Chapter 59: Fiery Like a Dragon

This roar was the “Sound-Breaking Shout” from the Iron Punishment Battle Guide, which Ji Yuan circulated with his own spiritual energy.

In fact, there was nothing special about it. It was just a technique to increase the volume of a voice as much as possible, but a roar from Ji Yuan’s mouth gave a majestic, thundering feeling.

Not only did the roar cause waves in the river below, but many villagers who were still dazed or who had just come out of their houses were suddenly taken aback. Some were just shaken, while others were even frightened to the point of falling on the ground.

All the dogs in the village were terrified and temporarily stopped barking.

Ji Yuan could see that the big snake in the river was obviously trembling, causing ripples in the river water. With this shaking, a demonic aura appeared on the snake. However, it was not too strong – at least, it was far weaker than Lu Shan Jun’s aura.

‘Very good, it really hasn’t become too powerful yet! ’

Ji Yuan could even see a hint of panic in the big serpent’s eyes. Now he felt much more calm. Momentum was something that grew for one person as the other lost. If people were afraid of someone, then naturally that person would be three times braver.

The merchant who was obsessed with the beauty was instantly awakened by his shout. Although he couldn’t see through the monster’s transformed figure, he could see the terrifying snake body on its lower half.

“Ah!!! A monster!”

The explosive power of a person struggling for his life should never be underestimated. Taking advantage of the opportunity as the big snake was frightened by Ji Yuan, he kicked his legs quickly in the water, like a girl who had just stepped on a big rat, and jumped off of the snake’s body and onto the shore.

“Hiss…”

The big snake was so afraid of Ji Yuan that it didn’t chase him. However, it seemed unwilling to give up. Its tail swept ashore and knocked the merchant down directly. He rolled and crawled in an attempt to escape.

“Help! Help!!!”

It was only then that Ji Yuan and the extremely frightened merchant could truly see the snake’s full size. Its body was as thick as a bucket, and was four meters in length.

Ji Yuan didn’t care whether this was a test for him or not. He was extremely agitated at the moment, and had been holding back a lot of anger. When he saw this nearly provocative scene, he immediately took action.

He wouldn’t go into the water to fight the big snake, but on land was a different story.

With a wave of his hand, a pile of dry firewood from a house floated up in front of Ji Yuan. He grabbed the firewood with a gesture like raising a sword, and jumped directly off of the roof, floating outside the fence. With Qinggong, his speed increased dramatically, and the movement capability of his body reached the extreme, almost instantly reaching the river.

As he danced the Wandering Dragon form, combined with the illusion technique, his figure slid like a meandering afterimage.

Compared to casting illusions directly in front of a monster, this kind of combination of reality and falsehoods should be more effective.

“Hiss…”

The snake’s tail swept towards Ji Yuan’s body with the sound of the wind, but it only passed through the afterimage, as if it had broken through a layer of foam. This probing action made Ji Yuan even more certain that, even though the large snake was scary, its reaction speed could not match his own.

In the next instant after evading twice, Ji Yuan’s real body flashed like a shadow behind the snake’s tail that had just swept to the side. Inside the sleeve of his right arm, which was carrying the wood sword, a bean-sized flame fluttered under the impact of the spiritual energy.

‘Snakes are of the Yin element, using the household lamps as a lure to control the people’s internal fire. Let’s see if you can block my sword! ’

Ji Yuan, who had been hiding in clumsiness until this moment, seemed to reveal his true self from the shadows that were chasing after his body from behind, the moment his sword swung. The whole piece of firewood “exploded” and caught fire, but the fire didn’t seem to burn Ji Yuan at all. Not even his sleeves were scorched.

The top of the burning firewood had become as sharp as the tip of a sword. With the momentum of his body, the sword rushed extremely fast, with intent as strong as a dragon.

The Dragon Sends Fire!

Recalling the last form of the sword dance in his courtyard…

“Haaaa!”

… he let out a shocking roar.

“Ssssss…”

The tip of the sword pieced into the flesh through the gaps between the snake scales. At the same time, the entire burning wooden sword turned to ashes. The endless flames mixed with sword intent were like a soaring dragon. In an instant, it broke into the body of the large snake through the gap created by the stab.

With the successful attack, Ji Yuan kicked off of the ground with a “bang!” at almost the same, making a small hole, and quickly retreated backwards. As he ran, he stretched out his left arm and grabbed the merchant by the belt.

The two of them, one like a flying Peng,1 and the other like a dead dog caught by an eagle, retreated dozens of steps away from the big snake in an instant.

“Hiss…”

“Bang… Bang…”

The serpent could no longer maintain its deception. Most of its body was thrashing wildly. Many villagers who had gathered around the fence could see with their naked eyes that the end of the snake’s tail had been stabbed by the sword, and a fiery red light shone through the scales, constantly rising up the snake’s body.

