Chapter 1431: Chapter 1431: Perish Together

On the pitch-black road at night.

Shay Bread stepped over corpses and unconscious martial artists, clutching a long saber, walking step by step toward Julius Reed.

Gabriel Young and the Young Family Grandmaster, weakened and powerless from the electric surge, could only watch the duel unfold, utterly incapable of helping.

Whoosh!

When the two were less than ten meters apart, Shay Bread ripped off the cloak draped behind him, a burning intensity flashing in his eyes.

“The blade in Shay Bread’s hands ranks among the top three under the heavens! But this blade is the most ordinary saber you’ll ever see.”

“Everything lies in the one who wields it, unmatched beneath the heavens! To die beneath my blade today, you won’t have been wronged.”

Having spoken, he stepped forward and swung his saber downward!

But it was a miss!

Swish!

Shay Bread reversed his grip and slashed again!

Julius Reed, his hands clasped behind his back, contorted his body at an impossible angle, dodging the blade once more!

Two consecutive misses, Shay Bread’s face turned as calm as still water!

He had just proudly boasted; this slap in the face came a little too swiftly.

“Keep going. Keep slashing.” Julius Reed spoke indifferently.

As he said this, the Dragon King Ring on his hand began to emit a crimson glow.

Evil Qi—it could turn people bloodthirsty!

If one’s body isn’t eroded by Evil Qi, it can actually be harnessed as a potent force!

Compared to Spiritual Power, Evil Qi is purer—it’s stronger!

But ordinary martial artists cannot withstand the corrosion of Evil Qi.

In a short span of hours or as long as two or three years, they would inevitably succumb to its torment and perish.

Back when Nathanael Warm embraced vengeance, he used his sect’s secret technique to descend into madness, becoming nothing less than a killing machine.

So what of mere martial artists?

Yet Julius Reed was different.

Within his body existed both Spiritual Power and Evil Qi!

At that moment, Shay Bread was no longer seen as human in Julius Reed’s eyes.

He had become a mass of extremely potent Evil Qi.

As long as he was slain, the Dragon King Ring would be immensely satisfied!

Swish!

In his rage, Shay Bread unleashed nine successive slashes!

In an instant, the air was filled with remnants of those blade shadows!

This technique had slain countless Grandmasters before!

And yet, all nine slashes missed!

Julius Reed sidestepped, seamlessly evading them again and again.

“Why won’t you fight back!” Shay Bread’s hands trembled slightly.

Nearby, Gabriel Young stared with wide eyes as well!

As someone from Swimming City, she knew full well how formidable Shay Bread was.

Being the top war champion under Adler Haw, his prowess naturally required no further elaboration.

But such a strong opponent hadn’t even grazed Julius Reed’s clothing after eleven slashes!

An utter humiliation!

“Draw your weapon!” Shay Bread gripped his saber tightly, his eyes fixed firmly on Julius Reed’s movements.

He could no longer afford any mistakes.

When martial artists duel, losing focus is the most fatal error.

Eleven consecutive misses—his mind raced and unsettled, leaving him unable to regain composure.

“To kill you, must I even use a weapon?”

Julius Reed stood unmoving, allowing Evil Qi to infiltrate his body.

From the very first strike, he had sensed how strong Shay Bread was!

Much like when he confronted Chris Tennysons in Rat Town, what Julius Reed said then still held true:

Martial arts practitioners amount to nothing more than agility and strength.

Shay Bread was dexterous; if he fought him head-on, even if Julius Reed managed to kill him, he would still be left drained.

The Azure Emperor’s ancient tomb was about to open, and Micah Will’s people had reappeared in Swimming City.

Saving strength was paramount.

The easiest way to kill Shay Bread would be to rely on Evil Qi!

“You call yourself a man? Can’t even fight back!” Shay Bread never landed a strike and tried provoking him instead.

“Sky Shatter Slash!”

He roared, swinging his blade single-handed!

The blade’s edge cleaved across the ground!

Boom!

The long saber’s arc lifted the street’s tiles in Swimming City!

Dust and shattered stone surged toward Julius Reed like a tidal wave!

Shay Bread wasn’t stopping!

He slashed thirteen times consecutively!

Thirteen bursts of blade energy shattered the air, blending into the flying debris, pulverizing the stone chunks into dust!

Bits of rubble now flew like daggers!

If anyone were struck, whether they died or not, they’d certainly lose half their life.

Finally.

Julius Reed opened his eyes once more!

His pupils turned blood-red, twin dragons swimming within his irises!

In an instant!

