Chapter 653: Chapter 305 Sun Holy Sword_2
The young Crown Prince with a head full of golden hair spoke brightly: “Lord Pendragon, who severely wounded Valensis Arsene, I have heard of your great name even at the borders of the Loman Territory.”
Leon bowed his head slightly: “Your Highness Eric.”
Eric approached and nodded: “You have quite the physique, I hear you are six years younger than me… up close, you are even taller than I am. Are you really, as the rumor says, the son of a hunter? You Seryan hunters… must eat very well.”
“Does Brother have something to attend to?” Ines frowned, wishing her foolish elder brother would leave quickly. She knew that if Leon seriously mentioned something urgent, it surely concerned something significant.
“I’ve come to witness our ‘Snake Slayer’s’ prowess.”
Completely oblivious to his little sister’s urging, Eric grinned as he scrutinized Leon and then turned to Ines, saying with a smile: “Your eye for people is much better than father’s. I’ve always said Akman doesn’t deserve you.”
Leon raised an eyebrow, about to clarify, but Ines spoke first with her displeased tone.
“Baron Leon was married by the end of last year. Both Mr. Leon, his wife, and I are all friends, Brother should not speak carelessly.”
“Uh… what a pity.” Eric was momentarily taken aback, regretfully shaking his head, and looked at Leon: “I returned from the East Territory not knowing you were already married, my apologies, my apologies.”
Although he thought it normal for men to have a few lovers, which noble didn’t have a woman or two on the side, and many a noble lady had men outside of marriage, his own sister was of such high status that she certainly could not be reduced to someone else’s mistress without a title.
At this moment, a pleasant female voice called out from afar: “Eric~”
Leon looked over, and in the corridor was a young woman gracefully approaching, holding up her skirt.
The Crown Prince’s face lit up with a warm smile as he turned back: “Coming right away, Julie.”
Responding to his female companion’s call, Eric turned to Leon with a smile: “Since you can wound the Dragon Slayer of the south, your martial abilities must be outstanding. I will also participate in the knight tournament convened by father, so let me experience your riding and martial arts skills then, and make sure not to be eliminated halfway.”
Having said this, he turned back, took the arm of the woman named Julie, and walked away, laughing.
Ines glanced at the backs of her brother and the woman, gently shaking her head…
Julie Ostdor, the eldest daughter of Duke Loman.
Truly, the ways of the world are unpredictable. Just over a year ago, father would never have permitted Brother to openly associate with Duke Loman’s daughter.
But now, as the balance of power tilts towards the Royal Family, the dynamics of attack and defense have shifted. Father eagerly hopes that Eric will soon marry the daughter of the Loman family.
“Let’s go, didn’t you say you had something urgent? We can go to the garden courtyard, where no one will disturb us.” Having said this, Ines turned and led the way.
Upon reaching a corner of the Royal Palace garden, Kovis and the others, along with Agatha, were guarding the outskirts. Leon and Ines entered a domed pavilion supported by six columns and sat down. He then earnestly spoke of Prince Rickto’s situation.
After hearing Leon’s serious warning, Ines fell into silence and contemplation.
Though surprised at how mysteriously the suspect discovered the assassination attempt… Ines did not disregard Leon’s warning.
She couldn’t understand who could wish death upon her seemingly harmless and political-distant second brother, who had been devoted to being a scholar with almost no presence in court?
If Leon’s words were true, wouldn’t her brother, always at the Royal University, be in constant danger of assassination?
After brief reflection, Ines stood up and went out of the pavilion to call Agatha.
The little princess covered her mouth with a folding fan, quietly whispering instructions to the Chief Guard, after which Agatha nodded and swiftly left the garden.
Leon sat in the pavilion without eavesdropping, waiting for Ines to finish her conversation with her Guard Knight. Only then did he stand up, approach, and take his leave:
“Since Your Highness now understands the matter, I shall not disturb you further.”
“Wait.” Ines momentarily set aside the doubts arising in her heart, smiling at him: “If what you said is true, it could very well save my Second Prince’s life and earn me a great favor from him. How could I not offer you some reward?”
“A reward?”
Listening to this, Leon thought carefully and said: “If you confirm that person is indeed an assassin, perhaps you could send me more of the alchemy materials I requested before. As for Prince Rickto, just reward me with some gold crowns.”
Even though Avalon isn’t lacking money right now, the more money, the better.
“Your requests are quite simple and straightforward…” Ines chuckled.
Leon shrugged, suddenly remembering the stories about the giants he heard before the audience and couldn’t help asking: “Speaking of, I’ve heard tales of the Dusk Knight since I arrived in Orland, so perhaps Your Highness could show me the Sun Holy Sword? Of course, if the royal treasures are not for private viewing, I understand.”
Ines waved her hand: “Haha, it’s not that big of a deal. According to the court records, the Holy Sword has been embedded in the Stone Base for a millennium with no one able to move it, so no one can take it away. It’s essentially a public Royal Family spectacle. Showing it to you is no big deal.”
Leon’s interest was piqued.
In his previous world, such legends were mere fabricated stories, but in this Otherworld with magic and exotic creatures, a divine weapon that hasn’t rusted for a thousand years and is immovable stirs curiosity whether as a mage or a knight.
Could it be made of Dwarf Steel?
Leon couldn’t help but recall the “Thorny Blade” that had transformed him from a fugitive to a Knight Lord.
Following Ines through the garden courtyard, Leon eagerly anticipated witnessing the ancient divine weapon.
