Knights and Magic Wand -
Chapter 502 - 502 237 Military Achievements and Glory
502: Chapter 237: Military Achievements and Glory 502: Chapter 237: Military Achievements and Glory The servants constantly cleared the empty plates and bowls from the table, while dish after dish of food disappeared before Leon’s eyes.
The kitchen boiler burned at full capacity, almost as if the Knight Masters were preparing to host an impromptu banquet at the estate.
After devouring enough food to feed a table full of burly men, Leon finally slumped comfortably in his chair, wiped his mouth with a napkin, and let out a hearty belch without a shred of decorum.
After all, he was surrounded by brothers, so he didn’t care about knightly etiquette.
The two men beside him, who had seen Leon gorge himself after special training back in Selva, were shocked by the terrifying volume today—even Lokhak, known for his massive appetite, was left stunned.
Lokhak motioned with both hands to approximate the sheer amount of food Leon had just consumed, imagining the combined volume, and couldn’t help but reach out to touch Leon’s utterly flat stomach.
“Holy Prophet, I just want to know—where does all that food go?
Even if you stuffed your stomach and intestines to the brim, there’s no way they could hold that much!”
“Leon’s a mage; maybe everything he eats gets converted into some kind of magical energy?” Azeryan speculated loosely, resting his chin on his hand.
He had always loved reading and had once borrowed a Magic Guidebook, said to have been authored by Lady Lola in the Felu Language.
Not too long ago, he even spent some time learning basic Lorelette Language from Kovis.
Though he lacked a natural talent for magic, he had flipped through some ancient texts with simpler phrases in the Tower.
“Perhaps.” Leon responded.
Based on the magical knowledge he currently possessed, whether it was ordinary people, spellcasters, animals, or demons, all could obtain varying amounts of “magic element” from the world’s food—or nutrients that could help the body produce magic elements.
Whenever he drained his magic elements to the brink of death, he would need to consume a massive amount of food—probably for this reason.
Though he hadn’t seen any theories in a magic guidebook that explicitly discussed replenishing magic elements through such extreme eating.
Could it be part of more advanced “Life Science” content?
“Click-click, so wizards poop less than ordinary folks, huh?” Lokhak joked as he pressed Leon’s stomach, curious.
Leon, annoyed, pushed Lokhak’s arm away: “I just finished eating—could we not discuss stomach-turning topics?”
Saying so, he tilted his head and reached his right hand behind him to gather his shoulder-length hair, asking the two for help cutting it shorter with a dagger.
With a crunch, his hair was cut into a mid-length style.
Leon grabbed the severed bundle and threw it into a fire basin, burning it all at once.
He patted the freshly trimmed hair on his head, finally feeling refreshed.
Though full and satisfied, Leon’s chest injury still hurt noticeably.
Nevertheless, he didn’t want to lie back down.
He’d been bedridden for so many days that his legs felt desperate to move.
“Where is Death Claw being kept?
Is it far?
I want to check on it.”
“Not far—it’s right across the street from where you’ve been resting,” Lokhak answered.
Leon immediately got up and put on a jacket.
Noticing that Azeryan had purposely draped a short cloak over him, angled to cover his severed arm, Leon didn’t refuse it.
He walked out of the estate—used for housing injured knights—and onto the soldier-patrolled streets of the small town.
As they idly chatted and strolled past the town’s main avenue, the ground subtly trembled.
Leon raised his eyes to see a squad of Orland Kingdom Soldiers escorting three approximately five-meter-tall Barbarian Giants covered in scars, heading toward the outskirts of town.
The Barbarian Giants had been stripped of their armor and weapons, with thick iron chains fastened to their limbs and necks.
Each giant was guarded by several Knight of Valor from Orland.
Despite the word “giant” in their name, they didn’t share much resemblance to humans.
They were hairless, with oversized limbs covered in thorn-like tough skin, four claw-like sharp fingers, and a beast-like face with fangs instead of human-like features.
Their intelligence was extraordinarily low, making them impossible to categorize as human.
They were more akin to Wild Goblins.
Even the Mire Giant Troll Larian had once hunted could be considered some form of a close relative to the Barbarian Giants.
In fact, the term “Barbarian Giant” was merely how they were referred to in some westernmost regions like Orland, Kantadar, and Urian.
In Seryan legends, they were traditionally called “Cannibal Trolls,” as humans were once part of their diet.
Of course, these monsters that used to prey on humans had seemingly been tamed to a point where they rarely targeted humans anymore—at least not by actively attacking settlements.
Otherwise, like the Mire Giant Trolls, they would have been hunted to extinction by knights long ago.
In this sense, Barbarian Giants were somewhat smarter than other monsters, as they had learned to coexist with humans.
Today, many of them even served as mercenaries for human armies in exchange for food to fill their bellies.
It was apparent that these three surviving Barbarian Giants had been “employed” by the Kantadar Army.
However, after being captured by the Orland Army, they’d soon wear different insignias and fight for the Northern Army.
For the dim-witted and savage minds of Barbarian Giants, as long as the food supply was sufficient, it didn’t matter which side of the humans they fought for.
Behind the squad escorting the Barbarian Giant prisoners was a convoy transporting spoils of war.
Leon spotted enormous ivory tusks on the convoy’s carts and deduced they belonged to Urian war elephants.
He had seen those southern beasts during aerial reconnaissance.
Unlike Barbarian Giants, which could surrender on their own, Urian war elephants were impossible to calm once panicked.
Even when captured, the Orland People lacked the skills to tame them, leaving them no choice but to kill the elephants and collect their ivory.
Seeing carts hauling six pairs of tusks—some damaged, others intact—Leon couldn’t help but lament missing out on a great battle.
He had seen the King’s Domain Army deploy land-traversing Subspecies Dragon Beasts but hadn’t witnessed the tactical use of war beasts on both sides.
Regardless of whether the creatures were Barbarian Giants, war elephants, Scorpion-tailed Lions, Griffins, or even mighty dragon beasts… fierce war beasts could prove decisive in medium and small-scale battles.
Yet, on the massive battlefield of nearly ten thousand elite troops from the two great southern and northern kingdoms, heavily outnumbered monster units didn’t affect the overall outcome.
The kings and lords of this land had long learned over centuries of strife how to deal with monstrous creatures with claws and fangs…
After the Kingdom Army transporting spoils of war passed through the avenue, the three men continued toward the barracks across the street.
On the way, they happened upon a knight from the Thorny Flower Family approaching.
“…The gods protect you, Lord Pendragon.
It’s wonderful to see you unharmed.
I’m certain Lord Eriv will be overjoyed to hear the news.” The knight, recognizing Leon leading the group, greeted him hurriedly, then offered formal salutations to the other two.
“My respects to the two of you, Baron Ferucus and Sir Flare.”
The three returned the greeting as Leon watched the knight’s departing figure in surprise.
He then turned to Lokhak, astonished: “Ferucus…
Baron?”
Lokhak scratched his head.
“I was planning to tell you later… Lord Eriv was exceedingly generous during the victory celebrations and granted me the title.”
Azeryan glanced at Lokhak and shook his head, explaining to Leon: “His military merit wasn’t small.
During the last battle, I could barely keep up with him as he plunged into the enemy ranks like a madman, killing five Kantadar Knights, including a Kantadar Baron.
He even slew a Urian centurion…
When I finally caught up to him, this guy was drenched in blood to the point his armor’s original color was unrecognizable, his entire body covered in severed limbs and flesh.
He looked more like a demon possessed by the Demon than an actual warrior.
Even his long spear and sword were shattered.
Now everyone calls him Avalon’s ‘Red Knight.'”
