Chapter 676: 316 Magic

Chapter 676: Chapter 316 Magic

Following Ines’ guidance towards the direction of the Dragon Nest behind the eastern mountains, passing through the core area in the center of the Royal Palace, Leon looked at the nearby roads, finding them increasingly familiar.

He remembered that the same route was taken last time he came to the Royal Palace with Ines to visit the Sun Holy Sword…

As he ran past the southern stone pillar corridor, before the steps connecting to the lower platform courtyard, Leon suddenly caught sight of a strange phenomenon in the distance.

Standing at a height, he could see, not far away within the walls of the central courtyard at a lower level, a faint light screen rising like a thin mist.

“That’s the courtyard where the Ancestor Holy Sword is located, this light… what exactly happened?” Ines’ eyes widened as she softly whispered a reminder in Leon’s ear.

Leon frowned, he knew without even thinking that the magical anomaly over there must be related to tonight’s changes in the Royal Palace.

But now he couldn’t afford to investigate.

Quickly running down the steps, Leon attempted to detour around the courtyard where the Sun Holy Sword was located.

However, before he had taken more than a dozen steps, a premonition of danger exploding in his mind set off alarm bells.

Letting go with his left arm, putting Ines’ body down, Leon turned and protected her behind him, swinging out Garner horizontally.

— Wind Hammer!!!

The massive air wave roared, striking the large scaly body that darted out of the shadows, knocking it back.

The sharp hissing of the giant snake was enough to make one’s teeth ache and head pound.

Without turning back, Leon drew the long sword from his waist and tossed it to Ines, then placed his hand on his chest, activating the last Netti Card “Boiling Heart” inside his pocket through his clothes.

Without hesitation, he guided the Netti Card Magic to include both himself and Ines within the amplification effect’s casting range.

The little princess had at least learned a bit of swordsmanship, even if it was just a shell, but with the amplify from the Netti Card, Leon figured she could have some self-defense capability… the aftereffects of exhaustion afterwards were better than death.

However, in the Magic Perception, sensing the rebound-like tension from the Netti Card’s replicated reality effect, Leon turned his head in surprise.

He saw Ines behind him, her face flushed unnaturally, frowning in confusion, not showing any sign of the augmentation that would activate and boil the Magic Element within her body.

Leon was astonished, was she like Olivia too? Having inherited that kind of anti-magic power?

From his own Magic Power consumption, he perceived that the Netti Card indeed only had an effect on himself, leaving Leon in doubt.

However, he quickly realized that Ines was different from Olivia, her interference with Magic wasn’t as pronounced.

Shaking his head, he put this unexpected discovery aside for now; it wasn’t the time to explore Ines’ bloodline inheritance.

“…I’ve been hoping to catch up with you, Lord Pendragon.” The figure in Black Robe stepped out of the darkness, the glowing spear staff lightly thudding the ground.

Putting down the hood covering his head, the man revealed the golden eye rune on his face, smiling at Leon: “I wanted to have a good talk with you after everything was over, but you came to me first, oh… and brought me a gift?”

Ines saw the mage’s glance and frowned, gripping the heavy Forbidden Guard long sword that didn’t fit her hand well, hiding behind Leon.

The girl recognized the figure; in the North, there were only a dozen Spellcasters who could be called Warlock Masters, and Ines remembered each one clearly.

Leon held the Magic Wand diagonally, his eyes flashing with the white gleam of gathered Magic Power, watching the movements of the man intently.

“I didn’t expect to see you again. I thought after you escaped, you’d hide in some snake hole, never returning to Orland. Too bad Canis isn’t here; he ‘thinks about you day and night,’ and if he were here, he’d make sure to help seal your slack snake drain tonight.”

Met grinned at Leon’s sarcastic remark.

“Whether he’s here or not is up to you. I remember your trick, forgive my rudeness… being able to resurrect someone completely dead, such a method, whether it’s your research achievement or Ancient Magic found in a Spiritual Field, just one could get a personal meeting with the Empire’s Governor across the sea.”

Met opened his arms slightly, his smile turning mild: “You’re really skilled, Pendragon. To withstand such an impact, and still keep your mind agile tonight… I can’t understand how you managed it.”

