Chapter 478 - 478 223 Faith and Miracles_2

478: Chapter 223: Faith and Miracles_2 478: Chapter 223: Faith and Miracles_2 The young Knight turned and sprinted towards the elder trapped in a crisis, attempting a rescue.

“Die, monster!” He roared mightily, drawing the attention of the Giant Bat Ghost.

With just a few strides, he leaped high, holding his long sword upside-down, and plunged it fiercely into the beast’s spine.

The huge Bat Ghost flailed its winged forearms trying to grab the enemy on its back, buying the Priest a brief and precious moment of time.

Lines of Demon Rune sketched out an ethereal bow, as the aged Priest gathered a dazzling Light Arrow.

Isa’s Arrow spiraled from the bowstring, instantly piercing through the ghastly creature’s ferocious skull.

The Knight fell onto the collapsed carcass of the Giant Bat Ghost and had barely stabilized when he witnessed an outcome he dreaded.

Yet another immense shadow loomed over the Priest’s head, its gaping maw biting down on the old man who could no longer react in time.

Sharp teeth tore through flesh, leaving behind a bodiless corpse with half its upper body gone.

“No!!!” The helmeted Knight, with eyes wide in rage, let out a guttural howl as he swung his great sword, charging towards the Bat Ghost.

The blood-flesh-fed behemoth, with a bloodstained mouth wide open, thrust its hefty forelimbs forward, barreling towards the Knight as well.

Thud!

The Knight, twisting his body, knocked the biting skull aside with the hilt of his sword.

Anger and fearlessness drove the young Knight into an unprecedented state of self-forgetfulness; he ducked under the Bat Ghost’s sharp claws and, in a swift turn, stabbed through the beast’s forearm.

Dragging the sharp blade halfway through the enemy’s flesh, the Knight spun around and struck a full-force Horizontal Slash at the same spot on the opposite side of the forearm.

With a crack, the heavy great sword, crossing in a slashing blow, severed one arm of the Giant Bat Ghost.

The behemoth’s body tilted off balance, its head aiming once again for the Knight.

But the upward-thrusting blade silenced it by closing its mouth permanently.

The Knight swiveled the blade lodged in the monster’s jaw, shifted his body toward the side of the severed limb, drew his sword, and struck fiercely.

Slicing smoothly through sinew and joint, the Giant Bat Ghost’s head spurted black blood and rolled listlessly to the side.

Watching the colossal beast crash down lifelessly in front of him,

The Knight, who had unleashed his potential, gasped for breath as he half-kneeled in exhaustion, devoid of any joy in defeating the powerful demon.

In between breaths, he pushed himself to stand, looking around at the few remaining companions still fighting and retreating towards him.

The young Knight raised his sword blade in front of him, praying with a heart still as water…

“…May the Holy Sun and Illaril take our souls, not to be tainted by this evil force…”

His only regret was that he could not vanquish more Wandering Souls and would soon exhaust himself in fierce combat and perish amid a sea of corpses.

He knew the battle was coming to an end.

…Streaks of crimson light suddenly illuminated the castle avenue piled with bodies and blood….

The Corpse Ghosts slowed their raging onslaught.

These Undead, which naturally craved the breath of living Taotie, all ceased their movements as if stricken by terror, their glowing eyes fixated on the sky, mouths open in a roar.

The Knight couldn’t help but stare upwards in astonishment at the abrupt turn of events.

Crimson brilliance pierced the darkness, raining down from overhead.

Cutting through the somber clouds, a fiery light like the sun trailed a dazzling tail as it descended from the sky.

…What is that?

Before the question could even escape their lips, they saw a meteor of flames, whistling down into the tide of Undead.

——BOOM!

The ground-shaking impact made it difficult for the knights to remain standing, as the blast of flames rose like a storm.

Rolling heat waves swept through the vicinity, incinerating all the Undead in an instant.

The knights, peering through their visors, widened their eyes in stunned disbelief.

Finally, amidst the charred corpses and the glowing pits, they saw a tall figure, and behind it there appeared…

…a pair of wings?

In the descending radiant heat, the figure was clad in golden armor, and though its face was not visible beneath its helmet, long white hair trailed out, fluttering in the wind.

The aura encircling it actually emanated from two Flame Swords, one grasped in each of its hands.

The rising fiery blades cast the originally pure white wings in a flickering crimson light.

What was that?

Was it a human?

A human with wings?

Could it be some kind of flying spell cast by a wizard?

The knight didn’t know.

He had no idea who it was or, for that matter, what kind of being it was.

But he saw the figure, facing the oncoming Corpse Ghost Army, raising the Swords of Flame in its hands.

With a cross slash of the swords—

Amidst a powerful gust, a sea of fire swept across the avenue.

In an instant, like a punishment handed down by the gods, countless Corpse Ghosts were turned to ash in the relentless inferno…

The knights, awestruck by the powerful being, shifted from shock to exhilaration, their hearts filled with relief.

This winged figure—at the very least—was not their enemy!

The shadowy figure looked up, as if noticing Corpse Demons attacking from the sky.

Its wings flapped abruptly, and it soared into the air.

The right-hand Flame Sword swung out, a Fire Snake lashing forth like a whip.

The flaming whip struck through them, and a swath of Corpse Demons turned into falling char.

The figure pivoted in midair, the gaze of its hidden eyes under the hood seemingly directed towards the knights below.

In the ears of every surviving knight rang her voice, gentle and warm.

“…I have heard your call…

I bring the wrath of the Holy Sun…

Warriors of the fierce sun, please follow me…

follow the Envoy of Mosela…”

Miracle!

…..Salvation has arrived!!

The Holy Sun answered the prayers, sending Its Envoy!

“We are saved!

That is…

the Envoy of the Holy Sun?!”

The knights couldn’t help but tremble deeply in their spirits.

People were agitated with an unprecedented frenzy for their righteous faith being answered…
