heroes building ’constructs’ and polluting the human spirit, I feel angry."

Fraser spoke leisurely, "That’s precisely where they betray humanity. The Martial Ancestor and Yawgmoth were once partners who swore to eradicate such constructs and liberate humanity. But, in his later years, the Martial Ancestor reneged on that promise."

Hamuki said, "This is history that we, as humans, must etch in our memories."

"But... the final ninety years," Fraser continued with a sigh, "In ninety years, I hope we truly can stand on the right side."

Fraser patted Hamuki’s shoulder, "You need to work hard too."

"Yes, sir."

When Hiroshi Matsushima woke up, his head hurt tremendously.

Xiang Shan was sitting cross-legged in front of him.

"Yo, awake, huh?"

"Where is this?" Matsushima Hiroshi shook his head, "I feel like the ground is moving... it’s not just my perception, is it?"

"No, it’s not. You’re on a vehicle right now, and we’re heading south," Xiang Shan said.

"What happened to me?"

"Seems like the brain damage was too severe," Zero said from a speaker near Matsushima Hiroshi. He then noticed for the first time that the speaker was attached to him.

Zero continued, "After the breakout, everything went dark for you, and you collapsed suddenly. Looks like the vibrations from the battle destabilized your injury. Your junior carried you out... however, for some reason, he seemed to try to remove your limbs to lighten the load..."

Matsushima Hiroshi nodded, "I see."

He sat for a few seconds before speaking again, "Let it be. It’s not as bad as I imagined... the sky hasn’t fallen."

Zero’s joke didn’t affect him. He was just reflecting on his Martial Arts.

Xiang Shan nodded, "Yeah. Looks like you really need this thing now."

Xiang Shan took out a cryogenic container from behind him.

"Inside are three doses of Restoring Enzyme... this amount is enough to heal most brain injuries," Xiang Shan said, "Good stuff."

Matsushima Hiroshi looked at the container in front of him, nodded, and slowly placed his hand on it.

"You don’t need me to say much about Internal Strength Cultivation. At least the one in your head is professional enough. At least he’s more than enough to get you started," Xiang Shan said.

Matsushima Hiroshi gave a wry smile, didn’t continue, and changed the subject, "I thought you’d be busy now. I noticed you took the Lord’s Prosthetic Body..."

"Oh, yeah. I did allocate a few threads of thought to control the engineering robots, to readjust that Prosthetic Body," Xiang Shan said, "But that doesn’t stop me from chatting."

Matsushima Hiroshi nodded again, but said nothing more.

Then, from not far away came a cry that pierced the sky, "Waaah... I’m sorry... I’m truly not... I didn’t want to betray you all... it wasn’t... me..."

The crying mixed with the sound of apologies.

Matsushima Hiroshi asked, "What happened?"

"Well... didn’t we save a kid earlier?" Xiang Shan sighed, "His mind’s been damaged, now he says whatever comes into his head. Even if nobody wants to bring up the matter, he keeps going on about it."