He glanced at the little Princess of the Hecha Family, honestly surprised that this girl was still conscious and lively.

Turning his attention back to Leon, Met tilted his Magic Wand, continuing: “Remember my advice to you back then? Although so many unpleasant things happened, today, I can still put aside our misunderstandings and conflicts.

I only killed Canis to repay a favor, I didn’t intend to harm you. You might not believe it, but I always thought of ways to help you escape the Wolf Family’s accountability and associate with you deeply.

My biggest misunderstanding was underestimating your power. If I had known you had such skills, maybe we wouldn’t have become enemies.

The past can’t be changed, but after tonight, a new era will begin. I’m still willing to give an opportunity to similar people like you; I don’t want to kill the few true compatriots on this land, it’s up to you whether you cherish my second goodwill.”

How nice that sounds… Leon returned the smile without showing any emotion: “Put aside the conflicts? Give me a chance? All right, I actually don’t hold any grudge against you. In that case, would you have my friends aiming from behind the wall step aside and let us leave? I promise to remember your friendship.”

“Of course.” Met chuckled lowly with a deep laugh: “As long as you join our cause, once everything is over, after I’ve fulfilled my wish, you can safely return to Avalon, otherwise, even if I don’t stop you, Wisemar won’t let you leave alive.”

Behind the nearby wall, the Warlock Master holding a Magic Wand twitched at the mouth, secretly cursing in anger as he heard Met announce his identity to the other side.

Leon squinted slightly… Wisemar? One of the three leaders of the Warlock Society?

Did these Northern Wizards all connect with Athias this time?

Leon decisively raised both hands in a military salute to Met: “Okay! I thought it over carefully, there’s really no need to oppose you. I’ve decided to join. Tell me, what exactly did you do in the Royal Palace?”

“Are you trying to toy with me like a child?” Met watched Leon’s clumsy performance with interest, adjusting the spear staff in his hand, giving the final ultimatum: “Remove your Defensive Magic, put down the Magic Wand, and give me the girl from the Hecha Family. Only then would I believe in your sincerity and ensure your safety through tonight.

After tonight, I will tell you some things.

Oh, and I know your relationship with this girl is not simple, but don’t worry, I don’t want to kill her, just put a ‘collar’ on her to make her obedient after tonight; you can make her your slave if you wish.”

Hearing such humiliation, Ines remained unmoved, well aware of the kind of person protecting her in front at this moment.

Leon frowned slightly: “…. Blood Oath Curse?”

“…. It seems you know a lot….. oh, I forgot, you have a male lover from the Eastern Continent.” Met raised an eyebrow.

Leon lowered his arms, seemingly caught in contemplation and weighing his options, his awareness already sensing that the Magic Power maintaining the Horror Mountain Bear had ceased.

This means that the spellcasters who were stopped outside the Royal Palace have defeated the road-blocking giant bears.

These two Warlock Masters, front and back, have no chance of winning on their own. If delayed until the opponent’s reinforcements arrive, escape would be impossible.

Leon reversed the blade of the Gungnir in his hand and gave his answer to the opponent: “Alright, I agree to your demand. I hope you will keep your promise and not harm Princess Ines.”

After saying this, he raised his Magic Wand and threw it far away into the distant woods.

Met tilted his chin in satisfaction, and the giant serpent slithered behind him. He looked at Ines: “Let her come over… Don’t worry, if she were a man, she’d naturally have to die tonight, but being just a woman, she poses no threat to my plans. As long as she doesn’t interfere, I promise I won’t trouble her.”

Leon turned back to look at Ines, wanting to say something, but Ines stopped him by raising her hand.

The girl’s green eyes stared at him, and although surprised by his act of discarding the Magic Wand, she smiled faintly and silently raised her hand, tossing the long sword back to Leon.

“Ah~ ah~… What a despicable person this Griffin of Avalon turned out to be… I should have known not to let a coward like you have a chance to climb into my bed.”

Ines pulled her coat tighter, her small boots stomping heavily, as if her whole being was filled with disappointment and resentment.

From afar, Met’s cold laughter came through: “You should learn gratitude, little girl of the Hecha Family. If not for this relationship, I would not mind letting such a self-important bloodline of the Drakemar family understand their true status.”

