Chapter 708: Chapter 330: Different Fates
In the tranquil banquet hall, the opulent chandelier hung quietly beneath the dome.
Around the walls, exquisite tapestries and paintings depicted the legends and epics of the Felu people.
Yet not all were ancient artworks.
Leon gazed up at the refined full-length portrait hanging at the top.
In the painting, Ines wore a dress as white as moonlight, adorned with a delicate and exquisite crown, noble and captivating.
The smile and happiness radiating from her face seemed to leap off the canvas.
The young girl sat sideways, her hand gently raised, resting in the palm of the person beside her… and the person standing by her side was naturally none other than himself.
Leon was somewhat moved.
What Ines and Treya said was true; they are indeed identical.
No wonder they recognized him at first glance, for looking at the features and demeanor, he felt like he was looking into a mirror.
In the painting, aside from the Prince’s Robe and the Lion Mane Cloak, the self holding Ines’s hand looked the same as he does in reality.
Leon couldn’t help but glance sideways, then turned toward other paintings that featured his likeness.
There was him slaying a vicious beast, holding the monster’s head…
There was him in a Sea Eagle Battle Robe leading an army into battle…
There was him wearing the Northern Mage Robe Armor…
And there was him standing by Ines at her coronation, perpetuating the Hecha Dynasty…
The experiences of himself that Big Ines recounted were altogether different from those in the original timeline.
In this world, his first meeting with Ines took place in Haven County of the Great Vestra Territory.
At that time, he was a disciple and attendant of the renowned “Water Monster Slayer,” Knight Glenn Soren.
Back then, he was following Glenn Soren, tracking down the snake monster that ravaged the kingdom’s North, and met Ines during an incident when the giant snake attacked the royal convoy, marking his fateful encounter with the Third Princess.
According to the history recounted by Big Ines, this version of himself also escaped captivity from the Kantadar Mercenaries before traveling north into the Orland Kingdom.
Unexpectedly, in this timeline, he also knew Azeryan and Lokhak.
However, although the three shared a bond, it was not as long-lasting or deep as in his original timeline.
In this world, it seems that after escaping to the “Gray Robe Valley,” the three parted ways out of necessity for livelihood and their respective goals.
He did not stay in Kosos County, but wandered the land to make a living, eventually arriving in the northwest, where after killing some bandits in the countryside with his exceptional skills in arms, he was mistaken by the villagers for a “Ranger Knight.”
As a result, due to his audacity in demanding a reward, he ended up being questioned by the real Ranger Knight, Lord Glenn Soren.
As fate would have it, instead of getting into trouble, he unexpectedly gained the opportunity to apprentice under the esteemed Water Monster Slayer, becoming one of the Northern Hero’s attendants and disciples.
Azeryan, as he came to learn along the journey, was the orphan of the Flarrell Family. After many twists and turns, he made his way east and finally returned to Seryan from Eastern Orland, until he became the King of Seryan. Beyond some simple correspondence, they had no further interactions.
As for Lokhak, after his escape, in haste to return to Kantadar to find his lost relatives, he joined an Orland Mercenary Corps heading south from River Valley County for battle, after which he vanished without a trace.
However, unlike Azeryan, who he lost contact with earlier, this world’s Lokhak unexpectedly met him again…
“Leon! Is it you who has returned?”
A series of footsteps approached from outside the banquet hall.
Hearing that anxious and familiar voice, Leon turned around.
The person running over was none other than his family housekeeper, Miss Elena.
Seeing Leon’s figure, Elena’s eyes melted with worry as she ran over quickly, grasping Leon’s arm and examining him; the joyous smile reaching her eyebrows despite her breathless state.
“…That’s great, I’m glad you’re alright… I knew you would be!”
Leon moved his lips but silently swallowed his intention to clarify his identity.
Unlike the extraordinarily unique relationship with Big Ines, looking at the face full of concern of the identical Elena before him, he truly didn’t want this lady, who had cared for him like a “sister” in both worlds, to fall into the panic and worry of losing a loved one again.
“Thank you for your concern.” Leon smiled.
This is one of the few things that remained constant in both timelines.
In this parallel space-time, this lady still became his house manager.
However, the difference is that in this world, Miss Elena was not “rescued” by him.
Back then, after becoming a qualified Ranger Knight, he headed south to begin his first Ranger training journey, intending to go to Kantadar to seek clues for the unfortunate lady.
However, having bid farewell to Ranger Master Glenn Soren and Princess Ines, his journey had only just reached Farayel Domain’s Dragon Throat City.
He encountered Larian and his entourage, who had eloped with Miss Magrina and sailed into Orland.
The ladies fleeing with Larian from Kantadar naturally included Elena, Martha, Raya, Sally, and Treya.
Recognizing Elena, he immediately invited the group to settle in West Bay County.
Subsequently, he changed his destination, heading south to Kantadar, intending to search and journey while finding the esteemed water monster slayer, combining exploration with his traveling knight adventure.
However, only upon traversing the Farayel Domain did he learn about the rumors of Rolannar’s restoration. Upon returning to the peaceful Holy Land City hometown of Raya, she and Magrina went back to inherit the family business under Larian’s protection.
However, homeless, Elena and Martha found careers as Lady Officials for his domain, helping manage his fiefdom and wealth in West Bay County. Miss Treya would later become one of the Ranger Knights combating demons and monsters alongside him in Orland’s internal conflicts.
It was not until after experiencing many events and the outbreak of the civil war in Orland that both of them, after a lapse of many years, found themselves standing on opposing sides, swords drawn.
In this world, Lokhak had indeed become a mighty general under the banner of the Golden Lion Queen in the Kantadar war after he went missing post his disaster, unexpectedly meeting him again on the battlefield…
But, despite their opposing blades on the field, upon seeing his long-lost sister, Hawk was filled with joy and gratitude; a reunion that left him reluctant to reciprocate this world’s version of Leon’s offer of an olive branch. Instead, he chose to return to the Golden Lion Queen to personally atone, taking leave of his ranks and titles, vanishing without leaving a trace…
Nevertheless, knowing that his last remaining kin was still alive, Lokhak was relieved, having fully devoted himself to the storm brewing on the western shore of Kantadar, as the “Revenge Knight”.
According to Little Ines, the rumor of Rolannar’s restoration in Kantadar had spread, and the Rebel Army he joined indeed had Orland’s backing.
The Golden Lion Queen seemed to have given her full support to the Revenge Knight waging storms in Western Kantadar.
Despite having lost contact with Azeryan quite early, the Lokhak of this world met him again later on…
Fortunately, knowing that his last remaining relative, Elena, was still alive, had lifted a weight off his mind, giving Leon some measure of peace.
Prior to this, in the cemetery at Selva, confronted with the plight of those strangers who didn’t recognize him at all, Leon found it difficult to let go of his sorrow over their untimely fate.
Before this, in the cemetery at Selva Village, Leon had no idea who they were in this world.
“Selva Village?”
She furrowed her brow, reflecting for a moment, then shook her head.
I don’t seem to recall you mentioning that place, where is it?”
