Chapter 430 - 430 202 Good Mount Awesome_2

430: Chapter 202: Good Mount, Awesome_2 430: Chapter 202: Good Mount, Awesome_2 The Griffin stepped forward two paces, lowered its body, and stared with its eagle eyes at the thoroughly subdued bloodline “kinsman.” It shook its head, no longer frightening the other.

Kovis loosened the strap, leapt back to the ground, and while drawing his long sword, walked forward.

Approaching the Stormhawk lying on the ground with its eyes closed, waiting for death, the boy removed his Knight Helmet, hung it on his waist, and took off the Iron Gloves on his left hand, squatted down, pressed his fingers to his lips, and blew a few brisk whistles.

Upon suddenly hearing the familiar whistle, the Stormhawk couldn’t help but open its eyes.

But it did not see the face of the owner it remembered; instead, it saw a seemingly familiar countenance, and it still felt apprehensive.

“Xiao An, do you remember me?” Kovis reached out and patted the Stormhawk’s head, soothing it gently before lifting its beak, signaling it to stand up.

The Stormhawk looked at the somewhat familiar boy, and the terrifyingly large head of the Griffin behind him, hesitating slightly.

Kovis stood, grabbed the reins that were now broken and hanging in front of him, and somewhat forcefully pulled the Stormhawk up.

Succumbing to the Griffin’s might, the Stormhawk dared not resist, reluctantly lifting its limbs and getting back up, but no sooner had it stood than it couldn’t help but pace back attempting to retreat.

Kovis immediately held the reins tightly and, while raising his sharp sword, called out with a stern expression…

Leon sat on the back of the Griffin, watching his young companion below skillfully “taming the eagle,” while Death Claw also crouched down, waiting patiently.

They saw the boy gesture to the Stormhawk for a while, then take out the remaining cured meat and dry food from his bag to feed it, finally calming it down after a good twenty minutes.

Kovis led the Stormhawk’s reins to the side and turned to Leon: “My lord, it should obediently fly with me to Avalon Castle, but on the way, we’ll have to ask Death Claw to keep an eye on it, lest it secretly escapes.

Once we get back, we can feed it more, and as a masterless captive Stormhawk, it can likely be tamed once more.”

Leon was delighted, having unexpectedly gotten a flying War Beast; they say a fine horse matches a hero, and a Stormhawk is far more valuable than a horse.

If he could tame it, Avalon would henceforth have a second Sky Knight.

“In the future, this Stormhawk will be yours to ride, spend some effort taming it,” Leon said without hesitation.

After all, there were still many years before Little Gede grew up, so upgrading his Flag Officer’s mount first wasn’t a bad idea.

Kovis thought for a moment, then nodded in acceptance, understanding that having a Stormhawk to ride would allow him to continue staying by Leon’s side: “As you command.”

Of course, for now, the boy still had to return to the Griffin’s secondary seat.

The reins and saddle on the Stormhawk were quite damaged; some were from previous battles, others perhaps broken by the Stormhawk biting them off during the months when moving around in the wild was inconvenient.

Riding a beast with incomplete gear into the sky would inevitably be dangerous, especially seeing as this creature’s current strength hardly seemed sufficient for carrying a Rider on long flights.

Leon had Death Claw lead the Stormhawk, find a nearby river to drink and rest, and then fed it all the remaining food from the bags, waiting patiently until it had recovered before taking flight once more.

The Stormhawk flapped its wings hesitantly, but obediently followed along, flying beside Death Claw.

The months spent unsupervised in the wild had truly been rough on this Mage’s mount, raised in captivity with constant supplies, grinding down its arrogant edges.

Now, seeing a familiar human display both threats and kindness, it, having realized its master was gone, lacked the energy for further struggle in its confusion.

The freedom of being left in the wild, exposed to the elements, was certainly not as comfortable as the well-catered, managed life it remembered.

The unexpected trouble during their journey meant that, having to care for the Stormhawk’s stamina, Death Claw slowed its pace.

When the sun turned the clouds on the horizon red, Leon and Kovis finally reached the skies above the Avalon River Valley.

The Griffin slowly descended, and Kovis, using the Beast Summoning Whistle hanging at Leon’s waist, turned back and blew it towards the trailing Stormhawk, signaling it to descend with them.

The Sergeant of the Knight Order standing guard atop the tower was the first to spot the returning lord.

He waved to greet the lord, surprised to see a small “Griffin” trailing behind Death Claw, a little smaller.

He recalled that Sir Death Claw was rumored to be a Griffin Lady who had tragically lost her mate…

Could it be?

On this trip, did Mr.

Leon find a young, vigorous “lad” for the “Griffin Lady” to…

mate with?

Oh, how wonderful, the sergeant raised an eyebrow, looking forward to a few years later when every knight, equipped with a Griffin, would march into battle, leaving no need for soldiers like them, as it would terrify their enemies to death….

“Leon!”

Just as the Griffin and Stormhawk landed in the open space before the main castle, Olivia spotted her returning lover through the window after four days of separation, and, while about to take off her armor, turned away from the room, hurried downstairs, and ran out the main castle gate.

Leon dismounted and, seeing the Knight Girl rushing to greet him with her armor still on, immediately advanced, enthusiastically lifting Olivia in a hug and spinning her around dramatically.

“See, I told you I’d be back soon,” he said, holding the girl and smiling.
