Chapter 724: Chapter 337: Choosing Destiny_2

This is also one of the reasons he chose to disappear from Olivia’s sight on his own and not disturb her anymore.

Recalling the gradually clearer past, Leon closed his eyes.

A future where he would part ways with Olivia by just a tiny margin, he would never accept…

Next day.

Leon did not don his armor again but simply dressed neatly, waiting in the military residence for the message from the envoy sent to negotiate at Kalantha Fortress.

Yet, from the early morning, facing Little Ines’ dangerous gaze, as if with some morning temper, he felt as if he was sitting on pins and needles.

Several times he tried to temporarily avoid the sharp edge, but each time he was pressed back into the chair from both sides.

“…Mr. Leon, you said not to return, and indeed you didn’t return for the whole night. Didn’t you… have many words to tell me?”

Ines sat beside him, her elegant pose with arms crossed and legs perched couldn’t hide the impatience of her youthful fingers tapping her arm, her squinted smile revealing a clearly audible grievance.

As she spoke, glancing at her “self” serenely savoring tea, a deep inexplicable irritation rose in her heart.

Should it be called repulsion of the same kind, or her distaste for the smugness in her future self’s eyes, even facing Miss Olivia in the past, she never felt this stifled.

Queen Ines sat composed and lifted her gaze, smiling meaningfully: “~Li Ang indeed spoke with me all throughout the night, many, many things… Is there any problem?”

Princess Ines’ brows twitched, she smiled sweetly at her words which hid thorns: “Can you avoid speaking rashly? I don’t have the habit of ‘talking to myself’.”

Queen Ines put down the teacup, her gaze not as gentle as last night before her husband, loftily provoking herself: “Oh? Then why doesn’t ‘myself’ obediently shut up?”

Regardless if it’s Parallel Space-Time, or the future time Galliard spoke of, making clear the relation that Leon is indeed Li Ang, Queen Ines would not yield a fraction to the self three years ago, foolishly nearly missing her husband.

Leon was sweating profusely.

On one side was the wife he was married to for life, and on the other, the not yet a wife but the woman just confessed his feelings to….

…Finally, the message quickly returned by the envoy saved him from this bizarre atmosphere.

The Golden Lion Queen occupying Kalantha accepted the request for “negotiation”.

Seeing Agatha, Treya, and others leading a group of Guards arriving, Leon rose from his seat.

“Prepare a warhorse for me, that’s all I need. You don’t have to go; I am enough alone.”

Little Ines beside immediately grabbed his hand, frowning: “The decision to meet her is already risky enough, how can you not bring guards?”

Leon shook his head: “Going alone can show my stance, increasing the credibility and sincerity of my words. Besides, she just defeated me head on; if she disregarded trust and detained me when I actively serve as an envoy, even with the Holy Sword, no amount of Guards would help.

Rest assured, I believe Olivia wouldn’t do such a thing.”

Today, stating the relationship they had in another destiny, surely it holds no significance for the current Golden Lion Queen.

But Leon felt he still had a bargaining chip.

Despite different experiences and years, people indeed change, but as long as Olivia is still Olivia.

Compared to the emotions never born between them in this life, that chip accompanying her growth is evidently more weighty.

This chip is also the result he must retrieve from this destiny.

Gently comforting the young girl, Leon turned back to face the always silent Ines.

Receiving that trusting gaze, he nodded slightly, stepped out through the doors, mounted the warhorse, and rode away.

Leaving the town confronted by the garrison, Leon galloped towards Kalantha, midway commanding the Scout Riders to return, and continued alone, lightly equipped, to the imposing fortress walls.

Looking up at the black Dragon flag fluttering on the city wall.

Knights in red robes and Heavy Armor filled the parapets, numerous Great Bows and Powerful Crossbows even poised threateningly, ready to unleash a wall of arrows at a command.

Not seeing Olivia’s figure in sight, Leon pulled on the reins, shouting aloud:

“—Snake Slayer, Leon Zangson is here.

Please let the Golden Lion Queen meet me beneath the city!”

The solemn city wall was terrifyingly quiet, with no one responding.

Until the massive drawbridge of the fortress lowered with a rumbling sound.

That figure with a cloak swaying in the autumn breeze, the white and gold silhouette, appeared behind the raised gate.

The rush of air pouring into the city gates made the cloak behind the young girl flutter, accompanying steel boots’ crisp and clear strides, slowly stepping forth.

Looking from afar at Olivia walking indifferently ahead.

Whether due to lingering injuries, Leon felt a shortness of breath….

The unresolved emotions of being unable to recognize his beloved turned into a long sigh.

Dismounting, Leon summoned Garner, turning the spearhead and striking it into the ground, walking forward on foot.

Olivia didn’t bring that golden Dragon Spear which campaigned north and south, nor did she draw her sword; she stood amidst broken shards strewn flags, bloodstains, and smoldering war remains.

“Recovered swiftly…” the girl’s voice sounded without fluctuation.

Her emerald eyes clear as a deep lake, seemingly void of longing or hatred, just a tranquil icy field.

“I haven’t killed you, but there will not be a second time. You shouldn’t appear like this before me.”

“That’s why I’m here unarmed.” Leon raised his hands, attempting to explain the whole situation.

He worried tirelessly that without being seen, Olivia would be very anxious.

However, according to what Galliard said, the Golden Lion Queen before him was his little lion.

Should he be grateful or not, at least right now she didn’t suffer the same torment as Ines during that time, enduring the upheaval of losing his whereabouts.

“We need not continue shedding blood. Interestingly, you might find it hard to believe, but we…”

“In another destiny, we are loving spouses, right?” Olivia interrupted before he finished.

Leon originally intended to say they were friends to avoid agitating her, words stuck in his throat, stunned on the spot.

“Snake Slayer, is that all you came to say today?” the girl asked calmly.

“You already knew?” Leon was astonished.

“Wait, how do you know? When did you know?”

Various possibilities flashed through his mind, finally fixating on Galliard’s face.

Had that Minstrel also found Olivia?

“Does it matter?” The girl’s strands, in the battlefield’s wind with the golden mane surrounding the neck armor, swayed, she slowly closed her eyes.

“…Such fate, to me, is just a resplendent dream.

Whether knowing or not, I will not blindly stand still within it, comparing it to countless others’ futures, the possibilities between you and me… are insignificant.”

Upon reopening her eyes, Olivia was unwavering.

“I understand your intention, Snake Slayer, but I won’t relinquish this sword, such a future is the destiny I chose with my own hands.”
