Chapter 1479: Chapter 1479: Escape

“Earthquake?”

The guards were startled.

“Could also be an attack from The North Sea.” Someone signaled to the crowd to remain calm and wait for instructions from above.

The refugee camp guards rotated shifts day and night, ensuring there were always people on duty.

This place detained many of Swimming City’s key criminals; its defenses were undoubtedly tight.

Three Great Grandmasters, eighteen Grandmasters, over a hundred elite guards, and senior officials of the City Lord’s Mansion took turns guarding, ensuring absolute security here.

As expected.

Half a minute later, a senior official responsible for duty from the City Lord’s Mansion descended from upstairs hastily, carrying an arsenal box.

“Keep your eyes sharp! No matter who it is, if they try to leave, kill them immediately!” After issuing the command, the official adjusted his City Lord’s Mansion uniform and continued downstairs.

The refugee camp’s location was in the southwest corner of the City Lord’s Mansion.

To stage a jailbreak, one must first bypass the heavily fortified elite guard barracks of the City Lord’s Mansion.

The prisoners within were all locked away in extraordinarily reinforced rooms, making escape nearly impossible.

Once outside their cells, they would face swift punishment from the elite guard squads and Great Grandmasters.

Most often met with instant death.

Hagan Marsh opened his eyes, his fingers tapping incessantly on his thigh.

“What’s going on?”

“Someone outside is blasting the walls—it’s likely an attempt at a jailbreak! I suspect there’s a traitor within the City Lord’s Mansion!”

“Minister Leocadia has already led reinforcements to the site of the incident; you guys secure your zone and relax! This place is a fortress; no one can get inside!”

In the corridor outside the rooms, guards began exchanging information upon encountering one another, trying to gather more details.

It sounded more like people enjoying the spectacle than being seriously concerned.

After all, who would dare attack the prison established by the City Lord’s Mansion?

Boom!

Explosions erupted constantly from the exterior.

Chaos engulfed the corridor as the prisoners began shouting and screaming.

Half a minute later.

The sound of airplanes appeared out of nowhere.

Hagan Marsh moved like lightning, instantly darting to the wall of the outer periphery!

He pressed his body tightly against the wall!

Like a gecko!

“Hagan Marsh, what kind of trick are you playing?”

The guards continued to monitor the area. Detecting Hagan Marsh’s unusual behavior, they immediately issued a warning!

But Hagan Marsh clung tightly to the inner side of the wall, leaving the guards unable to see what was going on inside the prison.

Boom!

A deafening blast!

In the air.

A giant pointed iron hammer, about two meters in diameter, smashed vertically down from the rooftop!

Crash!

The three-story concrete prison was instantly obliterated into dust and debris.

From upstairs, a mutilated corpse slowly plunged downward.

Evidently, it was the prisoner who had been sleeping upstairs, struck by the iron hammer that shattered his body into pieces.

Below, there wasn’t even a scream.

Fully flattened.

Hagan Marsh kept his body tight against the wall, his feet standing on a narrow strip of exposed rebar less than twenty centimeters wide.

He stepped on the rebar and covered his mouth and nose with his clothing to avoid suffocating on the dust.

The violent impact had already distorted the structure of the building.

The door was similarly twisted.

Hagan Marsh held his breath before suddenly twisting his body!

Whoosh!

He slammed his fist against the door, forcing it open!

In front of him, the guard who had spoken moments ago lay on the ground, completely disoriented.

“I warned you! Your forehead’s darkened—you wouldn’t survive past today!” Hagan Marsh picked up the arsenal box on the ground, aiming it at the guard’s head: “Remember, I’m the boss, always your boss!”

Whoosh!

The arsenal box fired.

The guard’s body convulsed and died.

“Hagan Marsh is escaping—kill him!”

The sound of the arsenal box spread, instantly drawing the attention of nearby guards.

Hagan Marsh had the highest profile among the prisoners here!

Leap!

