Knights and Magic Wand
Chapter 569 - 569 270 A Daring Military Move

569: Chapter 270: A Daring Military Move 569: Chapter 270: A Daring Military Move The swirling dark clouds, accompanied by soul torrents pulsing straight into the heavens, gradually dissipated, revealing the true firmament.

At that moment, the rays of dawn blanketed every corner of Fenlidun City, streets and alleys bathed once again in the vitality of radiant light.

Ghosts lingering in the shadows screamed as if suppressed by some invisible force, fleeing fearfully into the depths of the earth.

The sun’s brilliance, like an authoritative King, dispelled the Netherworld’s laws that did not belong to this land.

The Upper City plaza…

the Lower City market…

the Outer City barracks…

the brutal battlefield in the distant hills…

the sea of Corpse Ghosts began to recede.

As if evading the sunlight newly cast upon the earth, tens of thousands of shambling corpses lost the restraints of the Upper Undead and the altar, instinctively following the inertia etched in their souls and the commands still echoing within the hearts of the deceased, fleeing toward the direction of other remaining altars as dictated by the resonating bell.

Victory cheers from the triumphant erupted like a tidal wave, reverberating across both the city’s interior and the outer countryside.

In the wilderness, gazing at the retreating endless sea of corpses, Baron Balfe knew the battle was decided.

He raised his sword high and issued a thunderous command.

The jubilant alliance soldiers ended their cheers, regrouped their forces, and marched toward Fenlidun City, reclaimed for the living, under the growing light from the distant horizon.

Having successfully destroyed the secondary altar within the city, the Avalon Knights and Illaril Knights, freed from the encirclement of the corpse sea, chose not to pursue the retreating enemy.

Instead, the two armies reached the Upper City plaza of Fenlidun one after another, meeting the Kantadar Knights who had endured a bitter struggle.

Azeryan, Lokhak, Kovis, along with Irem, Glenn Soren, and others, gathered beneath the bell tower surrounded by howling gales.

Looking up in confusion, they discovered that although the Soul Summoning Bell’s undead chimes had stopped, the bell itself had not yet been immediately destroyed.

Lokhak, somewhat impatient, led a few Guard Knights worriedly into the building.

Hurrying to the top floor, they found the Knight Girl standing guard with her sword at the staircase doorway.

“Olivia!

Where’s Leon?

Is he up there?” Lokhak shouted over the howling wind at the top of the tower.

“Don’t worry, he’s fine,” the girl replied loudly.

“But don’t disturb him for now—Leon is unraveling the enemy’s Magic.”

Lokhak glanced at the commotion behind Olivia, then relaxed.

Watching the burly man turn to join the soldiers in reorganization, Olivia turned back and gazed at the stairway door behind her…

The roaring Magic Wind surged atop the tower where the bell was located, the fierce gale billowing the scarlet cloak trailing behind Leon’s armor.

Leon’s trembling hands forcefully resisted the strong repulsion energy, pressing them against the surface of the Soul Summoning Bell.

The eerie green Magic Light shining beneath him had already been replaced by dazzling white flames, the six-pointed altar’s Corpse Ghost offerings, blood, and dismembered remains long reduced to ashes amidst the fiery magic.

However, the extraordinary abundance of Magic Power surrounding him was neither from himself nor from the waning Spiritual Body of Lola.

At this moment, Leon was merely struggling to maintain the magic channel linking this altar, using himself as a medium for Lola to infiltrate the altar.

The engraved intricate Demon Runes on the bell’s surface were shifting; unfamiliar and familiar runes alike altered under Lola’s will, reconnecting the various effects of the array.

Finally, as terrifying wails erupted from the soul torrent in the heavens, Leon felt an immense oppressive weight descending from the air above him.

The knights below the tower gazed upward in astonishment as the spectacular green pillar of light in the sky reversed its flow, ghostly pulses rushing back into the bell tower they had just poured forth from.

Accompanied by a resounding boom, a visible shock wave dispersed and gradually diminished.

Before long, Olivia heard footsteps and saw Leon descend from the tower top.

Returning to the girl’s side, he nodded briefly, then walked down the tower together with her, reflecting silently on Lola’s manipulation of the altar.

While she halted the operation of the Soul Summoning Bell, she did not destroy the altar outright.

Instead, she sought to reverse its array, intercepting a small portion of the soul torrent within the Great Magic’s local cycle, using it to disrupt other connected altar nodes.

The first target was the largest core node nearby—the Summoning Altar located at Ashford Port.

If they could disable the tower in the riverfront city before the army attacked, the ensuing battle would undoubtedly be smoother and more assured compared to the recently executed surprise tactics.

Pondering the next step in the war plan, Leon exited the tower building.

In the plaza, soldiers stood vigilantly at the streets and intersections, while Kovis and the Holy Lake Priests tended to the wounded.

The two Wizard Kantadar carrying Holy Lights eyed the undead bell atop the tower with wonder, their demeanor suggesting a strong desire to investigate.

Not trusting unfamiliar Southern Spellcasters to approach an altar currently sealing a large number of souls, Leon sought out Commander Irem, dispatching an elite group of knights to tightly guard the bell tower entrance.

Shortly afterward, Baron Balfe’s forces arrived within Fenlidun City.

As the grand army regrouped, Leon ordered the divisions to take over city defenses, repair the northern drawbridge, and deploy some of the still-capable elite troops to clean up the remaining undead in the city.

He then led the generals to the vicinity of the Upper City plaza, finding a relatively clean room to convene for a post-battle council.
