Chapter 734: Chapter 343 SSR_2
“Where is Prince Rickto? Is he alright?”
“I apologize, I don’t know. The people who went to check on the members of the royal family have not yet returned to report,” replied the Dusk Blood Guard.
Ines squinted her eyes, said no more, and turned to leave with Leon.
Just outside the main hall’s walls, Leon was unsure whether Ines would take him to her sleeping quarters or to the Twilight Hall when suddenly an eagle’s cry pierced the night.
In the corridor, the tense imperial guards all looked upward.
On the tops of surrounding towering spires, the crossbows slowly turned, aiming at the hazy figure flying through the dark sky.
Leon sensed the approaching presence of the Death Claw through their companion bond and shouted urgently, “Don’t shoot! It’s my Griffin!”
Stopping the guards from raising their crossbows, Leon walked towards the Griffin fluttering its wings as it descended.
The gusts under the massive beast’s wings made the flames of the corridor’s lighting dance wildly.
“Leon!”
A figure leapt down from the Griffin’s high saddle.
Leon felt a surge of joy upon hearing the familiar, affectionate voice.
However, he noticed the bandaged-faced Olivia seemed to be carrying someone by the collar, a limp silhouette?
Leon squinted to examine closely.
The person his wife was holding turned out to be the escaping Wisemar?
Now, though, the Warlock Master appeared unconscious, limp as mud.
As soon as Olivia’s feet touched the ground, she dropped the suspicious person she’d been dragging, and rushed eagerly towards Leon, directly embracing him.
Bumping into him with full force, Leon encircled her body, taking a few steps back to steady himself after Olivia’s emotional hug.
Feeling comforted, for the first time he felt his wife’s embrace rather than her fist welcoming him, how wonderful…
However, sensing the girl’s shivering in his arms, the words he wanted to say paused midway.
“I’m sorry… I’m sorry…”
Olivia’s sobs were like a young beast.
Leon didn’t know why she was apologizing, so he merely stroked her back neck and held her tighter.
…
They arrived at the Twilight Hall in the royal palace’s side hall.
It was already past midnight, and the brightly lit hall was filled with nobles and knights of all sizes, like they were holding a midnight ball.
The atmosphere was a bit stifling, nobles whispered to each other, their secretive murmurs were far from the mood of a banquet.
Not only here, but the Royal Palace Guards categorized everyone in the palace into royal family household, noble lords, and palace servants, gathering them in three separate side halls, sealing all passages and back doors tightly with Forbidden Guard Knights.
Though the arrangement was called protective custody, it was essentially a soft imprisonment to await further investigation and discussion at dawn.
The nobles present didn’t express much dissatisfaction, after all, the chaos in the palace was significant, and everyone could understand the palace’s cautiousness given the urgency of the situation.
Ines followed the Forbidden Guard to the area where the royal family members were before entering the hall.
Leon held Olivia’s hand, glanced at the Third Princess’s back silhouette, then looked at his wife beside him, feeling a pang of guilt.
Although Olivia in front of him knew nothing yet, he was aware this matter couldn’t be hidden from her.
Obviously, now wasn’t the right time to discuss such issues.
Leading her to sit in a corner chair of the Twilight Hall, Leon quietly asked, “Why did you rush into the palace in the middle of the night?”
Given Olivia’s status, creating such a commotion entering the palace at this critical juncture was highly sensitive.
Especially as she caught Wisemar with unfortunate timing along the way; if Lydwen summoned her afterward, it would be another trouble.
Nevertheless, fortunately, Ines, who already knew the truth, was there to cover for him, hopefully preventing too many complications.
Olivia tightly clutched Leon’s fingers, seemed apprehensive, lowered her head, “I had some… very real strange ‘nightmares’, dreamed of many things as if experiencing them myself. When I woke, I went to the balcony, only to find disturbance faintly coming from the palace direction. Concerned for your safety, I then rode Death Claw to find you.”
“Nightmares…?”
Leon’s heart skipped a beat.
“Yes.” Olivia raised her eyes to Leon, nodded softly, yet under the current lighting, the girl clearly saw the side of Leon’s face still with some remaining swelling, paused in surprise.
Wasn’t it… a dream?
Olivia raised her hand intending to touch.
Just then, the voices of Kovis and Lokhak slightly interrupted her action.
Leon heard the call, looked in the direction, saw Acro and Lokhak quickly approaching.
Relieved to see his friends safe, Leon stood to welcome them, feeling completely at ease.
“Leon, what exactly happened? Where did you go earlier?” Lokhak scratched his head still clueless about the situation.
Waking up to find himself in the same room as nobles visiting the palace, with the door locked from the outside, without a trace of Leon.
After kicking open the door, amidst the confusion with equally puzzled palace guards, they were brought here by the arriving imperial guards.
Leon chuckled wryly, refrained from mentioning his trips three years into the future or possibly over a thousand years into the past, he shook his head relievedly, “It’s a long story, Met might have colluded with the Athiasians, using… some magic means to render everyone in the palace unconscious, no idea what their sinister intentions were, but no worries, I likely thwarted their plans in time.”
