Chapter 414 - 414 196 Griffin Knight_2

414: Chapter 196 Griffin Knight_2 414: Chapter 196 Griffin Knight_2 Leon took down the beast summoning whistle he had handcrafted in the workshop from his waist and blew the sharp whistle mimicking the cry of the Griffin.

The Griffin sunning itself opened its eagle eyes and involuntarily shuddered its feathers.

It lifted its wings, propped up its massive body with its limbs, turned its head, and looked over from afar toward the source of the call.

Opening its beak, Death Claw cried out in response, then leaped from the terrace of the Nest Tower.

With its imposing and majestic body, it took flight amidst a whirlwind after just a couple of wingbeats.

With a thunderous crash, the giant beast landed in front of the crowd in the square.

Death Claw cocked its head, looking at Leon with puzzlement, not knowing why it was summoned.

Leon stepped forward, gesturing for it to lower its head, then placed his hands on the Griffin’s large head, concentrating on sensing the link through their Magic Technique.

Communicating mind to mind, he carefully conveyed a set of complex meanings before stepping back to observe the big fellow’s reaction.

Death Claw turned its huge head and slowly stepped towards the pile of Griffin Armor, looking left and right.

Curiously stretching out its claw, it touched the massive steel armor and then lowered its head to sniff it.

After a while, it turned and lowly hummed towards Leon.

Leon’s eyebrows shot up with delight.

It had agreed.

….In the square, the clever giant quietly lay down, enjoying the folks helping it groom its fur as always, occasionally lifting its wings and limbs to allow them to cover its head, neck, chest, limbs, and hips with those “hard pieces.”

When Leon personally secured the reins, made of iron chains, to both sides of the Griffin Head Armor, he stepped back, having fully armed his Griffin companion.

The giant beast, now covered in black and red patterned armor, slowly rose from the ground.

Death Claw, not quite accustomed to the strange sensation of being encased entirely, lowered its head, blinked its eyes, and seeing its old wounds protected by sturdy steel, its intelligent head naturally understood the purpose of this shell of armor.

The Griffin recalled those who had maliciously killed its mate…

If it had been protected by such a hard shell of armor back then, safeguarding its vital points from relentless giant arrows, it surely could have taken down at least one or two of its main enemies in a fight to the death…

Leon surveyed the imposing, armor-clad Griffin in front of him.

The creature before him looked tremendously majestic, far beyond ordinary robustness.

Even more enormous and armored than the original “Death Claw” from a certain work in his past life…

The only concern was, with so much added weight, could the Griffin still manage to fly?

Even as a Dwarf Master Craftsman who had built the Griffin armor according to ancient structures, Leon was still somewhat worried seeing the actual weight of the armor.

Approaching Death Claw, he made a gesture with his hands as if signaling it to circle once in the air.

The Griffin shook its cool, steel-crowned head and immediately spread its only unarmored mighty wings to attempt flight.

The fierce gale whipped up under Death Claw’s wings, and the armored Griffin flapped its wings, taking off into the air in just a few beats.

Leon was relieved; he had been overly concerned.

Viewing this mythical creature by the standards of animals from Earth in a previous life really undermines the proud creation of an Ancient Pope.

The burden of the Battle Armor did not hinder the beast’s flight; as the Griffin spiraled and turned amidst the astonished cries of the crowd, it thunderously landed again.

Accustomed to the weight of the Armor, the Griffin threw back its head in a freewheeling screech, clearly very pleased with its new attire.

Leon, unable to contain his excitement, stepped forward.

As the Griffin lay down, he climbed onto the high saddle, fastened the belt around his waist, and took hold of the sturdy reins.

Feeling the Griffin rise, and gazing from a perspective far above that of a Warhorse, Leon took a deep breath and shouted in excitement.

“Death Claw, ascend.”

— Whoosh!

The massive wings flapped, the jolts far exceeding those experienced on horseback, urging Leon to press his feet firmly into the stirrups.

Emboldened by a long-lost sensation carved into its bloodline, Death Claw spiritedly dashed to the edge of the square, leaped off swiftly with its front limbs, and glided downwards in a dive.

Suddenly feeling his body plummet like a rollercoaster, watching the slanted view from mid-air, Leon startled and gripped the iron reins tightly, instinctively leaning back.

“…Haha~….

Don’t worry, it won’t drop you.”

Hearing the teasing voice of Miss Mage in his heart, Leon’s face flushed with embarrassment.

Quickly suppressing the embarrassment from earlier, he steadied his riding posture.

Death Claw, diving down, gathered its strength and immediately flapped its wings.

The Overlord of the skies carved a beautiful arc, elevating its altitude, taking its back-ridden companion soaring straight into the sky.

Sharp gusts of wind whirled past Leon’s ears, the gale brushing his face, and as the scenery left and right retreated further, Leon’s heart throbbed with exhilaration from this thrilling experience.

The clouds above grew closer, Leon, adjusting to the elegant bounds of the beast below, couldn’t help but turn his head and look down at the earth beneath.

In just a short moment, the outline of Avalon Fortress, viewed from his eyes, became the size of a Kite Shield.

The tiny Fountain Square, where peers and servants remained, became too small to distinguish.

Turning his head, with his hair trailed by the gale, Leon looked ahead as Death Claw flew higher and higher, abruptly piercing through the clouds.

— An eagle cries through the sky.

Man and beast, climbing high into the heavens…

A vast, intoxicating expanse of blue unfolded before Leon’s eyes in an instant.

…A sea of clouds spanning the sky, swirling mists…

The dazzling sun, as if within arm’s reach.

Sitting on the gradually leveling saddle of the Griffin, journeying through the vast sea of clouds.
