Chapter 781: Chapter 366: The More Things Change, the More They Stay the Same (Part 2)

Not wanting to waste more ammo, Leon put down the rifle he was holding with one hand, gazing at the Corpse Ghosts attracted by the gunfire but shot in the head by Olivia and himself with precision before they could approach, he felt a pang of emotion in his heart....

In his past life, he had only experienced firearms at a civilian shooting range once, and his aim was poor enough to barely hit a bird. In this life, after less than a day of handling a gun, he had become a sharpshooter capable of deciding the bullet’s landing point at will within effective range.

He truly wondered, if he could return to the original realm, whether these firearms could still be used.

With the precision of a Spellcaster’s material perception, relying on the alchemy equipment in the Helarn Dwarves and Mage Tower’s workshop, it wouldn’t be difficult for Kovis and himself to replicate bullets with the same precision by hand, although the production efficiency may be somewhat low.

But the internal physical mechanical structure of these firearms and, most importantly... the gelatinous explosive inside the polymer shell, whether it could still function under the laws of the plane where the Western Continent is located, is a question.

Even the Armor with simple basic physical structure that the two of them wore was incompatible with the environment; the more intricate the machinery, the greater the possibility of malfunction.

Leon shook his head, temporarily setting aside the beautiful fantasy of wielding firearms and shouting "Times have changed" at the enemy; now was not the time to think about such things.

Leon holstered the handgun on his armor’s waist holster, hanging the different types of grenades, reloaded the rifle to full capacity, slung it over his back, and left the civilian house with the girl, searching for vehicle energy on the surrounding streets.

The local technological products of this realm did not just lack reliance on electricity, but even the vehicles did not run on gasoline.

For the captured vehicle, using Magic Power to extend inside and explore, he only found a container that seemed to store some kind of coolant, but there was no "fuel tank" for liquid fuel, and after following the power structure and analyzing it for a while, Leon finally, with some guesswork, discovered the solid energy source located in the car’s rear shell trough.

Finding no energy supply structures similar to gas stations, Leon had no choice but to lead Olivia through the town, prying open every abandoned vehicle they could find to search.

Raising Garner, he easily pried open the energy recess of a car’s rear shell, and shook his head in disappointment, another empty car.

He tilted his head to look at Olivia, who was holding her gun and watching their surroundings vigilantly. Suddenly, he thought that his little lion, clad in Gothic plate armor and holding an automatic firearm, looked every inch like a valiant and heroic "battle nun".

As he mused over this, Leon suddenly noticed Olivia closing her eyes to listen, as if she had perceived something, and suddenly raised her rifle, pointing toward the gloomy sky, issuing a warning to him.

"There are Flying War Beasts approaching this town."

Leon was stunned for a moment, then quickly turned his gaze to the direction Olivia’s gun pointed. Even though the distance was quite far and visibility was low due to the dim light, he quickly spotted the shadow.

"It’s a helicopter." Leon’s heart tightened, but he couldn’t determine whether it was friend or foe.

"Unless it lands, there’s no way our guns can threaten it." Leon raised his hand, pressing down Olivia’s gun barrel, and quickly led the girl back to their previous parking spot.

He quickly weighed the situation and decided that regardless of whether the helicopter had found them or not, they had to drive away as soon as possible.

If it was a pursuer sent by the Vampires, there was no telling how many of the local Bloodline army followed behind it.

Olivia opened the car door and ducked into the back seat.

Leon originally intended to fit the lengthy Garner through the car’s rear window but changed his mind.

He steeled his heart, no longer caring if he might damage the Magic Wand. After months, he activated the transmutation Magic Technique, transforming the Magic Gun into an invisible elemental state.

Seeing Garner smoothly transform into the atmosphere within the Different Plane, Leon felt somewhat reassured, quickly getting into the driver’s seat, driving the vehicle along the main road, speeding towards the town’s interior.

"Is it chasing us?" Leon, maneuvering the robust vehicle rapidly through the avenue, asked without looking back.

In the back seat, Olivia laid against the rear window, scanning the gloomy sky, but the engine noise of the iron vehicle interfered with her hearing. Frowning, she glanced around the cabin, discovering a sunroof handle on top; she immediately stood up, popped open the sunroof, and protruded her upper body out, holding her rifle.

"It’s still circling there, not following us..." Olivia retracted her body, responding to Leon.

