Legend of the Cyber Heroes -
Chapter 394 - 38: The Plan
Chapter 394: Chapter 38: The Plan
Last year, Yuki began plotting this plan.
If there was a chance, he would attempt a rescue.
If the Ninth Martial God’s mental state had deteriorated beyond salvation, he would collect data and then escape.
As long as the opponent didn’t deploy the formation used against "Martial Gods," he had a chance of fighting his way out.
It was simple, the Inner Strength of the Eighth Martial God had surpassed that of Ingrid and Anatoly from two hundred years ago, and had even brushed against the level of Hartman and Zhu Xinyu from eighty years ago.
Even from the standpoint of heroic legends, this was an achievement that surpassed the accomplishments of all previous Martial Gods.
If Yuki could put together a better Prosthetic Body.
But therein lay the problem.
Yuki couldn’t come up with a Prosthetic Body powerful enough to cross the First Heavenly Layer without alerting the government.
The wreckages of the warships in Recycling Station Town might yield some useful materials, but the large-scale Battleship Outer Armor couldn’t be utilized as Prosthetic Body Armor, since their performance requirements were different. There weren’t many usable components inside the wreckage either.
And if he were to steal from the government... A significant loss of parts capable of crossing the First Heavenly Layer would inevitably alert them.
The likes of Tao Enhai bringing a ton of high-grade materials and components was a one-time occurrence.
Yuki had to gather all the high-level martial experts he could.
Yuan Wenren had also been active for years for this cause, using the contact information left to Yuki by the Underground Pixiu, traveling everywhere to rally all the Heroes he could leverage.
The problem was that there was no reason for others to believe in his success.
In the past decade, "breaking into Paradox City" had been deemed an impossible mission. The local Heroes believed that even skilled individuals who attempted to storm it would simply be throwing away their lives.
After all, even the skillful Tenth Martial God had to turn back from the gates of Paradox City.
Unless Yuki revealed his "identity."
But, so far, aside from Yuki, only Hiroshi Matsushima and TX-0 knew Yuki’s true identity.
This was a move of desperation. The standard Yuki used to share this information was based on "the level of Inner Strength."
Since the hacker era began, hackers who skirted the fringes of the law were the people who valued information secrecy the most.
Yuki simply trusted Zhu Xinyu’s disciple, that Superman Zero.
Without revealing his identity, he couldn’t garner support.
But revealing his identity could increase the Risk of the operation by a hundredfold.
Yuki could only do his best to solicit help.
Still, Yuki had yet to secure a firm commitment.
More accurately, TX-0 had said that he needed to think it over.
Hiroshi Matsushima flatly refused, but also stated that if TX-0 truly had no choice but to get involved, he might "offer a little help."
This was already good news.
Subsequently, Yuki bought a course from Hiroshi Matsushima on the official website of the Iron Block Style Dojo.
Then, under the pretext of an "included service," he managed to wangle a room.
Eight’s image once again appeared in the corner of his eye: "It looks like this time might be good."
Yuki crossed his legs and leaned against the wall: "It’s a complete disaster. Who could have predicted that the operation three years ago would hurt and stir that old dog Hartman. Not making contact with Xinyu, it’s really bad."
"Actually, you shouldn’t have had any expectations," Eight maintained the same posture as Yuki: "Over these past two hundred years, Yuki has lived and died, yet Zhu Xinyu has been alive until today. She’s certainly more cautious than all the Yukis combined."
"If not for the Eighth Martial God’s Substitution Death, it would’ve been game over eighty years ago," Yuki sighed. "I can’t be at ease."
"But you have to admit, she’s stronger than ’we’ are. Though Yuki is the ’flag,’ she’s the support that keeps it flying," Eight said with a smile: "According to Zero, Xinyu actually wanted to come out and help during Nine’s fight. That’s pretty good."
The Eighth Martial God’s sacrifice had apparently had a significant impact on "Turing."
"Pretty good," Yuki nodded: "At least she’s still capable of changing her mindset. To be honest, I’m rather afraid that after all these years, her spirit has turned into that of a dead old woman."
In fact, the natural lifespan of a Benchmark Man is also several hundred years long, not to mention there are now many types of gene therapy that can reverse life stages. The shackles on the physical lifespan of humans had been broken.
But the problem lies in the spirit.
Yuki didn’t know if it was due to amnesia, but even though he was already a hundred years old before "The Only Defeat," his current mindset felt closer to that of someone in their twenties or thirties—at least he felt his own spirit was very young and full of vitality.
But from birth to death, Martial Gods generally live only a few short years.
Yuki’s mind was exceptionally young.
Yet he hoped he could share some common ground with Zhu Xinyu... at least a bit of shared language.
At the very least, not so foreign.
"One day, ’our’ minds will grow old too," said Eight.
"Let’s hope we get that chance," Yuki smiled, changing the subject: "Even Zero thinks Nine’s spirit might be ’broken.’ What do you think?"
"For Yuki, the accusation ’all these people have sacrificed themselves for your ideals’ isn’t valid at all. An Executioner represents a Tyrant in killing a Rebel, and then tells another Rebel ’it’s all your fault, if you hadn’t resisted, you wouldn’t have died’—who is killing whom? Who is the one firing the bullets? This might cause Yuki pain, but it shouldn’t shake Yuki’s spirit. This pain should transform into double the rage, waiting for the moment to be returned to the aggressor," Eight said decisively.
"But Nine’s condition is indeed wrong. If it were me..." Yuki suddenly pressed the back of his neck: "Even when I’m immobilized, ’Yuki’ would still find ways to resist. I wouldn’t shut off my Prosthetic Eye."
"So he was already shaken before he was brought in?"
"But why?"
"I can’t figure it out."
Native Yuki then asked, "On another note, if Nine has a True Personality Mask, can you really complete the necessary data collection within half an hour?"
"I should be able to. If an Internal master is willing to cooperate, that time could be reduced to a few minutes. But if that Internal master resists, it cannot be done." Eight countered, "Would you prefer Nine to be a person, or an AI?"
Native Yuki pondered for a moment: "I would actually prefer he were an AI. Data from AI is easier to collect."
And moreover, people shouldn’t be treated this way.
Yuki closed his eyes.
Native and Eight merged into one again.
"Alright, take a rest," Yuki said while stretching.
Although he no longer had the muscles that required stretching, Yuki retained the habits from his days as a Natural Person.
This was the home of Hiroshi Matsushima. With an external strength master and a Turing Disciple with powerful Inner Strength here, he could rest well.
Yuki once again dreamed of the past.
