474: Chapter 221: Gathering (Afternoon Editorial Guide, Request for Monthly Ticket)_2 474: Chapter 221: Gathering (Afternoon Editorial Guide, Request for Monthly Ticket)_2 All the personnel were gathered, and Leon summoned the knights stationed by Selva for training.

After a brief reorganization, before setting off, a swearing-in ceremony was held at the camp outside the city, where all the soldiers gathered to dine and drink together to boost morale.

The next day, the Knight Order set out, heading to the family army assembly point in Glade County.

Leon intended to ride the Death Claw at the front of the team to guide the way, taking advantage of the aerial view as a scout replacement, but was stopped by Azeryan.

“There’s no danger on the road to Glade County.

You’d better ride a horse and let the Death Claw accompany you flying in the sky,” Azeryan suggested.

Leon was a bit puzzled: “If you’re worried about startling the warhorses, we can arrange for all the horses to travel at the rear as the Griffin and I will be watching at the front.”

“It’s not that…,” Azeryan hesitated and instead asked, “Leon, do you have any personal grievances with Young Master Feodo?”

“Of course not, I’ve hardly exchanged a few words with him, where would any personal grievance come from?” Leon was surprised by his companion’s question.

“But I noticed that Feodo seems to have a special attitude towards you.

On our way to the assembly point, we might as well keep a low profile to avoid catching his eye and provoking unnecessary thoughts,” Azeryan replied.

Leon blinked, not knowing what he meant.

He didn’t have much of an impression of Eriv’s eldest son, only that he seemed to be a particularly obedient, well-mannered noble youth, and there had been no conflicts between them.

Seeing his companion’s baffled expression, Azeryan had to explain his observations: “During the time you took Olivia to investigate the news of Rolannar, I went to Archers City to negotiate the ancient mine matters with Lord Eriv.

Before leaving, Feodo privately invited me to a feast where he praised you highly in conversation, but I felt he was covertly testing my opinion of you…

Initially thinking it was my illusion, I simply bluffed some words of envy and jealousy, pretending to inadvertently complain about being beneath you in status, far less successful than you, and having my territorial power held by your Knight Order…”

“And what was the result?” Leon curiously asked.

Azeryan shrugged: “After comforting me with a few words, he became obviously more enthusiastic towards me, subtly hinting at alliances.”

“Feodo wanting to befriend you isn’t a bad thing, unless he has a fondness for Pilireno,” Leon shrugged.

Azeryan choked a bit, his eyebrow twitching, and lifted a hand to punch Leon’s side in the kidneys, “I’m talking about serious matters here, be serious, I almost managed to forget that old guy.”

“Sorry, sorry, I understand what you mean.” Leon raised his hands in surrender, smirking before speaking seriously, “You mean, Feodo wants to divide the relationship between you and me?”

“I can’t be sure, but his praises of you at the banquet were not sincere, and after I disparaged you, he became extraordinarily friendly towards me.”

Azeryan continued to analyze, “I observed the people around him, from the servants to the knights and guards within the mansion, their manners and conduct were impeccable, respectful, and orderly, even more serious than around Lord Eriv, leading me to guess he is a person who values rank and rules very much.

Yet, when I was disrespectful towards you, not only did he not correct my attitude, but he also showed secret encouragement and agreement, which does not fit the impression he left on me.

I can only guess there is another purpose to it…

at least he seems to hold quite a resentment against you.”

Listening to this, Leon couldn’t help but secretly admire his brother’s keen insight, and could only ask, “So you think that if I arrive at the assembly point riding the imposing Griffin, the scene might agitate him further?”

“Hmm, Feodo will certainly be present on this trip.

If you arrive riding a Griffin, it may appear to him as flaunting superiority, exacerbating his prejudice against you.”

Azeryan gently reminded, “The Holy Sun warms the world, but it can also feel dazzling to those who gaze directly upon its brilliance.

A sage once said jealousy arises in the human heart without any self-awareness.

The more you shine, the more it might burn Feodo’s soul.

Leon, not every lord is as genuine and magnanimous as Lord Eriv.

The more at ease and free you appear in interactions with the Sealing Lord, to some, it might be perceived as arrogance and indulgence…”

Leon sighed, scratching his head, truthfully speaking, he wasn’t all that keen on strictly following ranks and rules.

After all, a modern Earthling wouldn’t want to bow and scrape continuously.

