Chapter 657: Chapter 306 Knight Tournament_3

However, this time the opponent was evidently not a Fake Knight. Baron William, nicknamed Iron Bone, raised his long spear and charged at Leon once again with a loud battle cry.

Leon saw through the opponent’s attack trajectory. Just before they crossed paths, his spear fell, feinting directly at the thick neck armor of William’s frog helmet.

Seeing the fist-shaped spearhead coming at him through his narrow vision, William was startled. At the same time as his counterattack, he used his Shield to block… better to lose two points than three.

Yet, at the moment their attacks intersected, William only felt he had pierced air.

The next second, neither neck nor Shield had any sensation of contact with the opponent’s spear, instead, a massive force hit his waist.

In the crisp sound of the Riding Spear’s glory blasting, William was unavoidably knocked down, forced to yank the reins as he rolled off the horse.

Cheers echoed, Leon skillfully reined in the Black Steed, slowing its thundering gallop.

He tossed aside the spear handle, raising his hand to acknowledge the roaring arena spectators.

It didn’t need careful calculation to know that falling off, hitting the Chest Armor, and the glory blast meant unless he could knock him out directly, victory was decided.

Amidst swirling dust, William climbed from the ground, pounding the earth in frustration, his blood boiling as he shouted at his Attendant.

“—Sword!”

The Attendant hurriedly ran into the arena carrying the great sword, handing the weapon to his master.

Leon naturally heard the still unyielding shout of his opponent.

Turning back, he leapt off the horse, discarded his left arm’s Heraldic Shield, and happily accepted the continued challenge from the North Realm Knight.

Drawing the competition longsword quickly delivered by Kovis, Leon strode forward.

Two iron-clad giants wielding swords rushed at each other like a gust of wind.

Leon didn’t plan to waste energy. From the moment they clashed, he treated it with the same seriousness as when facing Olivia.

In an instant, nearby spectators caught a glimpse of the Black-armored Knight’s longsword in his hand, reflecting sunlight into what seemed like nine flashes of light.

The shockwave rippled, and the four Magicians around the arena immediately furrowed their brows, confirming there was no trace of Magic.

The clashing sword blades sounded sharp and clear. William, alarmed, felt nine sword lights assault him, attempting with all his might to wield his heavy great sword to dispel this bizarre, illusion-like Sword Skill.

Yet each solid strike vibrated the massive blade of the great sword, William’s limited narrow vision unable to fend off those skillful sword flashes from all directions.

The Shoulder Shield was knocked off, an arm armor surfaced a shallow mark, and a pain in his calf unbalanced the North Realm Knight, sending him sprawling.

When he tried to roll and dodge, he found a knee pinning him firmly to the ground.

Without waiting for further struggle, the longsword behind him scraped the frog helmet and was stuck into the sand merely an inch from his head.

William heard the young voice.

“I win, my lord.”

Iron Bone William, though unwilling to admit to being halted so soon in the tournament, could only sigh, ceasing his struggle and letting go of the sword hilt he couldn’t properly wield.

“Indeed, you have won, Lord Pendragon.”

The messenger in the stands raised the Scepter high: “….What a splendid and glorious duel! Let us congratulate the lion of Avalon, who has defeated the thirteenth formidable Knight!!”

As he released the pressure on the North Realm Baron Hades, Leon extended his left hand to help the opponent up after he flipped over, casually earning himself more points for manners.

Though it served no practical purpose, having a better score looked nicer on the record, didn’t it…

Receiving the audience’s applause, Leon returned to the resting area within the arena, where Kovis helped him remove the thickened competition plate armor.

Going to the back stage, Leon registered and collected from the tournament official the ransom for the spoils of war Baron William Hades had pledged.

Just like that, more than three hundred gold crowns were now in hand; Baron William’s equipment was indeed valuable.

Of course, this amount is currently only recorded in his name, with the actual money to be accumulated and distributed uniformly after the tournament concludes.

“Leon, our reserve Riding Spears are used up again.”

On the way to the spectators’ stands, Kovis reported to him.

Leon nodded: “Let’s go buy another batch from the arena’s warehouse later.”

In such a prolonged tournament lasting a whole month, Knights who are eliminated midway wouldn’t feel it, but those strong enough to fight until the latter stages might bring a dozen to twenty or thirty Riding Spears and still find it insufficient.

Besides the competition-standard Riding Spears, other unexpected expenses like damage to weapons and armor, injured Warhorses, and all kinds of unforeseen circumstances also require money.

Unsurprisingly, the expenses in the tournament are significantly higher than normal market prices.

However, Knights capable of fighting to the later stages and continuing to spend naturally have the means to invest heavily in themselves, continuing to earn glory and prizes.

With such a flowing cycle, quite a bit of money and profit circulated back into the hands of the tournament’s official pockets.

Lydwen, or rather the officials under Lydwen, were truly skilled at profiting.

Leon arrived at the audience passage, not yet going up, when he saw Olivia descending.

“What’s up? Not watching anymore?” Leon asked.

Olivia shook her head: “The matches after yours didn’t look so good.”

“Your taste is getting more discerning,” Leon chuckled. But indeed, without personally being in the ring, merely watching low-level bouts might seem as boring as watching two kids fight.

Taking her hand, Leon decided to leave the arena early with her, strolling toward the equipment warehouse used for the competition.
