Chapter 682: Chapter 326: High-Level Pattern

His Excellency Ashur-Lei-Goodrian’s aircraft docked on the top floor of the Pine Eagle Building. The Scientific Knight fell straight from mid-air, and the moment he landed, he created a spider-web-like crack on the ground.

This was a building with a classic aura, reminiscent of a Buddhist temple or a Taoist temple. However, its designers had carefully erased all religious symbols to avoid violating the Dyson Principle.

A massive genetically modified Bodhi Tree occupied most of the rooftop, nearly enveloping a bell tower more than ten meters tall. The plant and the building seemed to merge into one.

Meanwhile, countless branches and leaves embraced the signal tower on the top of the Pine Eagle Building like the hands of gods and Buddhas.

From a certain angle, it looked rather like some sort of handprint.

Ashur’s eyes flashed with disdain. He was well aware of the details of this thing. Though this tree looked many times bigger than those millennia-old Bodhi trees dug up from the South Asian Subcontinent and brought into space with their roots intact, it was also a product of genetic engineering, growing at an extremely fast rate. Given sufficient inorganic nutrients and energy, it could grow explosively. Such a size could be reached in no more than ten years.

As for the shape, which resembled a giant Lotus handprint, it benefited from the scattered electromagnetic radiation from the signal tower—this genetically modified organism could utilize electromagnetic radiation beyond visible light.

However, when he looked at Amilcare Zhao, he was very careful to erase all expression from his face.

Amilcare stood in front of the small courtyard. His Prosthetic Body Armor was overall shaped like a sharp wedge, giving a strong impression of a "blade" or "axe." His three-meter-tall frame was somewhat burly, and he stood with a melee weapon supported by both hands, similar to a protector Vajra. He even had two flexible antennas on his head, hanging behind him like giant pheasant feathers.

Ashur, unusually, greeted first, "So, Mr. Amilcare, were you looking for me?"

Amilcare calmly looked at the bell tower merged with the Bodhi Tree, seemingly in some sort of meditation. Maintaining a tranquil demeanor, he spoke, "You must have heard, Holy Knight. Your server has detected the Six Dragons Sect’s code."

Ashur cursed internally, but said, "Yes, that’s the case, but I was unaware of it."

"The code was detected by a plugin uploaded from the Moon," Amilcare continued. "The Kings are watching."

"I truly was not aware of this," stressed Ashur. "The Order of Scientific Knights, due to its nature, often has data stolen. It’s said that eighty years ago, Lord King Agni in the Araya Holy Knight Order repelled an Inner Strength attack from the Eighth Martial God. Even a Martial God would steal data from the Scientific Knight Order."

"The Six Dragons Sect is a newly emerged power. They just attacked Secluded Crane City," Amilcare said. "This has greatly enraged the King, thus unlocking more data. It is rumored that the Six Dragons Sect might be a faction that split from within the Scientific Knight Order."

Ashur was startled, "Are you suspecting that I am a member of the Six Dragons Sect? That’s absurd."

"Absurd?" Amilcare said, "I don’t think so. You Scientific Knights hold resources and privileges that we could all envy. I don’t even understand why you are corrupted by anti-human ideologies."

"This has nothing to do with me. I always tread the path charged towards the unknown. I am the most devout Knight of Yawgmoth," Ashur tried to dissociate himself.

"That’s exactly what you should be doing," said Amilcare.

At this moment, several drones carrying weapons slowly approached.

Ashur sensed a hint of danger, "Are you going to attack me? I am a Scientific Knight, and even if I am under suspicion, the Gene Bank’s defense forces have no right to execute me. Only the Conquest Heavenly King or His Excellency Yawgmoth has the power to execute me!"

That’s true, but King Agni never played by the rules. After killing someone, as long as he could present evidence that the person deserved it, the other Kings would have no objections.

Even if it’s a Scientific Knight.

King Agni once uncovered the collusion of a Scientific Knight with Hero, smuggling experimental weapons data beyond Jupiter’s orbit. He executed many people at that time.

If this "Six Dragons Sect" were determined to be dangerous anti-humanity elements, his position wouldn’t be much better.

But Amilcare simply opened the interfaces on the side and back of his external armor, "What are you thinking? It’s just that the time is almost here, and I’m making some preparations."

"Oh..." Ashur finally breathed a sigh of relief, "It must be that fleeing rebel."

"Just a rat taking advantage of the terrain to scurry away."

His Excellency the Holy Knight recalled the high platform he had seen on the aircraft, "Then I look forward to your performance."

Amilcare nodded, "Please wait here, Holy Knight. Once I return, we’ll continue to discuss this matter in detail."

At that moment, Ashur finally caught on.

It seemed there was still more to discuss.

Perhaps Amilcare offering himself up would only count as a minor merit—this feudal lord did not truly believe that the Holy Knight was the hope of the Six Dragons Sect’s members. The Scientific Knight going up and safely coming down was not a small possibility.

For Ashur, such incidents would not just give him a scare but could also damage his reputation. The Great Knights and Knight Commanders of the Sanctuary might doubt his leadership ability. After this incident, his funding would definitely be cut, even affecting his authority in the "Mona Project."

He had originally orchestrated multiple connections to buy the leftovers of the "Mona Project" from the Araya Holy Knight Order, thus establishing the Mona Knight Order.

He could not accept this.

But such incidents would not reduce his authority at the local level.

Perhaps Amilcare was looking to strike a deal to reduce the constraints on him locally.

Ashur realized that he was completely at someone else’s mercy.

If this were in the past, how dare Amilcare keep the Holy Knight waiting here while he dealt with a few unimportant rebels?

Those guys were just tools Amilcare was using to apply psychological pressure on Ashur.

Ashur cursed inwardly, but he dared not leave.

At that moment, he saw a small light below.

Amilcare was still interfacing with his equipment and hadn’t left. That was the sound of battle coming from below.

He said, "It seems some knights are indeed unwilling to submit."

Amilcare nodded, "These anti-humanity elements never give one peace of mind."

At this moment, they didn’t know that the chaos beneath the thousand floors wasn’t caused by the knights.

Just like they didn’t know that at this very moment, a dark shadow was taking the elevator up towards the top floor as if sightseeing, without the security system setting off any alarms at his arrival.