Plus, with Eriv himself being easygoing and not fussing over minor affairs in informal occasions, Leon had grown accustomed to it.

Thinking about it now, if Azeryan’s judgment wasn’t wrong, in Feodo’s eyes, he might indeed resemble someone like “Nian Genyao.”

Leon wasn’t stubborn about it, so he accepted Azeryan’s suggestion to let the Griffin freely fly around, while he switched to riding a Wuzhui Warhorse.

He did enjoy showing off, but it wouldn’t kill him to be less ostentatious.

Receiving much favor from Eriv, he had no intention of being a rebel’s accomplice.

There was no need to provoke the young master’s pointless apprehensions over such trivial matters.

Leaving Avalon in the morning, by afternoon, the Knight Order had arrived at the assembly point designated by Count Eriv.

Leon and his group weren’t the first to arrive; more than a thousand soldiers and a considerable number of civilian force workers had already gathered at the location.

The Death Claw soared in the sky while Leon led the twenty heavy cavalrymen behind him.

With Kovis absent, Azeryan volunteered to act as the Flag Officer, holding the Sword Wings flag of the Avalon Knights to showcase the team’s identity.

Upon arrival, a hundred soldiers retrieved equipment from the supply wagons before donning chain armor robes, iron helmets, shin armor, and shouldered their weapons to line up in formation and follow closely.

Upon reaching the assembly point, Leon couldn’t help but appreciate his brother’s foresight.

Not mentioning how much attention riding a Griffin might attract, Eriv possibly intended for his offspring to gain experience in military matters, as the person responsible for troop statistics this time was indeed the Thorny Flower Young Master Feodo, along with the Sealing Lord’s second son, Knight David.

Everyone dismounted to receive arrangements and dispatching, whereupon the youthful Knight David enthusiastically greeted them.

However, Baron Feodo exhibited no unusual attitude, remaining equally courteous.

If not for Azeryan’s earlier reminder, Leon indeed couldn’t perceive any dissatisfaction Feodo might hold towards him.

Nonetheless, with so many pressing matters at hand, Leon didn’t have the time to dwell on the other’s views.

Selecting a slightly distant camp area to station his troops to avoid the griffins startling the other horses within the army, Leon went to report to Count Eriv.

After resting in the camp for a night, with the arrival of the final contingent the following day, over two thousand warriors and nearly a thousand accompanying civilian force workers finally assembled, whereupon Eriv promptly convened a military meeting in the main tent to reorganize his army.

In total, there were eight Barons of the Thorny Flower Family, each with different troop compositions.

More numerous, like Leon himself, excluding himself and the Griffin, brought twenty heavy cavalrymen, fifty spearmen, and fifty crossbowmen.

Baron Balfe brought ten heavy cavalrymen, a hundred spearmen, and a hundred longbowmen.

Baron Reddo brought five heavy cavalrymen, and a hundred Duwana Long Spear Soldiers….

Cases similar, with the likes of Baron Sambu and Baron Agiria able only to provide two or three heavy cavalrymen and fifty infantrymen.

The various small units that the lords recruited certainly couldn’t just be lumped together to fight independently.

All the warriors brought by the vassals were divided.

Except for the commanding Barons themselves, the majority of the knights and attendants were subordinated to Eriv’s cavalry units under unified command.

The remaining infantry units, units of about a hundred people each remained unchanged, while those falling short of a hundred were merged with other groups to form companies, though ensuring that the direct commander remained their respective lords.

Thus, the entire army was restructured into approximately twenty-two companies, split into three sections, led by Count Eriv, and those bearing the title of “Square Banner Knight” — Balfe and Leon.

As the chief commander, Count Eriv naturally led the main force of about thirteen hundred men.

Baron Balfe was in charge of the forces of Baron Crosh, Baron Targas, and Baron Sambu, totaling four hundred and seventy men.

The forces of the remaining three barons were overseen by Leon.

During the meeting, upon hearing that he, like Balfe, had been appointed as one of the commanders, Leon didn’t feel much pressure.

Having experience from Longka, he wasn’t entirely ignorant about marching and battling, not to mention that the soldiers under his command weren’t too many, totaling his own only amounted to three hundred and fifty men.

Moreover, among the three barons assigned under his command, Reddo and Marcello were old acquaintances he had fought alongside with, with only Baron Agiria remaining just an acquaintance at a nodding term.
