Chapter 1578: Peril Lurks Everywhere

Chapter 1578: Chapter 1578: Peril Lurks Everywhere

Harry River’s throat moved slightly, and he couldn’t help but break into a cold sweat.

He had been to this place more than once!

Decades ago, when he was investigating Sutton out of curiosity, he deduced the location of the Overlord Blade.

Afterward, he unraveled part of the secret of the Overlord Blade.

At that time, Harry River regretted for the first time!

Getting caught up in such a mind-boggling secret makes it hard to remain unaffected.

Thinking it over, he decided to fake his death and disappear from the world.

He abandoned his prosperity and wealth, relinquished his fame!

Using the alias Harry River, he came to Town—

A city at the Northern Border, where he hid.

Harry River was proficient in deduction.

For these decades, he had continuously deduced his own fate!

It was painful for Harry River to have a weapon he couldn’t use.

Greed, everyone has it.

Harry River also wanted to become the King of the world.

To be the one who rules the world!

But he knew the odds of this were less than one in ten thousand.

Harry River didn’t want to die.

He wanted to live.

Coming to Town was Harry River’s lifelong effort, the best place he deduced.

Here, he could gain a new life!

He could stay alive!

Harry River stayed in Town for decades!

Though he was living poorly, he was at least still alive.

Even though he lived in constant fear, often checking if the Overlord Blade was still there.

But being alive still holds infinite possibilities.

So when Julius Reed found him and asked for the Overlord Blade, Harry River didn’t hold back and quietly told Julius Reed his secret!

Because Harry River knew that throwing away this hot potato as soon as possible was of great benefit to him.

The master was at least a decent person.

This proactive allegiance would lead to a good life.

For decades, Harry River had to come here every few days; he was really worn out.

He was very familiar with the cave.

Now!

The cave entrance was sealed!

Inside the cave.

There were actually footsteps?

Staring at the blurry figure in front of him, Harry River instinctively retreated.

"There’s someone else here?" Elaenor Wood also noticed the anomaly.

"Not necessarily human." Julius Reed stepped forward, blocking Harry River behind him.

Out of the three, Harry River was the weakest.

Tap! Tap! Tap!

The footsteps got closer.

The light began to illuminate the unexpected guest.

"Be careful! In all these decades, I’ve never noticed anyone else here." Harry River whispered behind them.

This unknown makes one extremely fearful!

"This is not human!"

Julius Reed took three consecutive steps forward and plunged the Hell Sword into the ground!

The firelight illuminated the ’person’ ahead.

It was a bear similar in size to a human!

A bear that could stand and walk!

They met eyes!

Julius Reed stood with his hands behind his back, less than three meters from the bear.

"It’s an enemy, not a friend!" Seeing the bear’s bloodthirsty gaze, Julius Reed leapt into the air!

He kicked directly!

Bam!

The bear had just raised its paws and, before it could strike down, was kicked flying by Julius Reed!

Boom!

A loud bang!

The bear crashed heavily into the cave wall.

With a muffled roar!

The bear got up again!

Julius Reed directly pulled out the sword from the ground!

Wheel it with hellfire instantly!

Clang!

A loud sound.

Julius Reed was slightly stunned.

Not as expected, the Longsword did not directly kill the wild bear!

The sword blade seemed to hit an iron plate, merely severely injuring the bear!

Hellfire, for the first time, did not burn the prey.

"Do you need help?" Elaenor Wood stood by Harry River’s side, constantly observing the battle.

"Protect Harry River well, don’t let him have an accident! He is a treasure!" Just as Julius Reed finished speaking, the furious bear charged over!

"Roar!"

The bear roared, its paw slammed down fiercely!

Clang!

Julius Reed raised his sword to meet it!

A spark burst forth from the clash!

"Really outrageous!" He drew the Great Zhou Lan Night Blade with his left hand, continuing to wheel both swords!

Clang! Clang! Clang!

The Longsword struck the bear, causing sparks to fly!

Taking advantage of the bear’s hurried defense, Julius Reed leapt into the air!

Landed behind the bear!

With a sharp grab!

Micah Will’s treasure ’Nine Heavens Thorn’!

Returning to his hand!

Julius Reed was somewhat surprised.

He knew the Nine Heavens Thorn was an artifact, but didn’t expect it to be so sharp!

Even the beast that the Great Zhou Lan Night Blade couldn’t cut could be pierced through!

The bear roared, turning to confront Julius Reed!

Raising its paws!

But before it could strike down!

It fell to the ground.

Silence!

The cave returned to silence!

Julius Reed bent down, inspecting the bear with the light from hellfire.

This bear was smaller in size compared to other bears.

Nonetheless, it had mighty force!

Not only did it not weaken but became more agile!

Hard to defend against!

The bear’s front claws were sharp and slender.

It seemed like long-term evolution had made the front claws unnecessary for walking, functioning fully as attack weapons.

Julius Reed squatted down, tapping the bear’s claw.

Like steel!

He took out the Great Zhou Lan Night Blade and fiercely pierced it down the bear’s body!

Clang!

The sword was like poking iron skin.

Julius Reed stirred hellfire, burning away the bear’s fur.

Revealing the skin underneath.

That skin turned out to be metal construction!

Precisely because of this metal layer, it was difficult to pierce through!

Julius Reed took out the Nine Heavens Thorn, inspecting it carefully.

Clearly, the material of the Nine Heavens Thorn was unique.

He took one and gently sliced the bear’s skin.

It easily cut through.

This increased Julius Reed’s curiosity about Micah Will’s artifact.

"What’s going on?" Seeing the bear killed, Elaenor Wood and Harry River hurried over to examine it.

"A false alarm!" Harry River patted his chest: "I thought it was someone, turns out it was a bear wintering here. Could it be a bear passing by that just happened to discover this cave?"

"Do you believe that yourself?" Julius Reed looked up at Harry River.

The latter scratched his head, quite helpless.

That statement surely couldn’t be believed.

Harry River was just consoling himself.

The entrance was tightly closed!

Julius Reed’s sword was powerful enough to shake open the hardened snow.

"This is no ordinary bear!" Elaenor Wood inspected it from the side, frowning slightly: "I’ve never seen a bear whose skin could withstand the Great Zhou Lan Night Blade."

"I haven’t either."

Julius Reed seemed to suddenly remember something, quickly reaching into his coat and pulling out the "Opening Sky Book."

He seemed to recall a page about something similar to a bear.

Indeed!

As he turned to that page!

The "Opening Sky Book" revealed the image of a bear.

Below it, there was a line of small text.

Diamond Bear.

Seeing the second row of characters, Julius Reed shut the book abruptly!

The description regarding the bear had one crucial point!

Living in groups!

"This compass should have been affected by the bear. I’ve wondered why it suddenly became inaccurate." Harry River took out his compass again to detect the location of the Overlord Blade.

But on it, the needle still spun wildly!

"The bear is already dead, what’s happening?" Harry River murmured.

"What kind of situation would cause the needle to keep spinning?" Julius Reed stood up, drawing his sword!

"Unless all around..." Saying this, Harry River suddenly raised his head!

Seeing a little green glow emerging from the surrounding darkness!

Those were eyes!
