Chapter 738: Chapter 345: Such a Lovey-Dovey Couple

Daybreak arrives, the search within the Royal Palace has yet to conclude, but the feudal lords under control and the summoned courtiers have already gathered in the grand hall.

The sight of Crown Prince Eric sitting on the throne, dressed not in the attire a regent should wear during an emergency, along with the great nobles summoned earlier, flanking the throne sides, immediately made the latecomers aware of the King’s predicament.

When the court officials solemnly announced the assassination and demise of Lydwen III, the nobles still showed shock and uproar over the King’s passing.

Leon wondered how Uncle Brian at home would react upon knowing the Old Dragon had died and his late master’s revenge was completed…

Collectively, the nobles swore allegiance to the new Orland Monarch. Though the enthronement and declaration ceremonies were simplified and expedited, they still lasted from morning till afternoon.

Within mere days, first was the uprising in the Royal City, then the turmoil in the Royal Palace, the King’s death and the new ruler’s succession, too many changes needed adaptation by the courtiers, especially the ongoing state affairs left by Lydwen III to be handed over to the new king.

After the hall’s ceremony dispersed, Leon equally hoped to meet with King Eric soon to speak with him.

He previously had a fairly good impression of Ines’ straightforward elder brother’s words and deeds, but after all, with the fall of Lydwen III, his mission to select Magic Apprentices and cultivate Court Mages, it was uncertain when it would officially begin.

Leaving the hall, Leon smoothly followed Ines’ silhouette.

The Little Princess heard footsteps and turned to see Leon.

The earlier annoyance from her changed-tempered Brother was quickly alleviated.

The young girl, accompanied by Agatha, slowed her pace.

The two promptly arrived at the palace adjacent courtyard for conversation.

Leon directly asked for help: “Ines, can you manage to help me find something in the Royal Palace right now?”

The nobles’ house arrest order hadn’t been lifted, hence he dared not act on forbidden grounds to find the “Monster Card Callisto” lost “last night” within the palace.

Thinking of this, Leon felt odd, for in his perspective, he had lost that card for nearly two months now… not even considering the dreamlike, fragmented memories in his mind.

“Certainly, what is lost?” Ines blinked and asked.

Given their current relationship, Leon naturally had no need to conceal anything from his future wife, he directly pulled out the Treasure Card “Boiling Heart” from his pocket.

“It’s a card-shaped Magic Artifact similar to this, except the image is of a Horror Mountain Bear.”

“Is that… the Magic you used to summon the War Giant Beast on the battlefield?” Ines curiously looked at the exquisite card in Leon’s hand.

Refined and gorgeous shiny objects, naturally attract girls, she was no exception.

Seeing the girl’s eyes sparkling with interest, Leon simply handed her the card.

“This thing looks extremely valuable, I fear others might secretly take it away upon finding it, and I can’t go searching now. Remember I said ‘last night’ in the courtyard where I summoned the giant bear to cover our retreat, it might’ve been lost around there.”

Ines played around examining the three-dimensional card, memorizing its look, then nodded: “I’ll declare it as a loss of my personal treasure to have the imperial guard search for it.”

Having said that, she returned the card to Leon, raised her eyes and said: “Did you ask my father for Ancient Mithril to make such Magic Treasure?”

Leon raised an eyebrow, frankly replied: “Indeed so, how did you guess?”

“I didn’t hear of you summoning the Bear Monster during the Battle of Ustato, but it appeared frequently during the Undead War. You’re not one to let warriors die unjustly just to hide a trump card, so evidently before my father rewarded you with Moonfall Silver for your meritorious service, you didn’t have that Magic Card in your hand, right?” Ines smiled.

She cast a glance towards the distant Forbidden Guard in the courtyard, leaned closer to Leon, signaling him to lower his head.

Leon, puzzled, inclined his ear.

Ines unfurled her fan to shield, whispered softly to Leon: “How much Moonfall Silver do you still need?”

Leon felt a jolt in his heart, his eyes sparkled instantly.

He urgently replied in a low voice: “As much as possible, the more the better! Can you get it for me?”

Ines’ lips curved lightly.

Her Brother’s impatient, domineering pressure had disgusted her; a good retaliation was only fitting for her.

It’s just right, with father’s departure, Brother’s recent accession left him ignorant of Capital affairs, she had ample chance to manipulate the Alchemy Guild.

“…Just wait for a surprise~” Ines confidently folded the velvet fan, her expression insouciant.

Looking at the delighted Little Princess… Leon was ecstatic inside.

If not for Olivia waiting for him, his guilty conscience would have him wanting to embrace Ines and give her two hearty kisses.

If the Moonfall Silver issue could be resolved, he could summon a cart of bread people anytime, no longer fearing the shameful predicament faced as on the Royal Palace night, what’s more to its miraculous effect on saving important people.

But amidst the joy, Leon suddenly recalled another matter.

Raising his right hand, he invoked Magic Power to manifest the Sun Wheel on his hand, hesitantly asked: “Should I reinsert that sword back?”

Knowing Leon meant the Ancestor’s Sun Holy Sword, Ines thought for a moment, then asked: “Could you try transferring the sword to me or someone else, just as Miss Olivia transferred it to you before?”

Leon scratched his head: “I haven’t tried, but give me your hand.”

Ines raised her hand, allowing him to hold it.

Leon focused his mind, attempting to move the Demon Rune towards Ines.

Yet the flicker of the Sun Wheel on his hand merely lasted a moment, with no further response.

“Seems, it doesn’t work,” Ines sighed.

Hence she cautiously advised: “You’d better carry it forever; since neither you nor Miss Olivia can use it, were you to reinsert it, next time should it be exploited to cripple the Royal Palace…

Even worse, if others manage to activate it, altering past and future through Magic, we might unknowingly face a world changed… the hidden threat is terrifying. In my view, the Holy Sword being with you and Miss Olivia is safer for everyone.”

Ines helplessly smiled again, focused on Leon: “Besides, the Ancestor’s Sword was indeed a hereditary treasure passed in my father’s dynasty, now returning the sword to Olivia cannot even count as restitution.”

The girl muttered internally… especially no matter how she viewed it, she still…

Leon pondered, being inevitable anxious: “But Wisemar saw me wield the Holy Sword, he was captured alive and imprisoned. What if His Majesty Eric discovers the Holy Sword missing, and asks about the scene of that night from him, what then?”

Ines, however, was not much worried.

“It’s alright, you merely need to insist on not knowing the sword’s whereabouts. If my Brother inquires, just ambiguously blame the Athiasians.

Anyhow, the sword is invisible in your hands. Met is dead, only you, I, and Wisemar witnessed last night’s courtyard battle. With coordinated testimony, it’s improbable Brother would trust the ‘slander’ of the treasonous assassins against loyal Kingdom officials.”

Leon nodded, it made sense, though he didn’t rescue the King, he’d still have the merit of saving the Princess and taking down the two culprits.

Such a magnanimous and straightforward old Brother like Eric wouldn’t likely place faith in accusations from his father’s murderers and betrayers.

Honestly speaking, he also hoped to keep the Holy Sword.
