Chapter 96 - 96 68 Kantadar Kingdom
96: Chapter 68 Kantadar Kingdom 96: Chapter 68 Kantadar Kingdom Leading the equally listless horses, Leon and his companions once again set foot on Kantadar soil.
Glancing at the majestic large ships in the distance, his gaze had been consistently drawn to those black-sailed giants ever since before they landed.
Compared to the few oddly shaped large ships moored in the port, the Orland merchant ship that carried Leon and his two companions seemed nothing more than a shabby little tub.
The big ships bore black flags with a golden one-eyed pattern at their center.
But even when asking Azeryan, the usually knowledgeable noble’s son, about the meaning of the black and gold flag, he shook his head cluelessly.
He didn’t know what country the emblem on the flag represented.
It was certainly not the style of Kantadar.
After surveying from a distance for a long time, Leon withdrew his gaze.
He then looked toward the Kantadar Soldiers patrolling the docks in pairs and threes, as well as the sprawling buildings in the distance, which didn’t look much different from those of Orland cities.
Before departing this time, he had thought about how much difference, and how much similarity, there was between the fierce Kantadar people and the Orland and Seryan.
The “Orland” and “Seryan” Kingdoms, without a doubt, belonged to the “Felu people” both in bloodline and culture.
This included the central continent nations that Leon had only heard of, such as “Dinexion” and “Orelia,” which were the same.
The Felu people were clearly a nation with a wide footprint.
Since awakening, Leon had also encountered many Kantadar who spoke the Uria Language.
Those Kantadar Noble Knights who spoke a foreign culture’s language almost looked no different from the Felu people at first glance, if one ignored their human-faced sculpted helmets and some distinctive decorations.
The attire of the ordinary Kantadar Soldiers was even more eclectic.
Some looked identical to the Felu people, while others bore the completely distinct nomadic weaponry and Armor of the Felu style.
The variety of appearances in this Kingdom was simply a large, mixed jumble.
As for the Kantadar civilians.
He had been constantly observing the residents on the streets as he entered the city.
Honestly, if they weren’t speaking the Uria Language and changed into the same clothes, Leon couldn’t distinguish these people from the Orland people and the Seryan at all.
Fortunately, before this journey, Azeryan had already adequately tutored the two “illiterates” on the peculiar reasons behind this Kingdom’s oddity while teaching him and Lokhak the language.
Tracing back to the earliest recorded times, there were many Felu culture Kingdoms on this land called Kantadar.
During that period, “Orland” and “Kantadar” didn’t exist yet, and the Western Continent was fragmented into small states, still in an era of conflict.
Back then, these two regions, north and south, were not demarcated as clearly on maps as they are now.
However, as the Urians, a new variable, rose in the south and swept northward, conquering all the small Felu Kingdoms within the current bounds of “Kantadar,” this land embarked on a different path than other areas.
The original culture of Kantadar’s land was probably brutally violated by the Urians from that time on.
During the Urians’ most powerful period, they once occupied the birthplace of the Felu Nation and invaded Seryan from both the west and the south.
Azeryan didn’t know too much about the history of the Orland Kingdom.
But he remembered the recorded history of Seryan very clearly.
All while “Orland” and “Kantadar” had not yet unified into nations, the “Seryan Kingdom,” under the leadership of the Holy Sun Church, was already resisting the Urians.
Seryan was an ancient kingdom that witnessed the rise of the mighty Urians and its subsequent shattering.
The allied forces of the Western Continent’s nations thwarted the Urians’ conquest and ultimately reclaimed the ancestral lands of the “Felu people,” successfully restoring their country.
However, it wasn’t the Felu alliance’s direct resistance that completely drove the Urians back south.
Instead, it was the stab in the back from the uprising on the “Kantadar” land, conquered for over a century.
Several forces tore apart the Urians’ rule over this land, and the rising new kingdoms united the surrounding Felu nations, pushing the Urians back to the steppes.
Of course, what all the Felu nations that helped this land did not expect was, perhaps due to being under Urian cultural domination for too long, the newly born Kantadar kingdoms actually inherited the aggressiveness from Urian culture.
An outstanding first king swept aside his rivals, establishing the current “Kantadar Kingdom,” and quickly began clashing with neighboring kingdoms.
The Seryan Kingdom, too, was betrayed by Kantadar.
…Actually, “Rolannar Holy Land City” was initially within the territory of Seryan and not on the border.
Why it became a border town before its fall is naturally the bitter tears of the Seryan Kingdom.
However, when Leon first heard this, he was somewhat surprised.
If one talks about the history of dynasties’ founding, the Kantadar Kingdom was actually much older than the seemingly more cultured Orland Kingdom.
In any case, the countries of the Western Continent entangled themselves in a cycle of betrayal and alliance through blood and fire for hundreds of years, all the way to the present.
The irony is that, after hundreds of years of fighting and killing, the present-day Kantadar Kingdom has thoroughly mixed with the Urian people again.
The vast Hired Cavalry troops galloping across Kantadar lands now contain countless Urians.
Indeed, it was not noticeable, as the difference between the Urians and Felu people is only cultural, and racial differences…
from Leon’s perspective, seem minimal.
The three walked the streets filled with jabbering languages, searching for an inn.
As a result of Azeryan’s repeated crash training, Leon and Lokhak could now barely understand some Urian language.
However, they were still unable to converse in long sentences and couldn’t hide their accent.
But they found that there were far more foreigners speaking with various accents in Western Port than they had imagined.
The odd Urian accent of Leon and Lokhak, in this far west coastal town distant from Seryan, among a mix of foreign traders, was not conspicuous.
Still, the task of negotiation was honestly left to Azeryan, who had an authentic accent.
The three intentionally chose an inn crowded with exotic traders.
No sooner had they settled their luggage than they began trying to collect information about the local Felcon family.
With enough drink money to pave the way, they learned from passing sailors that the wealthy Felcon family indeed regularly purchased numerous slaves through various channels to serve their family’s castle and estate, which was no secret.
Especially in recent years, with the arrival of those mysterious black-sailed ships, the Felcon family’s demand for slaves expanded several times over.
The mysterious foreigners on those black-sailed ships seemed to have considerable interest in the slave trade as well.
Hearing this news, Leon’s heart couldn’t help but sink.
If Lokhak’s sister had been sold to some unknown Otherworld overseas country, then finding her again would be as difficult as reaching the heavens.
The expressions on the faces of Leon and his companions became strained for a long time, but eventually, they cheered up once again.
After all, rather than guessing blindly, they should first try to make contact with someone inside the Felcon family.
As for the method to infiltrate the castle…
When he learned that Count Felcon’s son was about to have his wedding soon, Leon couldn’t help but feel fortunate that the armor robe and Seal Ring of Baron Kantadar he had brought along, initially for leveraging recognition, might come in handy.