Leon relaxed a bit; perhaps they had moved fast enough, the opponent hadn’t discovered them yet.

However, after speeding for a few minutes, just as they were about to leave the town from the other side and head onto the highway, he suddenly saw, at the edge of his vision, a row of military vehicles blocking the road ahead.

Before he could respond, his battle instincts alarmed him immediately.

Seeing a death trajectory swiftly shooting towards him, Leon immediately ducked and tilted his head.

Almost simultaneously, before the sound of shattering reached his ears, the front windshield was pierced, forming a bullet hole in the web-like cracks, and the headrest of the driver’s seat burst open, stuffing flying.

Facing this deadly sniping head-on, Leon was both shocked and enraged. If not for his battle instinct, even he could not dodge such bullet speed, with the Body Technique yet to cover his head, one bullet to the head would be fatal!

But at least now it could be confirmed, the visitor was an enemy, not a friend.

"—Counterattack! Olivia!"

Leon floored the accelerator and charged forward, opening the rear windows on both sides, unleashing his Golden Lion Knight.

Seeing from the rearview mirror the girl leaning out with her gun from the right side, he instinctively maneuvered the car’s direction to angle the body.

With a few muffled bursts, three bullets flew out from the bumpy vehicle’s side, fired from Olivia’s gun chamber.

Two bullets screeched past the curvature of the military vehicle’s door at the checkpoint, drilling into the eye sockets of the soldiers holding their guns, waiting for their targets to enter range.

Bullets penetrated skulls, causing the two men’s brains to explode like shattered coconuts.

On the rooftop, the sniper lying behind the gun shield armor likewise reflexively jerked his head back uncontrollably.

The bullet, swept through the gun shield’s gap, was carried by tangible fury, penetrating the sniper’s face.

It was just the start; Olivia’s gun barrel adjusted slightly during the rapid dash, and in the next instant, gunfire continued to burst forth.

Death trajectories flew towards the multiple military vehicles at a distance beyond the rifle’s accurate range.

Blossoms of blood spectacularly bloomed behind the intercepting soldiers’ heads.

"****!**!"

The squad commander beside the military vehicle at the back, horrified, watched as soldiers holding guns at various tactical positions fell back continuously, furiously roaring with rage.

The heavy weapon operator on the vehicle’s roof crouched fearfully behind the gun shield, preemptively squeezing the trigger, spraying suppressive fire aimlessly forward.

In the rattling gunfire, a few soldiers, heedless of orders to preserve the target’s body, followed the commander’s request, carrying a portable rocket around to the side, locking onto the rapidly approaching vehicle.

A few dull thuds; the portable missiles streaked upwards, trailing tail flames, pursuing with astonishing speed.

Yet, just two hundred meters from the vehicle, the missiles transformed into shrill, sky-covering explosions.

Leon sharply maneuvered the steering wheel, dodging the machine gun’s barrage coming from the front.

The missile-intercepting Olivia quickly withdrew from the side, climbing back into the rear seat, standing on the sunroof, and gunfire erupted again. As she emptied the clip, the rooftop machine gun up ahead finally went silent.

Dropping the empty clip, Olivia’s hand swiftly attached a new magazine; her rapidly processing mind, imbued with superhuman vision, scanned ahead for any enemies daring to reveal themselves.

Thirty rounds, twenty-five enemies shot dead in one blow, no enemy dared to expose themselves for retaliation.

And Leon, at full throttle, had already driven the vehicle to within less than a hundred meters of the enemies.

"Prepare to jump! Kill them all, we’ll take another ride!" Locking the steering, Leon shouted.

Drawing the rifle from his back with his right hand, he and Olivia, front and back, leapt out of the vehicle a second before it crashed.

BOOM!

The roaring car struck the blocking military vehicle with a jolt, and among the sky’s metal debris and explosive flames, Leon’s heavy steel boots abruptly landed on the enemy’s vehicle roof, causing the whole car frame to sink.

Gazing at the pale faces hurriedly raising their guns, the Black-armored Knight showed a cruel smile at the slow movements of the Bloodline enemies here.

Engaging in close combat with a Knight of Valor like himself meant the death knell for these Exotic Realm Bloodlines nearby.

Beyond seven steps, his gun was fast.

Within seven steps, his fist was faster than the gun.