Ines lowered her gaze, silent, appearing to compromise as she reluctantly walked in Met’s direction.

In the moment Met’s attention was slightly distracted by Ines—the instant Leon took action, his feet kicked powerfully on the ground.

Seeing the obstinate young mage once again refusing the olive branch, Met was unsurprised, coldly snorted, “I knew it!”

He lowered his Magic Wand, and the giant python immediately whooshed out from beside him.

Leon sprinted with full force, covering the small distance that Ines had walked out of in just two steps, and wrapped his body around her, holding her tightly.

There was a moment when Met didn’t understand his actions.

He thought the other was about to take the opportunity to launch a counterattack, but did not expect him to just protect the Third Princess again… What’s the point of this back and forth?

In the next moment, thunder roared in the sky, and brilliant lightning flickered in Leon’s eyes.

The Magic Gun among the distant woods had long disappeared without a trace.

And amid the atmospheric clouds gathered in the airspace ahead, a blazing bolt of lightning suddenly struck down.

—Gungnir, Flying Thunder God.

Boom!

The giant snake opened its bloodthirsty mouth, with a stench, biting down.

The blinding Magic Bullet that pierced through thick walls came flying, with its tail trailing.

The arcs of lightning erupted around Leon, and the elemental electric field drawn from the distant sky turned the body tightly hugging Ines into a shooting lightning comet.

Taking advantage of this second transformation of the Thunder Spear today, he quickly launched a reverse traction to fly up into the sky; with the whooshing night wind in his ears, Leon looked back at what seemed to be another elemental entity chasing from Wisemar.

Uttering a spell, Leon imbued the incomplete Molten Flame Technique into the Forbidden Guard long sword in his hand and hurled it with a powerful toss.

The steel sword corroded by the Demon Rune could not contain the violent and chaotic Molten Flame Technique, suddenly exploding in a fiery shockwave formed by the Hot Element, intercepting the glaring magic bullet flying in midair.

Leon’s body, now weightless, followed the trajectory of the descending Thunder Spear as he passed over the highest point.

“Hold tight!” Leon shouted, inverting the Traction Technique once more.

The Thunder Spear, shining with electric brilliance, soared back into its master’s hand from the sky.

Catching the force from the heavy Magic Wand allowed him to spiral in midair once again and throw the Magic Gun.

Repeating the movement to slow the rapid descent, Leon held the octopus-like clinging Ines, skidding on the ground slabs laid below until the momentum of his forward charge stopped.

The soles of his boots were completely shredded by the intense friction, with his socks tearing, and his feet directly grinding on the stone floor, leaving alarming blood marks.

But Leon, unperturbed, halted his motion, quickly scanning his surroundings.

Exploiting the contemporary mages’ general inability to fly independently, he had temporarily escaped several hundred meters away.

But he knew it was of no use; the enemy will catch up sooner or later, and he could no longer afford to let the opponent be caught off guard a second time.

But his all-out gamble, willing to compromise Gungnir’s structural stability, to fly to this “place,” wasn’t meant to flee in panic.

His gaze swept over the light curtain lingering in this courtyard, following the giant Demon Rune array spread beneath his feet, he looked towards the center of the formation.

During the prior probing, the most valuable information confirmed was from Met’s shocked words about his consciousness—their actions here had indeed paralyzed everyone’s consciousness inside the entire Royal Palace.

And at this critical moment, the only place he could speculate producing a corresponding reaction to Met and his group’s activities could only be this magic-phenomenon-laden Holy Sword Courtyard.

Leon’s eyes did their best to scan the complex, massive magic array covering the entire courtyard, trying to stir up all the ancient Lorelette Magic Knowledge he had learned over the past year for recognition and analysis, attempting to find a way to interfere or destroy the magic possibly causing comas.

In this moment, he fervently wished for a more expert Kovis to be by his side to offer assistance.

But tonight, he couldn’t rely on anyone.

“… Sirius Path Astrology Array…..

Direondi’s Great Summoning Technique….?

Harlan’s Court…. Yarchal’s Court….. Isa’s Court….

… damn it, why are there so many activation terminals?”

Ines, set down, watched nervously as Leon ran around like a headless fly in the courtyard filled with complex luminous runes…