Faced with encirclement, Hagan Marsh jumped back into the room, clutching a rope tightly with both hands!

The rope had been lowered together with the iron hammer.

The moment he grasped the rope, his entire body was pulled upward at breakneck speed!

Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!

Below, a flurry of arsenal box shots followed.

But all hit the enormous iron hammer.

Several helicopters scattered in different directions, one of which had Hagan Marsh hanging beneath.

Taking a deep breath of fresh air, Hagan Marsh exerted force with his hands, finally climbing to the bottom of the helicopter, where someone helped him up.

“What took you so long?”

Sitting inside the aircraft was Marquis.

“Had to deal with some personal matters.” Hagan Marsh dusted himself off and extended his hand: “Gimme a cigarette.”

“Sure.”

The man retrieved a pack of cigarettes from his chest pocket and handed it to Hagan Marsh: “Before the ancient tomb is opened, I want to ensure the Two Kings and Four Ministers are completely erased.”

“Perfect timing; I’m planning my revenge too.” Taking the cigarette, Hagan Marsh lit it with Marquis’s already-lit one and asked wearily: “You’ve decided?”

“Yes.” Marquis’s voice was as hoarse as ever.

“I can’t figure you out.”

Hagan Marsh leaned against the airplane seat, looking at Marquis: “You had the chance to be a privileged heir, a puppeteer pulling strings of power, yet you chose to masquerade as a scrap dealer for over a decade. Could a life of luxury really compare to one of cold and hardship?”

As he spoke, he flicked the cigarette ash.

Waiting for an answer.

“I have greater ambitions. To achieve them, any sacrifice is worthwhile.” Marquis looked up, his eyes cold: “Aren’t you the same? If it hadn’t been for the explosion that wiped out the Cook Family’s miscanthus field in Ox Town, I doubt you’d have embarked on this path either.”

“I deceived the City Lord, but I didn’t account for destiny.” Hagan Marsh laughed bitterly: “The Divine Dragon Tripod—it will be mine! As for the City Lord and that woman, they must be kept alive!”

“Excellent.” Marquis nodded: “Once you take control of Swimming City, I’ll provide a suitable opportunity for you to eliminate the Two Kings and Four Ministers. You get the treasure; I get Swimming City!”

“You’re really willing to use your sister’s life to trade for all this?” Hagan Marsh flicked away his cigarette stub, glancing at the inferno below.

He vividly recalled his shock when he first discovered this supposed scrap dealer was none other than the Young Family’s long-dead heir, Ilario Young!

And the supposed mother of Ambrose Young turned out to be Ilario Young’s sister!

“I faked my death as leverage, hoping to force Gabriel Young to use the Young Family’s resources to deal a severe blow to the Cook Family, thereby sparking infighting among the Two Kings and Four Ministers. But unexpectedly, that woman endured humiliation and plotted something far longer-term.”

Marquis—or rather, Ilario Young—glanced at his watch and smiled faintly: “I even starred in a touching sibling drama, gifting her a watch before my ‘death.’ But knowing her character, she should have immediately gone to war with the Cook Family… Strange how she suddenly became so calm.”

“Dead means dead. As long as Gabriel Young survives, Ilario Young can only remain a ghost.” Ilario Young sounded weary: “I’ve been scheming for ten years before deciding to collaborate with you. Don’t let me down.”

“Do you know Xander Cook always loved calling me the Corpse Refiner?” Hagan Marsh sneered: “This is exactly my business! Wait for my signal; I won’t disappoint you.”

“Then I’ll be waiting.” Ilario Young closed his eyes, the fatigue evident.

“Shoot them down! Don’t let a single aircraft escape!”

Ground level!

A senior official of the City Lord’s Mansion commanded the guards responsible for anti-air guns.

“Minister Leocadia, all the ammunition is fake—someone must have replaced it!” A guard picked up an empty, weightless shell, completely flummoxed.

“Damn it!” Minister Leocadia clenched his fists tightly, his eyes bloodshot!
