Chapter 682: 319 Chapter King

In the relatively quiet inn dining room, the young girl sat in a corner, with a hooded cloak covering most of her face, revealing only a delicate chin and slightly upturned lips.

On the table were rough wooden plates, filled with simple roasted meat with sauce, bread, and vegetable-stem stew, which obviously differed vastly from the exquisite royal delicacies.

But for the Little Princess, who had experienced plenty of life in military camps, such coarse meals were already a usual affair.

Her slender, fair fingers held a sharp little knife, gently yet deftly piercing the roast, cutting along the grain slowly, and lifting a small piece to her mouth with the knife tip.

Her cheeks slightly bulged as she chewed, maintaining a dignified and composed demeanor, even eating quickly in small bites without making the slightest improper sound.

Meanwhile, Leon, sitting across from her, by comparison, seemed particularly rough in his usual actions.

The inn naturally couldn’t provide the chopsticks he had custom-made in Avalon, so Leon, extremely hungry, didn’t mind and directly used his hands, clean and practical, just like his third brother had done before.

He broke open the bread wafting with a wheat fragrance, its slightly rough crust making a faint “crunching” sound, then dipped it into the meat stew in front of him, tearing off pieces of roast to wrap within, quickly replenishing his exhausted strength.

As an inn located in the prosperous district of Holy Land City, the food offered wasn’t bad at all. The sauce drizzled over the roast chicken was made from local specialty crops, adding a unique flavor.

But at this moment, neither Leon nor Ines had much mind to savor the local cuisine of Rolannar City.

The young girl, with not a large appetite, finished her meal first, wiped her lips, and quietly watched Leon, still devouring his food like a starving ghost reborn, ordering dish after dish from the inn’s waiter.

When Leon finally gulped down the last glass of beer, his face showed a barely seven-tenths satisfied look, and he barely stopped.

Ines played with the sheathed small knife, in place of the Seralir Silk Fan absent at her side, though calm in appearance, her inner world was a storming sea of turmoil.

She spoke again to confirm, “…Three years later, even with magic, this is too absurd…”

Leon wiped his mouth clean, put down the cloth, and nodded, “I know it’s unbelievable, but it’s not just the innkeeper…” Looking aside at the local merchants drinking and chatting nearby, he turned back to Ines, “What I’ve gathered from others is the same. Now it is indeed the 866th year of the Holy Solar Calendar, September 15th.”

Leon resolved the confusion he had not long ago; no wonder there were no traces of war within Rolannar City.

However, for Holy Land City to have fully escaped the effects of the Undead War in over four years post-war, the Church’s reconstruction efficiency was still impressively high to Leon.

Ines fell into a brief contemplation, her gentle brows slightly furrowing, showing distress beyond her expectations, “If we were indeed transported by the rebellious magicians’ magic to three years later from that night, doesn’t it mean you and I have been seen as missing for a full three years in others’ eyes?”

“I think that’s indeed the case, but, more accurately, that magic wasn’t from Met and the magicians, they didn’t have that capability. The magic I tried activating that night to strike back was ancient magic already hidden in the Royal Palace,” Leon explained.

“Ancient magic? It seems my father hasn’t fully discovered all the secrets of the Royal Palace in the decade plus of his reign,” Ines sighed.

She looked again at the seemingly still composed Leon, with a faint, bitter smile in her admiration, “…Three years… However, with you and me missing for so long, I wonder if the magicians’ coup plot from that night succeeded. I fear many things have spiraled out of control over the years we’ve been absent… To encounter such a bizarre and incredible situation, I truly admire how you manage to maintain such a calm expression.”

Leon consoled her, “After all, the situation has unfolded as it has, and there’s no use in me lamenting now. But looking at the current scenario, no matter what went wrong that night, I must have activated that ancient magic. Considering Met’s previous smug mockery, this certainly caught him off guard, so maybe the magicians invading the Royal Palace that night were also affected by the explosive magic.”

He smiled optimistically, “Perhaps, the magicians who broke into the palace were also blasted into the future, just like us. If so, their plan would have completely failed.”

Of course, Leon didn’t explicitly inform Ines that the true reason he quickly calmed down was due to him having already experienced once being inexplicably ‘teleported’ from Earth to this world.

Compared to the soul journey across two dimensional worlds, on reflection, being blown three years into the future within this world by mysterious, powerful magic, though bizarre, wasn’t particularly difficult to accept.

It was merely being ‘scarlet’ for three years, not thirty years, three hundred years, or three thousand years… This was already the greatest luck.

The only worry lingering in his heart was about the safety of Olivia, Azeryan, Lokhak, Kovis, and other relatives and friends over these three years…

However, the domain wouldn’t cease functioning without him alone.

With abundant wealth and land for support, Azeryan managed the overall situation in the civil sphere, while Olivia, Lokhak, Uncle Brian, and several Avalon Knights defended the homeland in the military sphere.