An overwhelming killing intent, like a celestial thunderclap, engulfed the skies above the Young Family!

As a peak martial artist, Shay Bread was the first to sense something amiss!

The killing intent was too thick—it made every pore on his body stand on end!

Boom!

As a deafening roar resounded.

The airborne stones directly exploded!

Amidst the dust.

Julius Reed slowly stepped forward.

For reasons unknown, as soon as Shay Bread laid eyes on his silhouette, a trace of fear washed over him!

“You didn’t disappoint me!” Seeing his opponent completely unscathed, Shay Bread clenched his saber tightly.

Julius Reed said nothing,

His gaze carried nothing but the look of a predator.

The Dragon King Ring on his hand flashed violently with purple light!

But something strange occurred: the Divine Dragon Tripod bound to Julius Reed’s waist began releasing wisps of faint white smoke, which seeped slowly into the Dragon King Ring.

The moment the white smoke touched the ring, its purple glow began to dim.

However, Julius Reed’s internal power grew even more robust!

The sliver of reason he had left now expanded—he could begin controlling his thoughts.

So.

Julius Reed stopped walking and inexplicably looked down.

This act fell into Shay Bread’s eyes as naked contempt!

“Slash!”

Shay Bread raised his saber with both hands and swung it forward!

A burst of blade energy tore through the air, splitting into hundreds or even thousands of fragments mid-flight!

The blade shards rained down like a deluge, seemingly unavoidable.

Julius Reed extended his right hand and raised his head.

Swish!

The Sword of Hell landed in his palm!

He swung forcefully forward!

Whoosh!

Hellfire transformed into towering flames, instantly incinerating the fragments!

In the dark night, Julius Reed stood alone, wielding the sword, like a messenger of the underworld, charging toward Shay Bread!

Clang!

Blade and sword collided!

Under the blackened skies, a burst of light once again erupted!

“Your saber isn’t ordinary.”

Julius Reed spoke coldly.

To withstand the Sword of Hell without breaking—it was no common blade!

“So you lied.”

“You’re right, your sword isn’t ordinary either!” Shay Bread’s mouth trickled a sliver of blood, his chest churning violently within.

“Again!” He roared, and the saber in his hand abruptly shattered!

When its outer layer fell away, a blade radiating a silver light was revealed!

“Blade of No Edge!”

Julius Reed narrowed his eyes, his tone icy: “Where did you get it?”

This was the same blade once wielded by Ian Jorden!

Ian Jorden…

“Speak!”

Julius Reed roared, his pupils once again blood-red!

If Ian Jorden had deceived him, then the whole world was mocking him!

“Words are pointless! If you have the skill, take it from me!” Shay Bread leaped into the air, his gleaming blade slashing downward furiously!

Faster!

Too fast!

As Shay Bread’s saber descended, it left behind only the faint trace of a shadow!

This Blade of No Edge was a gift from the City Lord to Adler Haw long ago, which Adler Haw then passed on to Shay Bread!

To showcase his prowess, Shay Bread had coated the Blade of No Edge in another layer of metal, publicly claiming to wield only an ordinary saber.

He hadn’t expected to reveal it today!

Swish!

He was fast!

But Julius Reed was faster!

Wrath caused Evil Qi to surge wildly!

Man and sword shot into the air, like meteors streaking past!

Thud!

Shay Bread landed on the ground.

Both knees had their kneecaps cleanly sliced away!

“Speak!”

Julius Reed advanced, sword in hand!

His vision blurred, his strides grew weighted.

That single strike had forsaken the last shred of reason within him.

Fear, dread, and a glimmer of resolve reflected in Shay Bread’s eyes!

“Return!”

Gabriel Young shouted.

But Julius Reed couldn’t hear her.

Evil Qi sealed away his senses, rampaging within his body!

“Come back! He’s risking it all for a final strike!”

Gabriel Young attempted to stand up, but she couldn’t move at all.

On the road.

Shay Bread lifted his head and laughed maniacally: “If I die, you cannot live!”

He gripped his saber with both hands and drove it into his own chest!

Pain!

The saber tore through flesh, yet Shay Bread remained indifferent!

Ignoring the blood flowing freely, his grip tightened even more!

Finally!

Clang!

Shay Bread yanked the saber free, throwing it to the ground.

From the wound,

A burst of pure white mist sprayed, striking Julius Reed square in the chest!

“See you in hell.” Shay Bread’s head slumped lifelessly.

But his face still bore a smile.

A dying Great Grandmaster’s final strike can unleash the Qi within their body, dragging their enemy down with them.

Thump!

Julius Reed collapsed on cue.