“Hiss…”

“Bang… Bang…”

The snake’s body flopped into the water, turning the water surface scalding hot and producing bursts of steam. Its struggle made the river surface surge with waves.

With a “Boom!” a small boat by the river was torn apart by the large, agonized snake.

Watching this scene, Ji Yuan took a deep breath in fear, thinking to himself that if his current body were hit like this, then he would be in trouble.

“Hiss… Roar!

The snake actually roared hoarsely from the pain, realizing that it still could not put out the fire in its body with the river. In this extreme situation, where its life was seriously threatened, the large snake in the river actually opened its mouth fiercely and bit down hard at a position slightly higher than where the tail ended on its body!

“Pfft… Crack!”

The sound of scales, blood, bones, and flesh being torn apart made everyone, including Ji Yuan, feel numb. The giant snake was so fierce that it bit off at least a quarter of its body, including its tail.

The river was instantly dyed red by snake blood, and the large snake didn’t dare to linger. He madly stirred up the riverbed to muddy the water, and fled downstream.

This scene happened in just a few seconds. Ji Yuan, the instigator, was unable to react in time.

“You evil creature! You actually cut off your tail to survive!”

Just as Ji Yuan was about to give chase, he stopped again. This creature was now no more than a trapped beast, and he was in the water, so his energy consumption would not be small…

Two seconds later, Ji Yuan shouted again.

“Where are the day and night patrols under the jurisdiction of the City God of Suiyuan County?”

His huge roar rolled in waves, echoing across the empty wilderness.

“A monster has appeared in the county, causing mischief and harming people. I hope you will show yourselves and arrest it as soon as possible!!!”

The loud shout spread far into the distance, and the sound waves echoed like the whistling wind.

“Show yourselves and arrest it… show yourselves and arrest it…”

Ji Yuan covered his chest to calm the remaining spiritual energy in his body that had been consumed excessively, and also suppressed his racing heartbeat. He had already performed beyond his level, this was all he could do!

. . .

At this moment, apart from the sounds of the water caused by the large snake’s hasty escape, the only thing left was that section of the snake’s tail, which was still glowing red and floating on the water’s surface, emitting bursts of steam.

The chickens and dogs all around, as well as the people from the village who had just gathered around the fence to watch the end, were all silent. It took a long time for them to recover from the huge shock.

“It’s a monster…”

“What a beautiful snake!”

“Hey! It’s by the river…”

“He saved the merchant’s life!”

“It’s fortunate that a master passed by, otherwise our village would be in danger!”

“What do you mean, passing by? He stayed here last night and was received by Old Xu!”

“Did this expert just call for the City God’s underworld messengers?”

“I don’t know…”

“Hey, don’t go out, don’t disturb the master’s practice!”

……

“Woof woof woof… Woof woof woof… “

“Woof woof woof… “

The domestic dogs in the village rushed out at this moment, squeezing through the gap in the half-open fence door. They ran to the riverbank and barked wildly at the river.

Ji Yuan slowly adjusted his state to suppress his excitement, and looked at these dogs with a bit of laughter, as if to say, ‘what were you guys doing up until now?’

After a while, perhaps realizing that the fight was really over, a brave villager finally opened the wooden door in the fence and came out.

Just as the village chief was pulling Old Man Xu, who had woken up, over to chat with Ji Yuan, Ji Yuan’s expression changed and he looked towards the other side of the river. Two sinister shadows crossed the river, approaching.

Ji Yuan finally breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of the official robe.

When the two underworld messengers passed by, all the dogs by the river whimpered and ran away. The people around them also felt the chill.

The Yin messengers stopped ten feet in front of Ji Yuan and bowed to him together.

“The night patrol under the jurisdiction ofthe City God of Suiyuan County greets this immortal!”

That section of the snake’s tail, which was still glowing red, was so conspicuous that no one could ignore it, let alone determine what kind of magical method had caused the injury.

Ji Yuan didn’t wait for them to ask anything, he just spoke directly and quickly explained the situation.

“Tonight, a snake demon appeared in the river in front of the village, trying to absorb the man’s flesh and blood by deceiving them into offering themselves as a sacrifice. I happened to be staying in the village, and when I noticed this, I attacked it angrily. However, I didn’t expect that the demon would cut off its tail to survive after being hit by my sword. I hope you will report this to the City God of Suiyuan County as soon as possible, and take action to annihilate this beast!”

The two eunuchs bowed again at a 90-degree angle.

“Thank you, Immortal, for saving the people of Suiyuan County, and for giving us the opportunity to make amends. We will kill the monster before it escapes from Suiyuan’s jurisdiction!”

After speaking, the two underworld messengers disappeared in an instant. One went downstream, and the other went to the far side of the river, which was probably in the direction of the capital of Suiyuan County.
